We bend over backwards in America to be tolerant, even to a fault. And while Christians can't build churches in Saudi Arabia, let alone Mecca, we accept that Moslems may build mosques in the U.S.
But it pushes tolerance too far to accept a huge mosque built at the site of the September 11th attacks at Ground Zero in New York set to open on the 10th anniversary of that atrocity. A monument to Mohammed on the site of these atrocious and cowardly attacks is wrong. Opposition to this mosque need not be about Islamophobia or religious freedom. It's a simple matter of right and wrong. And this is wrong.
The National Republican Trust put out this ad:
There are calls in New York for an investigation (here, here) as to where the $100 million proposed funding for this mosque is coming from. Surely, it's not too much to ask if money from radical sources is being used?
