There Once Was a Speaker Named Nancy

Former GOP Prez candidate Mike Huckabee wrote a little poem about Nancy Pelosi. It inspired my short effort:

There once was a Speaker named Nancy.

She was dumb as a post but dressed quite fancy.

When she said CIA lied, we laughed 'til we cried.

We watched as she danced and became quite antsy.

'Cause records showed her lie was really most nasty.

In related news, Democrats are criticizing Rep. Pete Hoekstra, who has been out front in demands that documents be produced showing what Pelosi and other Dems knew about enhanced interrogations. Sylvestre Reyes (D-Texas), who replaced Hoekstra as chair of the House Intelligence Committee when Democrats took control of the House of Representatives in 2006 had this to say:
House Intelligence Chairman Silvestre Reyes (D-Texas) is accusing his Republican counterpart, Rep. Pete Hoekstra (Mich.), of compromising national security in order to stoke the ongoing flap over what Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) knew about harsh Bush-era interrogation techniques.

“It’s irresponsible what Republicans are doing, particularly in Mr. Hoekstra’s case,” Reyes said Tuesday. “When you’re asking to declassify material that’s been classified for a very good reason — that’s the height of irresponsibility.”

One wonders if Reyes had the same reaction to Obama's release of the classified memos which started the whole torture flap in the first place? It's clear what we have here is another example of Dems who want to keep secret anything that might embarrass them but have no qualms about releasing secrets that might embarrass Republicans or alert our enemies.

Hoekstra isn't staying quiet. He was on a Fox News program this evening describing the documents which prove beyond doubt that Pelosi was briefed on specific interrogation techniques that were used.

Readers may recall that Reyes isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer. In an interview in 2006 he didn't know that Al Queda terrorists are Sunni, not Shia and didn't seem to have a clue who Hezbollah was. Reyes got so flustered he blurted out “Why do you ask me these questions at five o’clock? Can I answer in Spanish? Do you speak Spanish?” He makes Pelosi look like a genius.

Finally, William Kristol speculates in Monday's Washington Post that CIA Chief Leon Panetta, former congressman from California and White House Chief of Staff under Clinton, might have had White House clearance before sending out the memo which basically exposed Pelosi as a liar. You sure don't send out a letter like that without getting approval from the top.

Is it possible that Obama would like to see Pelosi knocked down a few pegs or replaced altogether?
