It seems that even after Trump's hugely successful speech on Tuesday the hate and disinformation campaign against him will continue unabated. This time it was Attorney General Jeff Sessions accused of lying to Congress for failing to disclose he met with the Russian Ambassador.
But here's the question Sessions was asked during his confirmation hearing:
Franken: CNN just published a story alleging that the intelligence community provided documents to the president-elect last week, that included information that “Russian operatives claim to have compromising personal and financial information about Mr. Trump.” These documents also allegedly say “there was a continuing exchange of information during the campaign between Trump surrogates and intermediaries for the Russian government.” Again, I’m telling you this as it’s coming out, so you know. But if it’s true, it’s obviously extremely serious, and if there is any evidence that anyone affiliated with the Trump campaign communicated with the Russian government in the course of this campaign, what will you do?The question to Sessions was ENTIRELY in the context of the campaign and Sessions answered truthfully. Sessions did have a meeting with the Russian Ambassador in the course of his duties as a U.S. Senator on the Armed Services Committee and that meeting was attended by two of his senior staff members, military advisers not political staff. Sessions also met with 25 other foreign ambassadors during this period. That's his job and every Democrat now calling for him to resign knows it. They've all done the same thing!
Sessions: Senator Franken, I’m not aware of any of those activities. I have been called a surrogate at a time or two in that campaign and I did not have communications with the Russians, and I’m unable to comment on it.
Franken: Very well.
Nevertheless Democrats insisted he lied and should resign and called for a Special Prosecutor. Many of the same Democrats defended former Attorney General Eric Holder even after he was charged with contempt of Congress, the first cabinet official ever to receive that censure.
Democrats piled on with many insisting THEY had never met the Russian Ambassador only to have photographs and tweets of those meetings made public. Should those Democrats who LIED about these meetings be investigated?
I hereby demand a second investigation, after Schumer, of Pelosi for her close ties to Russia, and lying about it. https://t.co/qCDljfF3wN— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 3, 2017
It's all part of the media game. Drive the coverage about a Trump cabinet official, even if there is no "there there" but do your best to cover up the gross corruption of a Democrat Attorney General. What do you expect from a corrupt media and FAKE NEWS?
But some are starting to get it. Even if it's just temporary guilty feelings:
It hardly matters to Democrats that this latest attack on Sessions is a giant lie. They'll just keep spinning one after the other in their effort to distract and undermine Trump. While they might fool a relative handful of their willfully misled followers, Real Americans won't be fooled. They know who and what the Democrats have become!Put together a timeline on what Sessions did and said, and am now thinking that Dems are overplaying their hand. https://t.co/qSyBftV9Lf— Philip Bump (@pbump) March 2, 2017
