If the tea leaves are correct you can mark this day as the one where Joe Biden sealed his fate in a humiliating loss to President Trump.
Biden's selection of Sen. Kamala Harris as his running mate is an odd choice. let's examine a few of the angles here.
First, the conventional wisdom is that most voters do not vote for the top of the ticket because of who the presidential nominee picked as a running mate. That thinking may be sidelined this year because nearly everyone recognizes Joe Biden is unfit for office thus making the #2 spot on the ticket imperative.
In the past the top of the ticket may select a vice presidential nominee who exhibited a strong showing in the primary process as a way of uniting the party. Think Reagan's selection of George H.W. Bush. But Kamala utterly failed as a presidential candidate. Google her name and the word "unlikeable" to see why. She never won a single primary or got even one delegate to the Democrat convention that won't actually take place anyway.
Go back to the New York Times article after she dropped out of the race:
How Kamala Harris’s Campaign UnraveledThe other dynamic about picking a running mate is that the selection is supposed to be able to carry a difficult to win home state. Does this pick signal that California might not go for Biden? Doubtful!
Ms. Harris is the only 2020 Democrat who has fallen hard out of the top tier of candidates. She has proved to be an uneven campaigner who changes her message and tactics to little effect and has a staff torn into factions.
...
To some Democrats who know Ms. Harris, her struggles indicate larger limitations.
“You can’t run the country if you can’t run your campaign,” said Gil Duran, a former aide to Ms. Harris and other California Democrats who’s now the editorial page editor of the Sacramento Bee.
And despite the media's best attempt to say Harris didn't call Biden a racist in debates, she sure came close. We'll be seeing this video again as debates loom. Providing Biden shows up for the debate:
California senator Kamala Harris confronted former vice president Joe Biden over his civil rights record during the second Democratic debate. “I do not believe you are a racist,” Harris said, looking directly at the former vice-president. “But, it is personal and it was actually hurtful to hear you talk about the reputations of two United States senators who built their reputations and career on the segregation of race in this country.” Biden labelled the accusation "a mischaracterisation of my position".
Why Did Biden Pick Harris? George Soros and Wall Street Billionaires!

Wall Street billionaires have long been a fan of Harris. Someone they can count on to make sure THEIR gravy train of tax breaks continues while keeping down the opposition. It's as simple as that!
So, Kamala, the unlikable failed candidate and ancestral slave owner will now be the first "black" candidate for Vice President. Say hello to the Trump landslide!
