Lock the stupid, brat, bimbo up and throw away the key!
Hour after hour the news channels have been covering this ridiculous Paris Hilton. So many helicopters hovered over the poor little rich girl's house I imagine they had to get their own air traffic controller. Then she went to court with an armada of news choppers overhead that hasn't been seen in Los Angeles since O.J. Simpson tried to escape in the white Bronco.
Now, this screaming brat is on her way to jail again. It's indicative of this idiotic celebrity culture we live in where anyone thinks that anything this woman, or her any of her Hollywood friends, does is interesting or newsworthy. The only part of the story worth covering is why she received ANY preferential treatment. Other than that, no news here.
Meanwhile, President Bush is in Europe to attend the G-8 Summit of Industrial Nations. Meetings with European leaders like Russia's President Vladimir Putin may also decide what form U.S. missile defense in cooperation with our allies in Czechoslovakia and Poland may take. The importance of this issue in the wake of North Korean and Iranian sabre rattling cannot be overstated.
Yet almost NO "news" media coverage?
Also today, tens of thousands of U.S. and coalition soldiers are on the ground in Iraq doing their best to secure that nation against Al Queda and Baathist holdouts who continue to use violence to derail reconstruction in that nation. Many of these brave men and women are the same age or younger than this spoiled brat Paris.
Had any of these brave soldiers sacrificed their lives for the cause of freedom, the "news" media might have cut away from the helicopters covering Paris for a few seconds at best. But did you see ANY mention of the good news from Iraq today? Flopping Aces has a post which lists some of the good stuff that our troops accomplished recently in Iraq. All of it was more important than some idiotic rich bimbo.
The foiled JFK bomb plot proved that we're a nation at a time of war where there are REAL life and death issues which impact the lives of every single American. Nothing Paris Hilton says or does will make my life or that of my fellow citizens better or safer. The same goes for every other Hollywood nitwit.
When will we have a news channel that uses it's resources to inform the American people and not simply pander to celebrity voyeurism?
