Ms. Streisand, who takes private jets and stretch limos between her several palatial homes, is not content with telling the rest of us we must conserve energy to save the planet. Noooo... this ultrarich, ultraliberal songstress has more to share with the world than song. Take her latest warning to the world found on her website: "A Country Controlled by Fear." There you'll find not the lyrics to a new song, but a paranoid rant projecting all the worst motives of neosocialsim onto President Bush and the conservative movement.
Here's a sample:
President Bush and the Religious Right's greatest political weapon has been perpetuating fear.
I also think the unfathomable fear of being a victim of another terrorist attack has allowed for the crumbling of the wall between church and state, which is a vital part of our historical, legal and political heritage. By allowing personal religious beliefs to infiltrate our political framework, we have enabled this administration to wage a war on women's reproductive rights, squelch scientific advancement, take away our freedom of speech and fill important positions within government and possibly the nation's highest courts with religious extremists. We must not let fear cripple our democracy.
Despite all of the Administration's mistakes and shortcomings, Bush was re-elected by the American people (regardless of the many accounts of possible voter fraud). People are unable to recognize they are being manipulated when they are paralyzed by fear because their government is constantly reminding them of an impending terrorist attack.
President Bush continues to maintain that he is doing everything in his power to make America safer. Thus far most of the country continues to accept this fallacy. Bush's actions remind me of Herman Goering's quote during the Nuremberg Trials, where he stated: "...it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders...all you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism..."
You would think after a while, Hollywood lefties would figure out that comparing President Bush to Nazis (Herman Goering in this case) was only going to backfire on them and destroy whatever credibility the balance of their argument might have. But if you read Ms. Streisand's entire diatribe you realize that she has no argument but is herself using FEAR as a weapon for political purposes. Of course she has to squawk up the usual bilge about the religious right. Never mind that her pals in the left have been pushing their brand of state worship for decades unopposed.
That was bad enough, but along comes Senate MINORITY Leader Harry Reid. You remember Harry? The Senator from Nevada whose sons and son in law have made hundred of thousands of dollars as lobbyists for legislation that good ole Harry passed on behalf of the people of Nevada? (Click here for a reminder)
While President Bush is in Europe to remind people of the sacrifice and struggle they and we endured to bring freedom to that troubled continent, good ole Harry, when not busy arranging another bit of sweet heart legisltation to benefit a member of his family had this to say:
"I think this guy is a loser...I think President Bush is doing a bad job," Las Vegas Review-Journal May 06, 2005
Harry: I never thought I would say this, but you actually make me miss Tom Daschole. He was a clown to be sure, but you Harry, are a classless ass of the first order.
One more note to Babs and Harry: FOUR MORE YEARS!!!
