In the Senate inquisition of Judge Kavanaugh last week multiple Democrats thought it was important to question the witness about his high school yearbook, and attempted thereby to link him to lose morals and drunkenness.
The same Democrats, while trying to help Christine Blasey Ford recover her long lost memories of the night she claimed Kavanaugh attacked her carefully avoided any reference to Ford's yearbook.
Oddly enough, like Ford's social media postings, these yearbooks have been scrubbed from the internet. Nevertheless, copies have been found and it's not pretty. And now we know why.
"Chrissy" as she was known then was cited as a party girl at a school which was not shy about documenting boys, booze, promiscuity and racism.
Here's Chrissy at a Halloween party. Estimated to be just weeks after the alleged assault occurred. Though no one knows for sure since Ford can't remember when the attack she claimed happened. Was alcohol a factor in that and so many other memory lapses?
"Chrissy" Blasey far right at Halloween party. |
“Lastly one cannot fail to mention the climax of the junior social scene, the party. Striving to extend our educational experience beyond the confines of the classroom, we played such intellectually stimulating games as Quarters, Mexican Dice and everyone’s favorite, Pass-Out, which usually resulted from the aforementioned two.”Photos of beer cans, minors drinking heavily and the motto: "boys, beer and “the ‘Zoo’ atmosphere," contribute to the notion that cheerleader Chrissy enjoyed herself perhaps a bit too much.
“Beach week culminated the year for those of us lucky enough to go. With school and our minds in temporary recess, we were able to release all those troubling inhibitions of the past year. While dancing in the middle of coastal Highway, Ann [redacted last name] and friends picked up some men who passed out in their apartment…”Think I am making too much of it? The clincher:
“And there were always parties to celebrate any occasion. Although these parties are no doubt unforgettable, they are only a memory lapse for most, since loss of consciousness is often an integral part of the party scene.”I don't know what kind of high school most readers went to but mine did not celebrate inebriation to the point of unconsciousness. Chrissy's did!
There were also keg parties and male strippers. But none of the Senators so inquisitive about Kavanaugh's yearbook, which was absolutely tame by comparison, ever bothered to ask Chrissy about hers. And of course the Republicans are either too scared or too polite to raise the issue.
In one entry the girls bragged about having their pick of the men at local boys schools. If Kavanaugh's yearbook used the same language Democrats would point to it as proof of predatory sexual behavior.
Chrissy's party lifestyle didn't end with high school. She is reported to have been a waitress at Waterfront, a raucous bayside bar in Dewey Beach, Delaware. [Full disclosure: Mike's America has been to Dewey Beach. Yes, it's a party town!] According to the report, things were "pretty wild" in Dewey Beach and Blasey Ford even had two men fight over her.
Is it any wonder Ford wanted to keep her identity secret? While the information has been largely scrubbed (how long will Google allow this post to remain?) there's enough out there to raise real questions about what really went on. We also have a better understanding of why her immediate family, including mother and father declined to sign a letter supporting her version of events. The Washington Post has that story.
The bottom line? It's no wonder Ford can't recall any details of this alleged attack. And it's likely not the worst thing to have happened to her during this time.
