The Cartoon War: We Are All Danes Now!

From the United American Committee Islamic fanatics at Ground Zero in New York. But don't you dare trample their civil liberties and get in the way of their takeover plans.

Denmark: An Easy Target?

The latest Moslem rioting over a few cartoons in an obscure Danish newspaper that no one in the Gaza Strip, Syria, London or elsewhere ever heard of should set off alarm bells in the minds of those not yet acquainted with the true nature of the enemy we face in this war.

It has become clear that the riots and threats of death to those who blaspheme a murdering, theiving "prophet" who started his own religion (kind of like the Mormons, only founded on the death of any who reject the founders "wisdom") was not simply a spontaneous act of discovery and subsequent outrage by Muslims who all of a sudden noticed the newspaper "Jyllands Posten" on the shelves of the Gaza 7-11 store. (If you don't speak Danish any better than the illiterates in Gaza, an English language version of the paper is here.)

Gateway Pundit points out that the Islamic Society of Denmark, an extreme fringe group, has been touring the Middle East, and even added particularly gross and offensive images that were never part of the cartoon series in an effort to incite violence and hatred.

There is more going on here than just simple outrage over a few cartoons.

Last June, President Bush visited Denmark (Denmark facts here) to thank them for their strong support in the war and particularly for the 500 troops they sent to Iraq. During his visit,Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen expressed his support by saying " "It's our common desire to spread liberty and promote democracy."

Sending troops to Iraq, inviting President Bush to Denmark and expressing solidarity with our strategy for peace. The Danish Prime Minister might as well have put a target on his back.

Denmark may just be the low hanging fruit on the tree in the radical Muslim war against Western civilization which has already seen action last year on the streeets of Paris and the Subways of London.

Muslims in Denmark Face A Choice: Radical Islam or Secularim?

Muslims make up about 5% of Denmark's population (around 270,000). Yet the Islamic Society of Denmark, which has been spreading and inciting the violence, claims only a small fraction of membership among Danish Muslims. It may be that this attempt to incite violence serves two purposes: One, to cement anti-Western feeling throughout the wider Muslim world encouraging war against the infidels and Two, to force Danish Muslims to adhere to the stricter, radical interpretation of Islam which the Islamic Society of Denmark represents.

One hopeful sign: A backlash against violence and extremism by secular Muslims in Denmark is underway.

“There is a large group of Muslims in this city who want to live in a secular society and adhere to the principle that religion is an issue between them and God and not something that should involve society,” said Bünyamin Simsek, a city councillor in Arhus, Denmark.

So perhaps there is hope. If enough non-radical Muslims will organize and express their rights to enjoy the freedoms of Western society, the radicals would be marginalized and contained.

For moderate Muslims it comes down to a choice: cede all authority to define the lives of not just Muslims but all in Western Society to a radical extreme that governs by violence, or stand up and demand the free expression of the same democratic rights which radicals cling to when it suits their purposes?

Certainly that would go a long way to solving the problem of Muslim extremism and providing the grounds to further extend freedom and liberty, along with peace and justice to the world.

And what of "moderate" Muslims in the United States? Check the Council on America-Islamic Relations web site. In the list of press releases, do you find any bulletins calling on moderate Muslims to stand up for their rights and renounce the pressure and intimidation of those who preach violence?

Failure to reject the tactics of intimidation and violence by an extreme Islamic faction only empowers that group and weakens what we all hope are the vast majority of Muslims who reject such evident evil.

Governments and private citizens alike will be called to choose which path leads to peace. Accepting the truth about the enemy is the first step.

Note: The Brussel's Journal, which has covered this story from the beginning, has an index of the story history on this subject at the end of the inital post.

Thanks City Troll for London photos.

Update: Sparks from the Anvil unearthed the following apology, apparently by moderate Moslems, displaying the Palestinian flag on their page: Sorry Norway and Denmark. You may wish to sign their guestbook and encourage other moderate Muslims to come forward.
