The first interaction I had with Karl Rove was when I was serving in the White House Political Office under President Reagan and he was running congressional elections in Texas. The photo here was taken at a Beaufort County, GOP luncheon in Bluffton, SC in April 2002. At the time, Bush was compromising left and left with the likes of Teddy Kennedy. Had questions and answers been part of the format for that meeting I would have told Karl "All will be forgiven if you take back control of the Senate and get the Presdident re-elected."
