Remember those who died for your freedom!
Looking back at past posts on Memorial Day you might think I have covered the theme (2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006). In these I found history, speeches from Lincoln at Gettysburg to Reagan at Normandy, monuments and music. All to highlight what this day means. What could I add that would be new or original? Nothing. But that's not the point. The sacrifice of so many who fought and died for our freedoms is not a new or original concept. But it does require we rededicate ourself to the memory of those who gave us what Abraham Lincoln called "that last full measure of devotion" so that we may be free.
Without so many brave young men (and now women) willing to give up the comforts of family and home to fight and many to die in overseas hell holes we would not be able to enjoy the freedom we have today. It is our duty to honor the sacrifice made by these heroes.
