A media firestorm lasted for at least a week demanding first one apology, then another, and finally forced Lott to resign his leadership post. Al Gore described Lott's comment as "racist" anddemanded the Senate censure Lott, while Jesse Jackson called for Lott to resign.

Where's Al Gore? Stuck in a snowdrift on his way to a Global Warming conference? Where's Jesse "Shakedown" Jackson? Maybe Jackson is taking a bath or language lessons. Or perhaps he's visiting his parole officer.
And what about the Congressional Black Caucus?
As for Biden's apology or resignation as Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committe forget it. His only statement thus far was something confusing about Obama being "clean as a whistle and sharp as a tack."
Well Biden's comment was tacky to say the least. And let's not forget Biden's other demonstration of the kind of remark that is only racist if the speaker is a Republican. In July 2006 he was trolling for votes in New Hamshire and he said: "In Delaware, the largest growth in population is Indian-Americans moving from India. You cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I'm not joking . . ."
