Separation of Church and State Only for Republicans

Democrat Presidential candidates were campaigning from church pulpits this weekend in Selma, Alabama. Not only did Barrack Hussein Obama deliver a sermon speech in the historic Brown Chapel A.M.E. church loaded with religious references to Moses, Pharaoh, Abraham, Joshua, Aaron, Issac and Jacob and tied them all in with references to health care, minimum wage, Rolex watches, private jets and Oprah Winfrey.

Heck, Obama even managed to get in a plug for fellow Democrat and Muslim Congressman Keith Ellison.

No problem. Obama can campaign in a church and I won't even insist that the IRS revoke their tax exempt status. But just let a Republican candidate for high office try that and all hell (literally) breaks loose.

John Edwards Finds Jesus?

Meanwhile, John Edwards, another Democrat presidential candidate, invokes Jesus when he said that ""I think that Jesus would be disappointed in our ignoring the plight of those around us who are suffering and our focus on our own selfish short-term needs."

Again, if John Edwards want to invoke our Lord, fine by me. But if any Republican candidate for high office would do the same the separation of church and state hand wringers (who are nearly all Democrats) would be howling.

Has Edwards Apologized to Mary Cheney?

Speaking of John Edwards. He got some free publicity these past few days after Ann Coulter made an off the cuff remark about Edwards at the CPAC conference. Coulter's remarks gives "The Breck Girl" more attention than he deserves. But before Coulter apologizes, we're wondering when Edwards will apologize to Mary Cheney for violating her privacy during the 2006 presidential election. We're also wondering when Democrats outraged over Coulter's remarks will disavow the comments and articles written by Democrats last week hoping that Vice President Dick Cheney would have been killed in that attack in Afghanistan.

If Democrats want to play the "What Would Jesus Do Game?" I say good! It's about time they started focusing on morality and ethics. But thus far, most of them have demonstrated what Jesus would NOT do.
