The decision to exclude the American premier and his wife Michelle from the celebrations marks a break from tradition.Imagine that! The biggest, most glamorous event of the year with worldwide media coverage and the Obama's won't be able to strut their stuff? Something tells me that urgent diplomatic cables will be sent from Washington to our Ambassador in London ordering him to plead for an invite. This is one case in which I wish there was a Wiki Leak!
Prince Charles and Princess Diana invited then-American president Ronald Reagan and his wife Nancy to their 1981 ceremony – though she came alone because the president was too ill to travel following an assassination attempt on him.
A senior courtier said: ‘It is certainly not the case that all foreign heads of state will be excluded. The guest list is still being drawn up and could change, but as things stand it’s right (to say Mr Obama will not be invited).’

Maybe Kate and William remember when Michelle blew into town on Air Force Three in June of 2009 and tourists in Westminster Abbey were ordered up against the wall to make way for her and her entourage. Who wants that kind of behavior on their wedding day?
