Newt is doing GOP voters a favor by exposing Romney's weak points now, BEFORE he is the nominee!
Newt Gingrich is taking a lot of heat from Republicans for exposing the dark side of Mitt Romney's experience at Bain Capital. Frankly, their complaints would have greater credibility if those who are now complaining about Newt had also taken Romney to task when his Pac was trashing Newt in Iowa.
Newt tried to run a very positive campaign in Iowa. In return, Romney's Super Pac unleashed a storm of negative ads attacking Newt. Nearly half the ads run prior to the Iowa Caucus were attack ads directed at Newt. Most of those were funded by Romney's Pac. Now, Gingrich's Super Pac is running ads critical of Romney. Seems fair to me.
If the criticism of Romney's role in Bain Capital is damaging, isn't it far better we discuss it now than wait until Obama and the Dems make it front page news for weeks starting around Labor Day?
When Newt complained of the negative ads Romney's Pac launched against him in Iowa, Mitt said "if you can’t stand the relatively modest heat in the kitchen right now wait until Obama’s hell’s kitchen shows up." Mitt also said "I’m a big boy" and suggested he could take it. Well, seems those defending Mitt now must have some doubts about his ability to take the heat.
UPDATE: Romney Pac Continues Negative Ads Directed at Newt!
I just heard an ad on one of our local South Carolina radio stations paid for by Mitt Romney's Super Pac, Restore Our Future, calling Newt Gingrich "desperate" for running ads critical of Romney. Up until last week this same group was running ads which said that both Gingrich and Perry supported amnesty for illegal aliens. The claim is a bald faced lie and especially troubling when you consider Mitt Romney's flip flops on illegal immigration.
Mitt Romney's PAC waged what many would consider a "desperate" effort to attack Newt Gingrich and it worked. How interesting that now the shoe is on the other foot they cry foul!
