Outgoing House Speaker standing with her minions as she claims the deficit reduction was a "high priority" for the old 111th Congress. To Pelosi's right is Rep. Debbie Wasserman Shultz (D-FL) who must be tied with Pelosi as the dumbest woman in Congress and to the right of Debbie is the cadaverous Rosa DeLauro (D-CT).
Is Nancy Pelosi stupid? Or does she think we are or both? I couldn't believe it when I heard her say the following on Tuesday at a news conference marking the end of the 111th Congress: "Deficit reduction has been a high priority for us. It is our mantra, pay-as-you-go."
That statement is an insult to the intelligence of the American people. The truth of the matter is that under Nancy Pelosi's Speakership federal spending and the deficit have exploded. And since Obama took over the White House the problem grew much worse. And "pay-as-you-go" has been exposed as a gimmick and a fraud.
Consider this:
When the Pelosi Democrats took control of Congress on January 4, 2007, the national debt stood at $8,670,596,242,973.04. The last day of the 111th Congress and Pelosi's Speakership on December 22, 2010 the national debt was $13,858,529,371,601.09 - a roughly $5.2 trillion increase in just four years. Furthermore, the year over year federal deficit has roughly quadrupled during Pelosi's four years as speaker, from $342 billion in fiscal year 2007 to an estimated $1.6 trillion at the end of fiscal year 2010.Four years of Democrat control of the U.S. House of Representatives has resulted in an explosion of debt which has laid a fiscal timebomb for all Americans in the not so distant future.
Democrats answer: raise debt ceiling and more spending
This fiscal trainwreck awaits the GOP House to be sworn in Wednesday. Democrats are already requesting a hike in the current debt ceiling which would allow even greater deficit spending.
It's time to stop this nightmare before it gets worse! No more increases in the debt limit with only lip service and empty promises to control spending or gimmicks to hide behind as the deficits continue to pile up.
Thank goodness the adults are back in charge of the U.S. House. Let's wish them every success as they fight the good fight to restore fiscal sanity to Washington!
