Chron.com Truck seized hauling load of bogus ballots: "BAGHDAD, IRAQ - Less than two days before nationwide elections, Iraqi border police seized a tanker truck on Tuesday that had just crossed from Iran filled with thousands of forged ballots, an official at Iraq's Interior Ministry said.
And if that were not bad enough, there's more:
In recent months, U.S. officials in Baghdad and Washington, along with their British counterparts, have contended that sophisticated bombs have been smuggled across the border from Iran, and that some of them have been used against U.S. and British soldiers. The bombs are thought to be far more sophisticated than most of the powerful but rather rudimentary ones used to attack U.S. tanks and convoys here.Update: Plenty of questions have arisen regarding the accuracy of the forged ballot issue. Critics question not only the accuracy of the story but whether it indicates an effort to undercut the validity of the Iraqi election. Iraqis themselves are keenly aware of the desire for a clean election, as witnessed at Iraq the Model.
All those who stand for freedom want a clean election in Iraq, just as we want untainted elections in places like Seattle, Milwaukee, Philadephia....
Whether this particular story turns out to be true or false, Iranian meddling remains an issue of concern.
