Al Gore, who has gotten rich off global warming alarmism and subsequent green cronyism, is still at it. In an interview for Blomberg last week he said:
“The most powerful voice is that of Mother Nature, the increasing storms, floods, droughts and other extreme events,” Gore said. “We’re paying the cost of carbon every day and we should put a price on carbon in markets and put a price on denial in the political system.”Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry have said similar nonsense recently as well. Just one problem: not one word of it is true.
While CO2 emissions continue to rise worldwide, this despite a significant drop in U.S. emissions, the calamity predicted over the last 20 years by the global warming alarmists has not happened.
Take this year for example:
There have been many forecasts in the news in recent years predicting more and more extreme weather-related events in the US, but for 2013 that prediction has been way off the mark. Whether you’re talking about tornadoes, wildfires, extreme heat or hurricanes, the good news is that weather-related disasters in the US are all way down this year compared to recent years and, in some cases, down to historically low levels. And it's not just good news in the U.S. Global temperatures have flattened over the past decade and the polar ice caps are NOT melting. Just the opposite. This summer was one of the coldest on record for the Arctic. So much for the prediction that the Arctic would be ice free by 2008. What's next for the alarmists? A campaign to protect freezing Polar Bears?
It should come as no surprise that despite the attacks on those who disagree with the alarmist "sky is falling" crowd a growing number of earth scientists are no longer on board the alarmist bandwagon. A recent peer reviewed survey of earth scientists matches an earlier study of meteorologists in which a majority of those surveyed are skeptical of alarmist claims.
The latest review by the United Nations International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was largely greeted with a yawn as they had to concede things weren't as bad as previously claimed but insisted that was no reason to stop taxing energy in rich countries while poorer nations continue to go on burning fossil fuels.
Writing in the Washington Examiner Jim Lakely observes:
We’re all skeptics now because the science simply does not back up the hypothesis. For starters, there’s been no rise in global temperatures for 15 years.Lakely titled his article: "The age of climate alarmism is coming to an end." And while the wheels of the global warming alarmist bus certainly are coming off, the fraud will continue as long as governments and green cronies can keep raking in billions to fight a problem that never existed. After all, if truth be told, the great global warming scare has always been less about saving the planet than advancing a socialist agenda on a global scale. The following quote says it all:
The IPCC’s Fifth Assessment Report concedes for the first time that global temperatures have not risen since 1998, despite a 7 percent rise in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
To put that into perspective, global human CO2 emissions in the last 15 years represent about one-third of all human CO2 emissions since the start of the Industrial Revolution, and yet temperatures didn’t budge.
Nearly all of the UN-approved climate computer models were wrong. The IPCC finally admitted as much.
The IPCC also admits that the “hockey stick” it used to feature in past reports wasn’t accurate. Penn State professor Michael Mann has been dining out for years on his infamous "hockey stick,” a dread graph featured by Al Gore in his Oscar-winning documentary “An Inconvenient Truth.”
The graph looked so dramatic — like a hockey stick — only because it ignored the Medieval Warm Period, a time about a thousand years ago when temperatures were warmer than today — when wine grapes grew in England and Greenland was green.
The “hockey stick” is missing from the Fifth Assessment Report, and the IPCC admits the Medieval Warm Period was warmer and more global than it claimed in the past.
UPDATE: World Spends $1 Billion a Day to Combat Global Warming.
Imagine all the good that could be accomplished addressing REAL problems if that money were not being misspent on a giant fraud!
