Viewer Alert: Set DVR for Sunday's Diamond Jubilee Celebration from Britain

Only the second time in the thousand year history of the British Monarchy has there been a Diamond Jubilee!

Sixty years ago Queen Elizabeth II ascended to the British Throne. She has been a singular and constant figure in world history at a time of enormous change.

Coronation Day June 2, 1953
For three days beginning Sunday, Britain will be the scene of pageantry and events throughout the country. BBC America will have the fullest coverage (schedule) but other US networks such as Fox News will also have coverage.

Anglophiles may also appreciate the photo coverage in the Daily Mail. All photos are in large format:
  • Restored color images of the Coronation.
  • Photos from early Royal Family home movies.
  • Newly discovered historic photos.
  • Series of aerial shots of British landmarks and places of interest.
From the aerial collection this shot:
Myth and legend: Some believe Glastonbury Tor in Somerset is the final resting place of King Arthur
Hats off to our British cousins, America's most faithful ally, as they celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee!
