Don't these kids know the rules? Only Democrats can mock with racial stereotypes!
Oh how offensive! She Must be punished!
Here's the story. Students at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas threw a party at a private home on Martin Luther King day and photos from the event, where white participants dressed in afro wigs or as Aunt Jemima, drank malt liquor and ate fried chicken were posted on one of the student's web pages. Donald Ray Elder, president of the university NAACP chapter saw the photos and was offended. Numerous apologies from the party organizer did not suffice to quell his outrage, nor did a campus wide event held Wednesday night where no doubt the white racist crackers were informed that race relations would be defined according to the rules and standards set down by the NAACP. Kind of a one way street for guilt and accountability.
Where Do Students Get These Ideas?
Clearly, the idea of having a party where participants are encouraged to mock other people with offensive racial stereotypes is wrong. The question is where do students come up with these ideas?
Could it be that they have professors on campus who have compared Clarence Thomas to Uncle Tom and Condi Rice to Aunt Jemima?
Perhaps they've heard the remarks of Harry Belafonte, who called both Colin Powell and Condi Rice "house slaves." Or maybe they saw any of the hundreds of cartoons and images equating black republicans as Uncle Tom's, Lawn Jockeys, Aunt Jemimas, or with stereoptyped, exagerated physical features:
Feel free to email Mr. Elder and express your views. You might also send a note to Wanda Mercer, the school's vice president of student life, who plans to investigate the party.
