Mitt Romney: "Now is the time to restore the promise of America"

America: Real Hope is ON THE WAY!

The last night of the GOP 2012 Convention in Tampa was the finale of three days celebrating the success and diversity of America and today's Republican Party. And just as in the prior two days, a dazzling array of talent drove home the message that America can do much better in meeting it's current challenges. The Convention's You Tube page has speeches and videos from all three nights.  But Thursday was Mitt Romney's night.

Rubio Racks 'em up for Romney

Full text here.
Introducing Mitt was Sen. Marco Rubio from Florida who told the story of how his family came to this country from Cuba and worked hard to give him his chance for the Amerian Dream. Rubio also teed up the ball for Mitt Romney when he said this about Obama:
RUBIO: Our problem with President Obama isn't that he's a bad person. By all accounts, he too is a good husband, and a good father — and thanks to lots of practice, a pretty good golfer.

Our problem is he's a bad president.

The new slogan for the president's campaign is "Forward."

A government that spends $1 trillion more than it takes in.

An $800 billion stimulus that created more debt than jobs.

A government intervention into health care paid for with higher taxes and cuts to Medicare.

Scores of new rules and regulations.

These ideas don't move us "Forward," they take us "Backwards."

These are tired and old big government ideas. Ideas that people come to America to get away from. Ideas that threaten to make America more like the rest of the world, instead of helping the world become more like America.

Under Barack Obama, the only "Change" is that "Hope" has been hard to find.

MITT!!!

30933ff28b97cb18190f6a7067004b68

The main event of the three day convention was the acceptance speech by Mitt Romney. No flash, no huge boasts about his abilities or wild promises. Just a sober minded reflection on where we are as a county and how we can do better. What a contrast with Obama who, as they say out West, is "all hat and no cattle!"

Here are some excerpts from Governor Romney's speech:
ROMNEY: This president can ask us to be patient.

This president can tell us it was someone else’s fault.

This president can tell us that the next four years he’ll get it right.

But this president cannot tell us that YOU are better off today than when he took office.

America has been patient. Americans have supported this president in good faith.

But today, the time has come to turn the page.

Today the time has come for us to put the disappointments of the last four years behind us.

To put aside the divisiveness and the recriminations.

To forget about what might have been and to look ahead to what can be.

Now is the time to restore the Promise of America. Many Americans have given up on this president but they haven’t ever thought about giving up. Not on themselves. Not on each other. And not on America.

What is needed in our country today is not complicated or profound. It doesn't take a special government commission to tell us what America needs.

What America needs is jobs.

Lots of jobs.

In the richest country in the history of the world, this Obama economy has crushed the middle class. Family income has fallen by $4,000, but health insurance premiums are higher, food prices are higher, utility bills are higher, and gasoline prices have doubled. Today more Americans wake up in poverty than ever before. Nearly one out of six Americans is living in poverty. Look around you. These are not strangers. These are our brothers and sisters, our fellow Americans.

His policies have not helped create jobs, they have depressed them. And this I can tell you about where President Obama would take America:

His plan to raise taxes on small business won't add jobs, it will eliminate them;

His assault on coal and gas and oil will send energy and manufacturing jobs to China;

His trillion dollar cuts to our military will eliminate hundreds of thousands of jobs, and also put our security at greater risk;

His $716 billion cut to Medicare to finance Obamacare will both hurt today's seniors, and depress innovation – and jobs – in medicine.

And his trillion-dollar deficits will slow our economy, restrain employment, and cause wages to stall.

To the majority of Americans who now believe that the future will not be better than the past, I can guarantee you this: if Barack Obama is re-elected, you will be right.

I am running for president to help create a better future. A future where everyone who wants a job can find one. Where no senior fears for the security of their retirement. An America where every parent knows that their child will get an education that leads them to a good job and a bright horizon.

And unlike the President, I have a plan to create 12 million new jobs. It has 5 steps.

First, by 2020, North America will be energy independent by taking full advantage of our oil and coal and gas and nuclear and renewables.

Second, we will give our fellow citizens the skills they need for the jobs of today and the careers of tomorrow. When it comes to the school your child will attend, every parent should have a choice, and every child should have a chance.

Third, we will make trade work for America by forging new trade agreements. And when nations cheat in trade, there will be unmistakable consequences.

Fourth, to assure every entrepreneur and every job creator that their investments in America will not vanish as have those in Greece, we will cut the deficit and put America on track to a balanced budget.

And fifth, we will champion SMALL businesses, America’s engine of job growth. That means reducing taxes on business, not raising them. It means simplifying and modernizing the regulations that hurt small business the most. And it means that we must rein in the skyrocketing cost of healthcare by repealing and replacing Obamacare
...
President Obama promised to begin to slow the rise of the oceans and heal the planet. MY promise...is to help you and your family.

I will begin my presidency with a jobs tour. President Obama began with an apology tour. America, he said, had dictated to other nations. No Mr. President, America has freed other nations from dictators.

Every American was relieved the day President Obama gave the order, and Seal Team Six took out Osama bin Laden. But on another front, every American is less secure today because he has failed to slow Iran's nuclear threat.

In his first TV interview as president, he said we should talk to Iran. We're still talking, and Iran’s centrifuges are still spinning.

President Obama has thrown allies like Israel under the bus, even as he has relaxed sanctions on Castro's Cuba. He abandoned our friends in Poland by walking away from our missile defense commitments, but is eager to give Russia's President Putin the flexibility he desires, after the election. Under my administration, our friends will see more loyalty, and Mr. Putin will see a little less flexibility and more backbone.

We will honor America’s democratic ideals because a free world is a more peaceful world. This is the bipartisan foreign policy legacy of Truman and Reagan. And under my presidency we will return to it once again.
All the elements are now in place for a vigorous campaign of ideas and renewed hope for REAL positive change from the last four years of disappointment and failure. Let the campaign begin!

GOP Convention Day Two: Laying the Foundation for American Renewal and Prosperity

A civil and respectful contrast with the disappointments of the Obama years!

So many good speeches for day two of the GOP Convention in Tampa. If you missed any, they are available online at the GOP Convention You Tube site.

I picked three from tonight for specal mention:

Condi Rice: The American Dream is Alive

First, Condoleezzaa Rice, former Secretary of State. She discussed the importance of U.S. leadership in the world, something that has been sorely lacking with an Administration that "leads from behind." Dr. Rice also stressed the essential quality of American exceptionalism that must be preserved by addressing the weakness in the current educational system. Most moving for the delegates was her personal story. Excerpts are below:

Full text.
CONDI RICE: But if we are not inspired to lead again, one of two things will happen – no one will lead and that will foster chaos —- or others who do not share our values will fill the vacuum. My fellow Americans, we do not have a choice. We cannot be reluctant to lead – and one cannot lead from behind.

Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan understand this reality — that our leadership abroad and our well being at home are inextricably linked. They know what needs to be done.

Our friends and allies must be able to trust us. From Israel to Poland to the Philippines to Colombia and across the world — they must know that we are reliable and consistent and determined. And our adversaries must have no reason to doubt our resolve — because peace really does come through strength. Our military capability and technological advantage will be safe in Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan’s hands.
...
After all, when the world looks to America, they look to us because we are the most successful political and economic experiment in human history. That is the true basis of “American Exceptionalism.” The essence of America – that which really unites us — is not ethnicity, or nationality or religion – it is an idea — and what an idea it is: That you can come from humble circumstances and do great things. That it doesn’t matter where you came from but where you are going.

Ours has never been a narrative of grievance and entitlement. We have not believed that I am doing poorly because you are doing well. We have not been envious of one another and jealous of each other’s success. Ours has been a belief in opportunity and a constant battle – long and hard — to extend the benefits of the American dream to all – without regard to circumstances of birth.
...
And on a personal note– a little girl grows up in Jim Crow Birmingham – the most segregated big city in America - her parents can’t take her to a movie theater or a restaurant – but they make her believe that even though she can’t have a hamburger at the Woolworth’s lunch counter – she can be President of the United States and she becomes the Secretary of State.
...
Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan have the experience and the integrity and the vision to lead us – they know who we are, what we want to be and what we offer the world.

Susana Martinez. Self Made Success

Next up was Susana Martinez, who in 2010 was elected the first female governor of New Mexico and the first Hispanic female governor in the country. She tells the personal story of her families success coming from a border town and starting a business. Next she relates what happened shortly after she entered politics. She was a Democrat but met a pair of Republicans one day and ended up talking about issues and suddenly realized she was a Republican too.  Her success in working with a Democrat legislature in addressing her state's fiscal problems is the same story that has been told by Republican governors across the country. They get the job done not just talk about it.

Full text.

GOV. MARTINEZ: Despite what some would have us believe, success is not built on resentment and fears.

We grew up on the border and truly lived paycheck to paycheck. My dad was a golden gloves boxer in the Marine Corps, then a deputy sheriff. My mom worked as an office assistant.

One day, they decided to start a security guard business. I thought they were absolutely crazy-we literally had no savings, but they always believed in the American Dream.

So, my dad worked to grow the business.

My mom did the books at night. And at 18, I guarded the parking lot at the Catholic Church bingos.

Now, my dad made sure I could take care of myself.

I carried a Smith and Wesson .357 Magnum — that gun weighed more than I did!

My parents grew that small business-from one 18-year-old guarding a bingo-to more than 125 people in three states.

And sure, there was help along the way. But my parents took the risk. They stood up. And you better believe that they built it.
...

As the first Hispanic female governor in history, little girls often come up to me in the grocery store or the mall. They look and point, and when they get the courage, they ask "Are you Susana?" and they run up and give me a hug.

And I wonder. How do you know who I am?

But they do. And these are little girls.

It's in moments like these when I'm reminded that we each pave a path. And for me, it's about paving a path for those little girls to follow.

No more barriers.

In many ways Mitt Romney and I are very different. Different starts in life. Different paths to leadership. Different cultures.

But we've each shared in the promise of America, and we share a core belief that the promise of America must be kept for the next generation.

El sueno Americanos es tener exito.

It's success.

Success is the American Dream.

And that success is not something to be ashamed of, or to demonize.
Bravo Paul Ryan!

The big speech of the night was that of Paul Ryan as he accepted the GOP nomination for Vice President of the United States. It was a mostly low key measured delivery but with plenty of emotional moments as he directed attention to his mother who sat in the audience with her grandchildren. But Ryan also took the opportunity to make a direct contrast between the leadership offered by Romney/Ryan and the record of the Obama Administration. Even that partisan red meat was dished out respectfully and factually; more with disappointment over Obama's failure than anger.

Every word of the speech is word reading but for those pressed for time the following excerpts are especially noteworthy:
PAUL RYAN: I’m the newcomer to the campaign, so let me share a first impression. I have never seen opponents so silent about their record, and so desperate to keep their power.

They’ve run out of ideas. Their moment came and went. Fear and division are all they’ve got left.

With all their attack ads, the president is just throwing away money – and he’s pretty experienced at that. You see, some people can’t be dragged down by the usual cheap tactics, because their ability, character, and plain decency are so obvious – and ladies and gentlemen, that is Mitt Romney.
...
President Barack Obama came to office during an economic crisis, as he has reminded us a time or two. Those were very tough days, and any fair measure of his record has to take that into account. My home state voted for President Obama. When he talked about change, many people liked the sound of it, especially in Janesville, where we were about to lose a major factory.

A lot of guys I went to high school with worked at that GM plant. Right there at that plant, candidate Obama said: “I believe that if our government is there to support you … this plant will be here for another hundred years.” That’s what he said in 2008.

Well, as it turned out, that plant didn’t last another year. It is locked up and empty to this day. And that’s how it is in so many towns today, where the recovery that was promised is nowhere in sight.

Right now, 23 million men and women are struggling to find work. Twenty-three million people, unemployed or underemployed. Nearly one in six Americans is living in poverty. Millions of young Americans have graduated from college during the Obama presidency, ready to use their gifts and get moving in life. Half of them can’t find the work they studied for, or any work at all.

So here’s the question: Without a change in leadership, why would the next four years be any different from the last four years?
...
Maybe the greatest waste of all was time. Here we were, faced with a massive job crisis – so deep that if everyone out of work stood in single file, that unemployment line would stretch the length of the entire American continent. You would think that any president, whatever his party, would make job creation, and nothing else, his first order of economic business.

But this president didn’t do that. Instead, we got a long, divisive, all-or-nothing attempt to put the federal government in charge of health care.

Obamacare comes to more than two thousand pages of rules, mandates, taxes, fees, and fines that have no place in a free country.

The president has declared that the debate over government-controlled health care is over. That will come as news to the millions of Americans who will elect Mitt Romney so we can repeal Obamacare.
...
Obamacare, as much as anything else, explains why a presidency that began with such anticipation now comes to such a disappointing close.

It began with a financial crisis; it ends with a job crisis.

It began with a housing crisis they alone didn’t cause; it ends with a housing crisis they didn’t correct.

It began with a perfect Triple-A credit rating for the United States; it ends with a downgraded America.

It all started off with stirring speeches, Greek columns, the thrill of something new. Now all that’s left is a presidency adrift, surviving on slogans that already seem tired, grasping at a moment that has already passed, like a ship trying to sail on yesterday’s wind.

President Obama was asked not long ago to reflect on any mistakes he might have made. He said, well, “I haven’t communicated enough.” He said his job is to “tell a story to the American people” – as if that’s the whole problem here? He needs to talk more, and we need to be better listeners?

Ladies and gentlemen, these past four years we have suffered no shortage of words in the White House. What’s missing is leadership in the White House. And the story that Barack Obama does tell, forever shifting blame to the last administration, is getting old. The man assumed office almost four years ago – isn’t it about time he assumed responsibility?
...
President Obama is the kind of politician who puts promises on the record, and then calls that the record. But we are four years into this presidency. The issue is not the economy as Barack Obama inherited it, not the economy as he envisions it, but this economy as we are living it.

College graduates should not have to live out their 20s in their childhood bedrooms, staring up at fading Obama posters and wondering when they can move out and get going with life. Everyone who feels stuck in the Obama economy is right to focus on the here and now. And I hope you understand this too, if you’re feeling left out or passed by: You have not failed, your leaders have failed you. "

None of us have to settle for the best this administration offers – a dull, adventureless journey from one entitlement to the next, a government-planned life, a country where everything is free but us.
...
The right that makes all the difference now, is the right to choose our own leaders. And you are entitled to the clearest possible choice, because the time for choosing is drawing near. So here is our pledge.

We will not duck the tough issues, we will lead.

We will not spend four years blaming others, we will take responsibility.

We will not try to replace our founding principles, we will reapply our founding principles.

The work ahead will be hard. These times demand the best of us – all of us, but we can do this. Together, we can do this.

We can get this country working again. We can get this economy growing again. We can make the safety net safe again. We can do this.

Whatever your political party, let’s come together for the sake of our country. Join Mitt Romney and me. Let’s give this effort everything we have. Let’s see this through all the way. Let’s get this done.

Thank you, and God bless."
What a talented GOP team we have. Black, white, Hispanic, male and female leaders of quality and character with ideas and the solid experience and leadership America needs to recover from the mistake of 2008!

41 & 43: The Bush President's Convention Video

A humorous and touching look back at years with leadership, grace and civility. Quite a contrast with the last four years!

When the final history of this era is recorded Obama will be an unpleasant footnote. The Bush contribution will shine!

Message From Day One GOP Convention: America There is a Better Way!

And they said it with grace and civility!

Plus: New rising GOP stars face specter of racism, FROM DEMOCRATS!

There are so many good moments from Tuesday night's GOP convention it's hard to choose. But here are few.

Photobucket

First, Ann Romney wowed the crowd with her gentle humor and loving personality. She spoke about "love" and not just the love she shares with Mitt and her five sons but the love Mitt has for America and how Mitt would help to bring the lessons of his success home to a nation clamoring for leadership after the last four years. She never mentioned Obama by name or even Democrats. The contrast with her soft words and the harsh rhetoric coming from the other side is enough. Still, the New York Daily News called Ann Romney's speech a "brutal attack" wrapped in a blanket. If that's an attack, what do they say about Obama's attacks on Romney?

Earlier, GOP Governors, all newly minted in the last 3 years came forward to talk about their success in creating jobs, getting deficits under control and all without raising taxes. It's story that Keynote Speaker, Governor Chris Christie drove home in his address. Christie pointed out that in New Jersey, like the other states with new GOP Governors they told the truth to the voters and confronted the hard fiscal realities and overcame the entrenched special interests like the Teacher's Union. Christie pointed out that "if we can do this in a blue state with a conservative Republican governor, Washington is out of excuses."

But the night was also a success for the new faces and rising stars that were welcomed to the podium. Memorable among them were Mia Love and Artur Davis. Both African-American they represent a new and growing movement of upwardly mobile minority voters able to think for themselves and willing to stand up and say so despite the vile racist attacks launched against them.

Ms. Love is the Mayor of Saratoga Springs, Utah, and the daughter of Haitian immigrants. She talks about the promise of the American dream from a deeply personal perspective:

"Mr. President I am here to tell you we are not buying what you are selling in 2012."
MIA LOVE: "Let me tell you about the America I know. My parents immigrated to the U.S. with ten dollars in their pocket, believing that the America they had heard about really did exist. When times got tough they didn’t look to Washington, they looked within.

So the America I came to know was centered in personal responsibility and filled with the American dream.

The America I know is grounded in the determination found in patriots and pioneers, in small business owners with big ideas, in the farmers who work in the beauty of our landscape, in our heroic military and Olympians. It’s in every child who looks at the seemingly impossible and says, “I can do that.” That is the America I know!

The American Dream is our story. It is a story of human struggle, standing up and striving for more. It’s been told for over 200 years with small steps and giant leaps; from a woman on a bus to a man with a dream; and the bravery of the greatest generation, to the entrepreneurs of today.

This is our story. This is the America we know because we built it."
Photobucket

Then there was Artur Davis, a former Congressman from Alabama who was a co-Chairman of the Obama 2008 campaign and gave one of the nominating speeches for Obama at the 2008 Democrat Convention in Denver. Like so many voters from 2008 Davis has had a change of heart. His full speech is here [text, video]. Here are his five best lines:
1. “Maybe we should have known that night in Denver that things that begin with plywood Greek columns and artificial smoke don’t end well.”

2. “Remember the president saying of negative politics and untrue ads, ‘not this time.’ Who knew “not this time” just meant “not unless the economy is still stuck and we can’t run on our record.”

3. Remember, too, when he said, ‘this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal.’ Who knew the plain English version of it was “Middle America, get ready to shell out 60 bucks to fill up your car?”

4. “This time, instead of moving oceans and healing planets, let’s get our bills in order and pay down the debt so we can control our own future.”

5. “This is no dark hour, this is the dawn before we remember who we are. May it be said of this time in our history, 2008 to 2011, lesson learned, mistake corrected.”
Meanwhile, Democrats were reduced to bemoaning the fact that Hurricane Isaac didn't hit Tampa after wishing it would kill delegates to the convention. Democrats may even be disappointed that Isaac barely touched New Orleans with only one reported fatality. This after a reporter at the GOP Convention suggested Mitt and Ann Romney "are happy to have a party with black people drowning.'' Ever hear any reporter express concern when Obama was throwing a party while hundreds of blacks in Chicago were being gunned down in the streets?

And of course many of these same Democrat lovers of civility are also attacking Mia Love  including the use of the "n" word for her part in the convention. Artur Davis is called an "Uncle Tom" with violent knife wielding imagery in this video. But somehow, that behavior by Democrats is not racist? It will be interesting to see the reaction to former Secretary of State Condi Rice's speech this evening. Will we see the old "Aunt Jemima" racial clownery

Democrat Convention Declares War on Women and Children

At least they are not demanding abortions for female delegates!

By now you have heard of the Dem charge that the Republican Party is waging a War on Women. It's a totally bogus and phony charge. But considering how Democrats are treating their own women, and especially children, might the tables be turned?

CHARLOTTE (CBS Charlotte) — The Democratic National Committee is taking flak from women’s groups for the lack of child care that is being provided at the convention.

The Charlotte Observer reports that children will not be allowed access on the floor of the Democratic National Convention and that daycare will not be provided for delegates who bring their kids.

Women’s rights activist Gloria Steinem and several National Organization of Women chapters have called out the DNC for the “discrimination against mothers with young children.”
...
Delegate Susie Shannon feels the DNC is putting her in a tough position because she is bringing her 4-year-old along.

“The Democratic Party shouldn’t put you in a position where you have to choose between your child and participating in a political convention,” she told The Charlotte Observer.
...
Zoe Nicholson, president for the Pacific Shore NOW chapter, is calling for the DNC to end this “outdated practice.”

“We believe this practice of discrimination needs to end in 2012,” Nicholson told The Daily Caller. “This is the year for the Democratic leadership to demonstrate comprehensive support of women, ending this outdated practice and to state publicly that it supports true family values.”

Democrats discriminating against women and children. Wow! Who would have thought?

Warning: Obama Campaign Spending on Ground Game Could Overwhelm GOP Enthusiasm

Romney/Ryan need to focus on turnout with grass roots organization to match Obama's!

In an election that could go either way one thing matters above all others. You have to get your voters to the polls. On the GOP side there is enormous enthusiasm to vote. But even in the 2010 midterm election when that enthusiasm was also very high GOP candidates underperformed polling numbers by a significant margin in several key states. We are used to polls underreporting GOP strength so when the opposite happens and we lose key races that most polls predicted we would win we have to ask why. Shortly after the 2010 election I posted a warning that unless we repaired deficiencies in the ground game that worked to turn out GOP voters we could face more serious disappointments in 2012.

The problem for the GOP in key states is that the Democrats operate in these states with a full time paid professional staff. Most of this is in the form of Big Labor union and progressive causes which fund ongoing operations. The Obama campaign, as it did in 2008 builds on that skeleton and pours paid staff into these states. These are the folks who supervise the phone banks and other grass roots efforts. They've been quietly working in a number of key states for months now.

The Washington Post has this story highlighting how the Obama Campaign is replicating the successful ground game strategy they followed in 2008. Check out the map which shows compares Dem ground game spending in key states with the GOP:

w-GroundGame24
Full size image here.

In desperate appeals to his campaign donors Obama repeatedly complains that he may be outspent by Romney. Hogwash. The Washington Post has the facts. Obama has raised $300 million more than Romney and spent almost twice as much. Even with Romney favorable PAC spending, there is little chance Romney can catch up. It's a useful reminder to cite that three of the top five independent spenders in the 2010 election were pro-Dem unions. They outspent GOP PACs. They can be expected to shell out again this time as well.

Romney spent much of his money during the bitter primary fight. He won't be able to spend general election contributions until after the convention. That leaves him playing catchup with Obama whose staff in key states has had plenty of time to troll the graveyards and identify potential Obama voters.

The bottom line: enthusiasm is not enough to win an election. In key states GOP voters must be registered and plugged in to make sure they vote. That takes boots on the ground. Time is wasting!

God Speed Neil Armstrong (1930-2012)

Let's honor the memory of this great American hero by restoring America's primacy in manned space exploration!

Neil Armstrong aboard the Eagle Lander on the surface of the Moon July 12, 1969

On Saturday Neil Armstrong died of complications from a heart procedure at the age of 82. It was just a month ago that we marked the 43rd anniversary of Neil Armstrong's historic landing on the moon. In that anniversary post I highlighted Armstrong's concern with the Obama Administration's decision to cancel the follow on program to the Space Shuttle which currently finds us paying the Russians to take our astronauts to the International Space Station.

Let's honor Armstrong's heroism by restoring the American made space lift necessary to get our astronauts into orbit without foreign assistance. That means jobs for Americans and no further degradation in our aerospace industry. Do it for Neil!

Dems Use Fake Republican for New Pro-Obama Ad

Is it really so surprising that the same people who lie about Mitt Romney being a felonious tax cheat who murdered a man's wife and tortured his own dog would fake an ad?

The big question in this election is how many people who voted for Obama in 2008 have come to their senses and now see their mistake? A recent Gallup survey found 14% of Obama 2008 voters will not cast their ballot for his re-election. This matches a wealth of anecdotal evidence such as the Citizens United video telling the story of Obama 2008 voters who have had enough of Hoax and Cheat.

So what is the Obama Campaign answer? Come out with their own film which purports to show Republican women deserting the GOP. Just one problem. The ad they ran features a woman who claims to be a Republican but who in fact has been a registered Democrat for many years.

Just more proof that Obama will say anything to get re-elected!

Romney in Michigan: "No One Has Ever Asked to See My Birth Certificate"

There's no doubt that Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan are All American!

Here's Romney poking  a bit of fun at Obama:

Obama has only himself to blame for questions about his eligibility for office. His own bio for his publisher claims he was born in Kenya and questions persist as to whether he requested special consideration for admission to Columbia and Harvard as a foreign exchange student since he won't release those records.

Note that Romney offered up this jab in a light hearted way. He didn't have his campaign accuse Obama of being a felon who tortured his dog (Obama ate his dog) and didn't pay taxes!

A Vice President We Can Be Proud Of?

Or four more years with a bumbling clown a heartbeat away from the presidency?

New Film Highlights the Stories of Obama 2008 Voters Who Have Had Enough!

Obama's 2008 Hope and Change chickens are coming home to roost!

It's been my considered opinion (based on years of experience in politics at every level from the Court House to the White House) that Obama's high watermark for fooling voters was 2008. And if my expertise isn't good enough for you there's a study by a Democrat think tank which shows Democrat voter registration in key states is down 800,000 from 2008.  Polls showing Obama getting more votes in 2012 than he did in 2008 are flat out WRONG!

As Abe Lincoln said: "You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time." The problem for Obama is that fewer and fewer people are drinking his Kool Aid. A recent Gallup Poll showed that 14% of Obama 2008 voters would not vote for him again. That fits with a number of anecdotal reports which show Democrats abandoning Obama for a variety of reasons.

Citizens United put together the following video which puts the face on the Obama exodus:

Voters who got swept up in hopenchange in 2008 have a chance to correct their mistake in 2012. Vote ROMNEY/RYAN!

Romney/Ryan Release Energy Plan that Will Cut Costs, Put Americans Back to Work, Reduce the Deficit and Free U.S. From Middle East Oil

It's all doable with the wealth of energy resources available for safe recovery right here in the U.S.

Romney/Ryan released their Energy Independence plan today. The following graphic highlights the key points:

Here are the details:

Energy Policy White Paper 8.23

The Romney/Ryan plan is a clear contrast with Obama's energy policy which favors his campaign contributors at the expense of everyday Americans. Had enough of high gas prices? Vote for Romney and Ryan and American Energy Independence!

Even Flawed Polls Which Favor Democrats Show Trend Away From Obama in Key Swing States

Anyone who thinks Obama will turn out greater numbers of Democrats in 2012 than he did in 2008 is fooling themselves!

Thanks to Always on Watch for passing along the news from the Huffington Post of an Electoral College forecast based on economic indicators from all 50 states showing a likelihood of a Romney landslide. The model has correctly forecast every winner in the presidential contest since 1980. The model predicts that swing states like Florida, Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Minnesota, New Hampshire and Colorado will all be in the Romney column.

It's a stunning prediction which flies in the face of most current polling. But at the same time, polling trends in key states do seem to be tightening in Romney's favor.

A new poll released today confirms that trend in swing states. The Quinnipiac Poll whiles it shows Obama still ahead in key states shows his lead shrinking. This is the same Quinnipiac polling firm which overstated the number of likely Democrat voters in a poll at the beginning of August. The same is true in this current poll.

Ed Morrisey dug through the numbers this time around and found that in the Florida 2012 Quinnipiac poll while the number of Democrats dropped by 2-3 points over 2008 and 2010 the same poll undersampled Republicans by 6-8 points. If the polls results were more in line with a likely turnout model for GOP voters somewhere between the 2008 result and the 2010 result Obama would certainly lose the state.

In Ohio, Quinnipiac's 2012 poll assumed GOP turnout anywhere from 5-11% less than it was in 2008 and 2010. That's the only way Obama could win the state and such an assumption is so highly unlikely that it's laughable.

In Wisconsin, the selection of Paul Ryan has moved that state into a virtual tie even with flawed polls. There are other indicators which show that other states in the Upper Midwest may be moving towards Romney/Ryan as well. In large part that may be because of the energy and vitality which Paul Ryan, a favorite son of the region, has brought to the race.

The bottom line is that the race is much closer than the stalemate in national polls might suggest. Certainly the energy in the past week since Ryan was selected for V.P. is moving in the Republican direction!

In Ohio for Education Stop Obama Misspells Ohio as O-I-H-O

But Obama fans need not worry. The "news" media won't report this. If Romney or Ryan did the same it would be front page news!

The Hill newspaper has the story. Obama was at Ohio State University in Columbus on Tuesday when he stopped to pose with three students spelling out the name of the school and the state. Here's the picture:

Photobucket

O-I-H-O? I don't think so!

I thought Obama was supposed to be the smartest president ever. Perhaps he thinks this new state OIHO is one of the "57 states" he visited in 2008. Sorry pal, OIHO doesn't have any electoral votes. OHIO has 18!

Romney and Senior GOP Officials Lead the Way in Condemning Republican Todd Akin's Remarks on Rape

Contrast that with the total silence from Obama and Dems criticizing Biden or other Dem hate speech!

Six term GOP Congressman Todd Akin, the candidate for a seat in the U.S. Senate from Missouri stepped in it when defending his position on abortion and rape by saying that ""If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down." The news media went crazy. Don't you wish they paid the same attention to what V.P. Joe Biden and Obama's surrogates are saying?

As is so often the case when a Republicans says or does something dumb, GOP leaders were out front denouncing the act. Mitt Romney responded to Aiken's remarks:
“Congressman’s Akin comments on rape are insulting, inexcusable, and, frankly, wrong...Like millions of other Americans, we found them to be offensive...“What he said is entirely without merit and he should correct it.””
Sen. John Cornyn, head of the Senate Campaign Committee called for Akin to reconsider his candidacy and pulled funding from his campaign. GOP Senators and candidates in races across the country condemned his remarks.

Obama even got into the act calling Akin's comment "offensive."

Where are the Democrats denouncing Biden and Obama's Negative Campaign?

So, where are the Democrats denouncing Joe Biden for suggesting that Romney would put black people "in chains," "y'all?" Biden is the Vice President of the United States not some senate candidate from Missouri. When did Obama denounce his surrogates who repeatedly talk of Romney as a white racist or suggest his is "niggerizing" Obama? What about the Obama Pac linking Mitt Romney to the death of a woman from cancer years after her husband was laid off by a firm Bain Capital owned? Or what about Obama's campaign which suggested Romney was a felon? Or Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid using the Floor of the United States Senate to pass along a smear suggesting Romney had not paid income tax?

Obama Denies His Campaign is Negative or Uses Smears

In that same Press Conference where Obama found Akin's comments "offensive" he was not able to similarly condemn Democrats, even those in his own campaign. When it was pointed out that his campaign called Mitt Romney a "felon," Obama denied it. "“Nobody accused Mr. Romney of being a felon,” he said. Yet, here's the statement from Stepanie Cutter, the Obama Campaign spokesperson:
“Either Mitt Romney, through his own words and his own signature, was misrepresenting his position at Bain to the SEC, which is a felony, or he was misrepresenting his position at Bain to the American people to avoid responsibility for some of the consequences of his investments.”
It's pretty clear here who is avoiding responsibility. Can you think of any recent example where Obama and his team have condemned the over the top offensive statements coming from their supporters or other Dem candidates? No. As I have said often, Republicans are first in line to clean up the mess when a GOP candidate errs. Democrats leave the garbage in the middle of the room and let it stink!

Romney and Ryan and the GOP leadership prove once again that they hold fellow Republicans to a high standard. What a shame the same cannot be said of Obama and the Democrats!

Democrats Should be Embarrassed and Ashamed of V.P. Joe Biden

Contrast Biden's poisonous hatemongering and diarrhea mouth with the brilliant, all-American Paul Ryan!

A few days ago Vice President Joe Biden was campaigning in Danville, Virginia. Apparently he thought he was in North Carolina when he told the crowd: "“With you, we can win North Carolina again!” But that gaffe, which is typical of Joe Biden's blunders was not the only doo-doo Joe Biden stepped in that day. Later he told the crowd that Romney wants to "unchain  Wall Street" which is curious considering that the Obama-Biden Administration has had ZERO prosecutions of Wall Street fraud. By contrast, the Bush Administration had 1,300 convictions of Wall Street crooks.

But Biden wasn't done yet. He told the crowd, which included a large percentage of Black Americans, that after Romney unchained Wall Steet "They're going to put y'all back in chains." That kind of racist condescension is nothing new for Democrats. One commenter even went so far as to accuse Romney of the "niggarization of Obama." But it's one thing for a relative nobody on television making racially inflammatory statements and quite another for a sitting Vice President to do so.

What a contrast Biden makes with the smart, affable Paul Ryan. I can't wait for the debates. That is if Biden is still in the race.

Biden is clearly a drag on a ticket that already has it's hands full dealing with the utter failure of Obama's economic policy. The matter of his recent statement raised new questions about whether he would remain on the ticket. Obama said yes, but there was also a curious meeting with Obama, Biden and Hillary in the Oval Office on Thursday which raised eyebrows.

A Republican Super Pac concerned that Biden may be dropped from the ticket rushed out this web video urging him to stay:

Joe Biden is one of the best reminders of what is wrong with the Obama Administration. It would be a shame to lose him now. Besides, he's always great for a laugh!

New Ad: Dems Hate Speech

Gallup rates Obama as the most polarizing President ever. Here's why:

"In one week you can put an end to the politics that would divide a nation just to win an election." Obama, October 27, 2008
Romney was right when he said: "Mr. President, take your campaign of division and anger and hate back to Chicago and let us get about rebuilding and reuniting America."

Message to Obama 2008 Voters: Has Obama Earned Your Vote Again?

In this ad, the answer is clearly NO!

If you got hooked on Hope and Change will you vote for Obama and his campaign of Hate and Fear?

Americans for Prosperity asks that question:

Some Americans may have voted for Obama in 2008 to prove they were not racists. Now, they must vote for Romney to prove they are not idiots!

Mitt Romney Speech: Obama's "Angry and Desperate" Campaign

Obama's failure to live up to the promise for civility from his 2008 campaign is nearly as egregious as his failures to create jobs and restore fiscal responsibility!

UPDATE: Video Excerpt:
ROMNEY: Everywhere I go in America there are monuments that list those who have given their lives. There is no mention of their race, their party affiliation or what they did for a living. They lived and died under a single flag fighting for a single purpose. They pledged allegiance to the United States of America. So, Mr. President, take your campaign of division and anger and hate back to Chicago and let us get about rebuilding and reuniting America.
Mitt Romney took the gloves off in Ohio on Tuesday. Here's an excerpt from his speech delivered in Chillicothe:
For the first time, most Americans believe that our best days are behind us. This is an election in which we should be talking about the path ahead, but you don't hear any answers coming from President Obama’s re-election campaign. That’s because he's intellectually exhausted, out of ideas, and out of energy. And so his campaign has resorted to diversions and distractions, to demagoguing and defaming others. This is an old game in politics; what’s different this year is that the president is taking things to a new low.

It wasn’t supposed to be this way.

In 2008, Candidate Obama said, “if you don't have any fresh ideas, then you use stale tactics to scare voters.” He said, “if you don't have a record to run on, then you paint your opponent as someone people should run from.” And that, he told us, is how, “You make a big election about small things.”

That was Candidate Obama describing the strategy that is the now the heart of his campaign.

His campaign and his surrogates have made wild and reckless accusations that disgrace the office of the Presidency. Another outrageous charge came a few hours ago in Virginia. And the White House sinks a little bit lower.

This is what an angry and desperate Presidency looks like.

President Obama knows better, promised better and America deserves better.

Over the last four years, this President has pushed Republicans and Democrats as far apart as they can go. And now he and his allies are pushing us all even further apart by dividing us into groups. He demonizes some. He panders to others. His campaign strategy is to smash America apart and then cobble together 51 percent of the pieces.

If an American president wins that way, we all lose.

But he won’t win that way. America is one Nation under God. American history has been a story of the many becoming one - uniting to preserve liberty, uniting to build the greatest economy in the world, uniting to save the world from unspeakable darkness. Everywhere I go in America there are monuments that list those who have given their lives.

This election is about restoring the promise of America. It’s a choice between two visions for our nation’s future. It’s about the challenges America faces. It is about a better tomorrow and a better future.

We don’t need more excuses. We don’t need more blame. We don’t need more small-minded attacks.

What we really need is a new president.
Romney's campaign has a new television ad which incorporates some of the above and asks "what does this say about Obama's character?"

Obama's REAL $700 Billion Cut to Medicare

Funny how a REAL CUT is described by Democrats as "savings!"

You know the drill by now. When Republicans propose slowing the increase of spending for a federal program it's called a cut. Never mind that the spending just continues to go up and up it's never enough.

Democrats are currently trying to demonize Romney's running mate Paul Ryan by claiming his plan would cut Medicare. See the video of DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz repeating the same worn out lie over and over again like a pull string doll. Despite the best efforts of CNN's Wolf Blitzer to educate here all she can do is repeat her dishonest talking point. It's clear that what Democrats like Debbie don't want to talk about is that ObamaCare, already signed into law by Obama DOES cut Medicare by over $700 billion.

Obama admitted it in November 2009 in this interview with ABC's Jake Tapper:

TAPPER: One of the concerns about health care and how you pay for it: One third of the funding comes from cuts to Medicare.

OBAMA: Right.

TAPPER: A lot of times, as you know, what happens in Congress is somebody will do something bold; and then Congress, close to election season, will undo it.

OBAMA: Right.

TAPPER: You saw it with the doc fix.

OBAMA: Right.

TAPPER: Are you willing to pledge that whatever cuts in Medicare are being made to fund health insurance, one third of it, that you will veto anything that tries to undo that?

OBAMA: Yes! I actually have said that it is important for us to make sure this thing is deficit neutral, without tricks. I said I wouldn't sign a bill that didn't meet that criteria.
And of course the latest CBO projections show ObamaCare costing nearly TWICE what it was originally estimated. Deficit neutral? Sure!

In a letter [PDF] dated July 24, 2012 Congressional Budget Office head Douglas Elmendorf informs Speaker Boehner of the U.S. House of Representatives that a repeal of ObamaCare would restore over $700 billion cut from the program by ObamaCare.

And let's not forget that seven years ago then Senator Obama attacked President Bush for failing to do anything about Medicare which he claimed then was "breaking down rapidly." [video] Like so much else, when he became President Obama only ended up making the situation worse.

So now you have the information to debunk the phony claims that somehow Paul Ryan would gut Medicare. Obama's already done it. But before we can have an HONEST discussion about entitlement reform Democrats will have to acknowledge the past. Until then, throw the truth back in their face!

How to Turn the Tables on Democrat's Attacks on Paul Ryan

Their policies have failed and they have no new ideas. Force them to defend their policies before they criticize ours!

Dems are already speaking in unison from their talking points calling  presumptive GOP Vice Presidential Nominee Paul Ryan an "extremist." That's ironic considering that as a U.S. Senator and presidential candidate Obama was ranked by the non-partisan National Journal as the "most liberal" member of the U.S. Senate. And after more than three years in office Gallup has President Obama ranked as "The most polarizing president. Ever. "

But now these same acolytes of moderation and unity are out attacking Paul Ryan. One attack is that Ryan would cut Medicare for seniors. While Ryan does have a proposal to reform entitlements like Medicare they are just proposals. And they do NOT apply to anyone currently on these entitlements. Obama actually signed legislation cutting Medicare by $700 billion. When put on the spot on that fact Democrats stumble. Obama Campaign spokesperson Stephanie Cutter called Obama's Medicare cuts an "achievement" on the CBS Sunday program Face the Nation.

Rachel Maddow, darling of the left wing media and a commentator at MSNBC criticized Paul Ryan's plan on Meet the Press attempted to attack Ryan on Medicare and was cornered by National Review's Rich Lowry who asked her if she approved of Obama's cuts to Medicare. She tried repeatedly to change the subject.

Another perfect example of how to turn the tables on Democrat attacks came from a congressional hearing earlier this year chaired by Congressman Paul Ryan. The witness was Obama Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner. When put on the spot for leadership and new ideas to match those put forward by Ryan, Secretary Geithner responded to the effect: "We have no plan. We just don't like yours."

Democrat's false attacks on Romney and Ryan only unmask the extreme nature and utter failure of Obama's policies. They cannot defend those policies and their attacks only draw attention to their failure to lead and to produce results for the American people.  If voters want four more of the same they can vote for Obama. If they want a positive change (for a change) they can vote for Romney/Ryan!

For the Record: 3 things every voter needs to know about Paul Ryan’s Medicare reform plan — in 100 words.

From the American Enterprise Insitute:
1. No one over the age of 55 would be affected in any way.

2. Traditional Medicare fee-for-service would remain available for all. “Premium support”—that is, government funding of private insurance plans chosen by individuals—is an option for those who choose it. No senior would be forced out of the traditional Medicare program against his will.

3. Overall funding for Medicare under the Ryan-Wyden plan is scheduled to grow at the same rate as under President Obama’s proposals. Is this “gutting Medicare” and “ending Medicare as we know it”? In reality, it’s the market giving seniors cheaper, higher quality choices they can take if they wish, with the traditional program remaining an option.

Extreme? Hardly!

Huge Crowd Welcomes Romney & Ryan to Wisconsin Homecoming

Meanwhile, Obama fundraiser is "half full" in Chicago!

A crowd estimated at over 10,000 showed up Sunday evening to welcome Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney to Wisconsin. Talk about ENTHUSIASM!

Photobucket
Miles of traffic with motorists eager to hear Romney and Ryan in Wisconsin.

10,000+

Listen to Ryan's remarks, filled with emotion, as he talks about what it means to him to be a 5th generation Wisconsinite who lives in a house on the same street he grew up in. Listen as he stands with Governor Walker and Tea Party favorite Sen. Ron Johnson, both elected in 2010 and talks about Wisconsin and American values. There may even be a Reaganesque tone in what this young man from the Mid West is saying. And just as importantly, the WAY he is saying it:

An on the scene report from Tom the Redhunter reports an overflow crowd at a Virginia Romney/Ryan rally on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Obama hosted ANOTHER fundraiser Sunday. Only 1,000 people showed up. The New York Times reporter on the scene tweeted: “At Obama fundraiser in Chicago. Admission only $51, but room is half full.”

Meanwhile, since Paul Ryan was announced as Romney's pick for V.P. the campaign took in a whopping $ FIVE MILLION in new donations!

The Romney/Ryan campaign is generating REAL enthusiasm with voters nationwide. They are prepared to wait in long lines to hear the candidates and are opening their wallets. Get on the bandwagon and make a donation TODAY!

Is Romney/Ryan Ticket a Gamechanger for November Election?

A bold conservative choice that signals Romney is serious about reversing the Obama decline not simply managing it!

UPDATE: Conservatives voice their approval of Ryan with whopping $3.5 million in new campaign contributions.

Meet America's Comeback Team:

Photobucket
RYAN:"We won't duck the tough issues we will lead!"

Watch full video of the announcement
here.

Any idea that Mitt Romney would play it safe by picking another old white man for his running mate went out the window with his selection of the young 7 term Congressman Paul Ryan of Wisconsin as his running mate.

Romney's choice also signaled that he wants a campaign of ideas in contrast to the Obama campaign's negative attacks. And the ideas that Romney wants to advance are the conservative cornerstones which typify Paul Ryan's work in the House Budget Committee to restore America's economic health. By choosing Ryan, Romney signals conservatives and the country that he does not want to be elected president to simply manage the decline better but to reverse course and rebuild our prosperity.

Paul Ryan is an unquestioned man of ideas. His "Roadmap for America's Future" is a clear contrast with the absence of ideas coming from the other side. It was Paul Ryan, chairing a House Budget Committee hearing [video] who got Obama's Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner to admit: "We don't have a definitive solution... We just don't like yours."

Obama and the Democrats, who haven't passed a budget in the U.S. Senate in 1200 days have no plan. All they propose are massive tax increases and more spending and more debt that takes us further down the road to ruin.

Romney and Ryan now offer Americans a stark choice: new ideas or more of the same!

Meet the Ryans!

Photobucket
The photo above is a few years old but shows a happy family at home in Janesville, Wisconsin. From top left to right: Rep. Paul Ryan, wife Janna (Little) Ryan, Charles Wilson, Elizabeth (Liza) Anne and Samuel Lowery.

Paul Ryan, 42, is a pro-life Catholic and a solid conservative with a lifetime rating of 91% from the American Conservative Union. Named Conservative of the Year in 2011 by Human Events. He also hunts deer with a bow.
He's not a partisan bomb thrower like Vice President Biden but a man of ideas. Those same ideas famously schooled Obama in the White House Health Care Summit [video] in which he informed the President that hiding spending in the health care bill won't reduce overall spending. He was right as later cost projections from the Congressional Budget Office showed. Ryan's Path to Prosperity video proved he can explain complex issues like budgets and debt and make them relateable to the general public.

When the anticipated attacks come Ryan will be able to respond forcefully with ideas. And he will run rings around Joe Biden in a debate.

Ryan has shown he can win in areas that once supported Obama. In 2010 he won re-election in his district by 64%. The same district voted for Obama by 54% in 2008. He will certainly help the campaign in Great Lakes and Upper Midwest states like Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and perhaps even Ohio.

Ryan will bring conservatives and tea party voters home to the Republican Party and the Romney/Ryan ticket. How high the bounce in the polls will be and how long it lasts are unclear. But one thing is certain: Ryan is the choice for a better future for America. The recovery starts now!

Happy with Ryan as the V.P. pick? Make your donation now to Romney/Ryan!

Charles Krauthammer Describes Winning Campaign Message for Romney

Ideology trumps management skills!

Another excellent column by Charles Krauthammer. In it he describes how the Romney campaign is staking it's message on the belief that Romney would be a better manager than Obama. True yes, but hardly the most compelling narrative. Instead Krauthammer reminds us that there are twice as many conservative leaning people in the country than liberals and how an ideological argument which also covers competent management would be much stronger:
First, the $831 billion stimulus that was going to “reinvest” in America and bring unemployment below 6 percent. We know about the unemployment. And the investment? Obama loves to cite great federal projects such as the Hoover Dam and the interstate highway system. Fine. Name one thing of any note created by Obama’s Niagara of borrowed money. A modernized electric grid? Ports dredged to receive the larger ships soon to traverse a widened Panama Canal? Nothing of the sort. Solyndra, anyone?

Second, radical reform of health care that would reduce its ruinously accelerating cost: “Put simply,” he said, “our health-care problem is our deficit problem” — a financial hemorrhage drowning us in debt.

Except that Obamacare adds to spending. The Congressional Budget Office reports that Obamacare will incur $1.68 trillion of new expenditures in its first decade. To say nothing of the price of the uncertainty introduced by an impossibly complex remaking of one-sixth of the economy — discouraging hiring and expansion as trillions of investable private-sector dollars remain sidelined.

The third part of Obama’s promised transformation was energy. His cap-and-trade federal takeover was rejected by his own Democratic Senate. So the war on fossil fuels has been conducted unilaterally by bureaucratic fiat. Regulations that will kill coal. A no-brainer pipeline (Keystone) rejected lest Canadian oil sands be burned. (China will burn them instead.) A drilling moratorium in the Gulf of Mexico that a federal judge severely criticized as illegal.

That was the program — now so unpopular that Obama barely mentions it. Obamacare got exactly two lines in this year’s State of the Union address. Seen any ads touting the stimulus? The drilling moratorium? Keystone?

Ideas matter. The 2010 election, the most ideological since 1980, saw the voters resoundingly reject a Democratic Party that was relentlessly expanding the power, spending, scope and reach of government.

It’s worse now. Those who have struggled to create a family business, a corner restaurant, a medical practice won’t take kindly to being told that their success is a result of government-built roads and bridges.

In 1988, Michael Dukakis famously said, “This election is not about ideology; it’s about competence.” He lost. If Republicans want to win, Obama’s deeply revealing, teleprompter-free you-didn’t-build-that confession of faith needs to be hung around his neck until Election Day. The third consecutive summer-of-recovery-that-never-came is attributable not just to Obama being in over his head but, even more important, to what’s in his head: a government-centered vision of the economy and society, and the policies that flow from it.

Four years of that and this is what you get.

Make the case and you win the White House.

Did Obama Kill My Dog?

Should he have to prove he didn't?

With Obama's campaign accusing Romney of doing everything from killing a woman to not paying taxes why not return the favor?

The People's Cube has this idea for a campaign video. Maybe they can hire the same firm that does Obama's lying ads:

Transcript: [Sad Intro Music]
Camera pans and zooms away from offshore oil rig in undisclosed Gulf of Mexico region to focus on middle-aged man standing on the beach.

Man narrates:
When President Obama executed the moratorium on offshore drilling, I lost my job and my healthcare. We were grateful for the food stamps, but soon my wife grew ill from a bag of BBQ pork rinds she bought on her way back from the welfare office. We knew that Obama would come through for us thanks to the Affordable Care Act, so we just waited for the cure or check to come in the mail. It never did, and a few months later, my wife passed away.

Without a maternal role model in her life, my daughter hooked up with an Occupy Wall Street guy named, "Bong," who I never really liked. Soon, she became pregnant. As a loyal liberal, I immediately put her in the Prius to take her to Planned Parenthood.

I must have been distracted by all that was going on, because I didn't look as I backed out of the driveway, until I heard a, "Yelp!" When I got out, I saw our family dog, Hope, squished under my back tire.

I voted for Obama in 2008 - three times under different names. But now I don't think Obama really cares. I haven't seen any remorse for what he did to my family, except for maybe that moment of pensive contemplation on the 18th hole. He hasn't answered any of my letters.

I only have one question for my President: Why?

While you are visiting the People's Cube make sure to see "Dems' Epic Smears: Mitt Romney's Nazi Torture Cult: Only a woman's screams can make him smile." No doubt Dems will be using this in future ads!

Obama Ad Reveals Possible Illegal Campaign Coordination Between Pac and Campaign

But don't expect the law to be enforced. Laws, like standards for civility and truthtelling only apply to Republicans!

Earlier we reported the vicious ad from the Obama Pac which purports to link Mitt Romney to the death of a steel worker, Joe Soptic, lost his job after Romney's former firm closed the plant. Never mind that it had been years after Romney had given up control of Bain (or that Bain was actually being run by an Obama fund raiser). Never mind that the man's wife contracted cancer and died five years AFTER the man lost his steel worker job. Never mind that the woman who died had health insurance from her job several years after the steel worker was laid off.

In Obama's campaign, they don't let facts get in the way of big smear. And if they can find a patsy like Joe Soptic willing to go on television and deliberately LIE about it then so what?

That's bad enough but not only did Joe Soptic deliberately mislead people about his story, the Obama campaign may have broken federal campaign law by  coordinating with Soptic. When asked about any link between the two "We have nothing, no involvement, with any ads that are done by Priorities USA. We don't have any knowledge of the story of the family," Obama campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki said on Wednesday.

Obama Campaign spokespersons Stephanie Cutter and Robert Gibbs both denied any knowledge of the facts surrounding Soptic's claims. Yet, there is a recording of Stephanie Cutter with Soptic discussing the issue in a May conference call with reporters.

Here's the story:

The Obama Pac put out an ad that is full of lies. And the Obama Campaign lied about their connection to the story. For a White House in which truth is relative to which side of the political divide you are on this is nothing new. But do Americans want a President who can't tell the truth and doesn't seem to know what that means?

Get Back to School with Conservative Posters NOW!

Send those young minds into the liberal lion's den with ammunition!

Students headed to college love to decorate ugly dorm room walls with posters that express their personality. So, here's a great back to school gift idea for the college bound man or woman in your family.

There's a new service called Right Posters which has a wide assortment of posters with conservative and historical themes. Decorate those dorm room walls with the sayings of Ronald Reagan our Founding Fathers and many more. As a student of Winston Churchill, this is my favorite:

Right Posters are great for younger students at home and also for adults who want to make a statement in their workplace or home. Check 'em out today!

Emails Show Obama Administration Terminated Pensions for 20,000 Non Union Auto Workers

Obama claimed to save the auto industry. But all he did was pay off his union buddies at the expense of Middle Class workers!

Obama won't talk about his record of failure in job creation or the worst economic recovery since World War II. But he does claim, after killing Bin Laden (Bush had nothing to do with it right?) that he saved the Auto Industry. That's a hard claim to make with General Motors (or Government Motors) reporting a 41% drop in profit for the 2nd quarter, but still Obama persists. The Obama bailout of GM destroyed the property rights of bondholders and creditors but upheld and protected every dime of union benefits.

At the time the Obama Administration claimed that non-union pensions which were terminated under the scheme which gave Big Labor billions in payoffs had nothing to do with them. Now, release of internal government emails show that the Obama Administration was behind the termination of pension benefits to 20,000 workers. How many of those who lost their life's savings are now destitute and suffering?

And we have yet to scratch the surface of the auto dealerships across the country which were closed by the Obama Administration putting dealers, mechanics and salesmen out of work. Here's a brief ad from the Romney campaign which tells a part of that story:

Let's not forget also the NASA aerospace workers put out of work when Obama canceled the replacement rocket for the Space Shuttle giving the job of putting Americans into orbit to the Russians instead. Then there's the mountain of paperwork and new regulations which hamper small business and deter job creation.

Obama has done his best to stifle job creation while paying off his Big Labor bosses. It's almost as if he planned to destroy the Middle Class!

Obama Donor Linked to Woman's Death

As head of Bain Capital at the time, it was Obama big donor who laid off steelworker whose family lost health insurance!

The Obama Super Pac, Priorities USA, has a new ad out linking Mitt Romney to the death of the wife of a steel worker who lost his job and health insurance after Bain Capital, the firm once headed by Romney, closed the plant in 2001 after Romney had given up operational control.

Here's what the Obama Pac had Joe Soptic, the steel worker who lost his job, say:
Mitt Romney and Bain closed the plant, I lost my health care and my family lost their health care. And a short time after that my wife became ill.”
Soptic admits that he doesn't know WHEN his wife became ill but she died of cancer FIVE YEARS AFTER THE PLANT WAS CLOSED!

What makes the ad an absolute and total lie is the fact that Joe Soptic's wife HAD INSURANCE on her own after the period when Joe was laid off.
How, in good conscience (oh never mind, we're talking about Obama) can anyone infer Romney had a role in this woman's death years after her husband lost his job which was already past the time that Romney had removed himself from Bain's management?

And should we also forget that it was an Obama fundraiser who was running Bain during this same period?

What this ad from the Obama Pac shows is that his campaign will say ANYTHING to change the subject from Obama's appalling and transparent incompetence and corruption. But now, Obama's fundraisers are KILLING people to make their point!

Gallup: Obama Losing 14% of 2008 Voters

A BIG net gain for Romney!

91 Days to VICTORY!

A week ago when we began the COUNTDOWN TO VICTORY, I used a graphic which demonstrated the swing of votes to Obama in 2008 compared with 2004 and wondered how big the swing back would be this year. Now, a new Gallup Poll is helping to answer that question. Gallup asked 2,000 registered voters who said they voted in 2008 what their preference is this time around. Here are the results:

14% of Obama 2008 voters say they will vote for someone else in 2012. Of that number 9% for Romney. Of McCain 2008 voters, only 8% say they will vote for someone other than Romney.  That's a net gain for Romney of at least 6% and likely to be much higher once undecided voters make up their minds.

This Gallup result confirms anecdotal evidence related in a slew of recent articles showing the disaffection of Democrats with Obama. Here are two of  the most recent (1,2).

How big of a swing does Romney need? The Electoral College Swingometer lets you play political analyst. Punch in the percent of the swing back to Romney you expect and the Swingometer will recalculate the Electoral College based on the margin of victory in each state in 2008. A 9.2% swing gives the edge to Romney with 275 Electoral Votes to 263 for Obama.

9.2% might seem a tall order but with this result from Gallup, all that's needed is a big push from Romney to put him over the top. And with questions about whether Obama's campaign, with it's weakening finances, has already peaked an additional 3-4% for Romney is well within the range of possibility!

NASA Curiosity Rover Proves Superiority of American Space Technology

What a shame Obama has dismantled much of the manned space program!

Early Monday morning a spacecraft launched in November of last year made it to Mars. On arriving, a pod detached which hurtled towards the planet at over 13,000 mph. Shortly after entering the atmosphere a huge parachute opened to slow the craft. Approaching the surface, rockets fired in the first ever "space crane" to lower the one ton Curiosity Rover gently to the surface. It was a miracle of modern technology. The Daily Mail has the details including the first pictures returned showing a wheel of the giant Rover resting on Martian soil.

Meanwhile, Obama tried to horn in on the credit. Just as he did with the killing of Bin Laden (anything that goes wrong in his Administration is Bush's fault). My response to Obama: You didn't build that! Curiosity began as a NASA program in 2004 under the Bush Administration.

Obama canceled the next generation of NASA rockets and left the U.S. dependant on Russian spacecraft to take astronauts to the International Space Station. Thousands of highly skilled aerospace workers in Florida were put out of work.

Romney Whips Obama for Third Straight Month in Fundraising Race

But Obama continues to spend like the federal government!

Plus- Dick Morris report on an insider poll: Romney is doing well!

92 days to VICTORY!

On Monday, Obama hosts yet another fundraiser. This time in Connecticut. His visit to a swank seaside home filled with Hollywood celebrities will also mean the daylong closure of a nearby state park and beaches  thus depriving citizens seeking relief from the 90 degree heat any respite.

Obama, who has held more fundraisers than all previous presidents since Nixon COMBINED is desperate for cash. He's burning through money to fund his campaign with more than $70 million in spending in June alone.

Meanwhile, Romney has outraised Obama for three months in a row. Romney took in nearly $80 million more than Obama in May, June and July and has $186 million cash on hand when combined with GOP victory fundraising. Obama has not released his cash available number which is likely to be much lower as it was in June.

Obama has been spending heavily on the same grass roots organizing that led him to victory in 2008 over McCain. But unlike McCain, Romney will not be tied to the pledge to adhere to federal campaign spending limits (like so many other promises, this is another pledge Obama broke).

Romney has largely spent money donated to his campaign for primary purposes and is unable to spend the massive bankroll he is amassing for the general election until after the convention. Obama is betting that his early spending on grass roots will pay long term dividends. But Romney may be able to overwhelm those efforts in the final two months of the campaign.

Obama faces the very real danger that his popularity and funding may peak early and leave Romney with a runaway advantage in the final weeks.

Dick Morris: Private Poll Shows Romney Strength

In his Monday lunchtime video, Dick Morris discusses new polling which shows the race much closer than the flawed polls currently making news. Dick's video is a reminder that there will be many ups and downs as the race progresses but Morris feels, as I do, that the fundamentals are in Romney's favor.
