Save Cowboy Poetry, Cut NEA Funded Porn Instead!

Do Democrats believe that without government the arts won't exist?

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) was on the floor of the U.S. Senate on Tuesday saying how mean and nasty the Republicans are because they propose a minuscule $62 billion in cuts from a budget with a $1.5 TRILLION deficit.

I don't know if Reid went off script or whether he just got carried away, but this statement shows just how absurd the Democrats spending priorities are:

REID: “The mean-spirited bill, H.R. 1 … eliminates the National Endowment of the Humanities, National Endowment of the Arts. These programs create jobs. The National Endowment of the Humanities is the reason we have in northern Nevada every January a cowboy poetry festival. Had that program not been around, the tens of thousands of people who come there every year would not exist.”
I guess when you are making such outrageous, unprincipled and irresponsible attacks on the GOP it's easy to get carried away. Does anyone seriously think the cowboys who enjoy poetry "would not exist" but for government?

Mary Katherine Ham tweets:
John Boehner's America is a land in which cowboys would be forced into back-alley poetry recitations.
What a shame that Harry didn't stick up for money for cowboy poetry (he can still donate to the annual festival if he chooses) when the National Endowment for the Arts was misusing taxpayer funds to support porn. But isn't this the Dems usual game? Pick some innocent sounding thing like cowboy poetry and use it to defend the NEA which has a history of abusing the taxpayers trust.
