On January 11, 1989 President Reagan delivered a farewell address from the Oval Office at the White House. The video and text for the entire address is here. In the minds of many Americans old enough to remember, President Reagan is likely to remain the greatest President of their lifetime and this speech is a good example why. If you don't get a little teary eyed at the end you're either not human or a Democrat (yes, I know that's redundant). The following is the last six minutes of that address:
"All in all, not bad, not bad at all."
As I walk off into the city streets, a final word to the men and women of the Reagan revolution, the men and women across America who for 8 years did the work that brought America back. My friends: We did it. We weren't just marking time. We made a difference. We made the city stronger, we made the city freer, and we left her in good hands. All in all, not bad, not bad at all.
--President Ronald Wilson Reagan, January 11, 1989
