Top Story on Al Jazeera: Damascus Nancy

No better evidence than the success of the Democrat campaign to undermine U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East than the second story from the top on Al Jazeera. Underscoring that division, is the last line in the Al Jazeera story: "Democrats have argued that the US should engage with its rivals in the region - Iran and Syria - to make headway in easing the problems in Iraq, Lebanon and the Israeli-Arab peace process."

Photos of the U.S. House Speaker are being splashed all over the Arab world of her meeting with Syrian dictator Assad. Syria remains on the terrorist state list, placed there by President Carter and reaffirmed by every President, Republican or Democrat since then.

In the photo at right, she speaks under the gaze of a poster showing dictator Assad and his late father Hafez. The Assad clan is directly responsible for terrorist acts which have killed scores of Americans over the past 25 years.

But here we have a woman with absolutely no authority, and certainly no responsibility, nor accountability (they never accept any responsibility for their actions, but demand it of Republicans) directly challenging the legal constitutional authority of the elected U.S. officials charged with that responsibility.

Appeasement in Our Times!

Reminiscent of Neville Chamberlains ill-time words upon returning from Munich and his negotiations with Adolf Hitler, House Speaker Pelosi declared: "We were very pleased with the reassurances we received from the president (Assad) that he was ready to resume the peace process. He was ready to engage in negotiations (for) peace with Israel," Pelosi said.
