The monster of the Middle East is dead. Thanks to a U.S. drone strike directed at Iran's top general Quds Force leader Qassem Soleimani as he arrived in Baghdad Iraq. What was he doing in Iraq? Causing trouble and planning more attacks on Americans following the attack on our embassy and the killing of an American in a separate attack last week.
NY Times: The strikes followed a warning on Thursday afternoon from Defense Secretary Mark T. Esper, who said the United States military would pre-emptively strike Iranian-backed forces in Iraq and Syria if there were signs the paramilitary groups were planning more attacks against American bases and personnel in the region.It's impossible to overstate the malevolence of this monster. The Quds Force he headed is responsible for Thousands of Americans dead and tens of thousands left with severe life altering injuries because of Iranian backed attacks on U.S. soldiers in Iraq, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan. Add to that tens of thousands of innocent men, women and children throughout Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Afghanistan and Yemen.
“If we get word of attacks, we will take pre-emptive action as well to protect American forces, protect American lives,” Mr. Esper said. “The game has changed.”
“This strike was aimed at deterring future Iranian attack plans,” the Pentagon statement added. “The United States will continue to take all necessary action to protect our people and our interests wherever they are around the world.”
Washington Examiner: The truth is that Trump deserves enormous credit for the bold move of eliminating somebody who has done more to destabilize the Middle East than perhaps any single figure. Mark Dubowitz, an Iran expert and CEO of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, declared the event to be even bigger than the killing of bin Laden. Soleimani has been described as the architect of Iran's strategy to wreak havoc in the Middle East to gain control of the region, from Tehran to the Mediterranean Sea. As part of a strategy he conceived and implemented, Iran has supported terrorist actions against the U.S. and its allies in Iraq, bolstered the brutal regime of Bashar Assad in Syria, supported and advised the terrorist group Hezbollah in Lebanon, and flamed the civil war in Yemen by supporting the radical Houthi movement.Democrats attack Trump, Some Side with Iran
The killing of Soleimani did not happen in a vacuum, but after a steady escalation of Iranian attacks on the U.S., most recently, the assault against the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad. Despite the media's best efforts to manufacture a narrative about "Trump's Benghazi," the violence was not some sort of organic populist reaction to recent U.S. airstrikes. Nor was it a sequel to the hapless Obama administration's reaction to the terrorist assault on the U.S. compound in Libya. It was the latest example of Iran's aggression against America that's been orchestrated to distract Iraqis from Iran's malevolence in their nation.

While most Dems acknowledge Soleimani was a monster many can't help but criticize Trump for killing him. From Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) complaining he wasn't notified in advance so he could leak it to the 2020 Dems all seemed more concerned that Trump acted than they did for the crimes committed by the monster. Worse still, behind the scenes Dems have been colluding with Iranians and offering a new phase of appeasement for Iran if Trump is defeated in the election.

Marc Thiessen: Secretary of State Mike Pompeo accused members of the Obama administration of undermining President Trump’s maximum pressure campaign on Iran by telling the Iranians to “just hang on” until Trump loses in 2020.None of this should surprise anyone paying attention. After all, Obama invited one of the Iranian backed terrorists responsible for attacks on Americans to the White House!
“I'll be straight up with you,” Pompeo says in an interview for the American Enterprise Institute’s national security podcast “What The Hell Is Going On?,” which I co-anchor with my colleague Dany Pletka, “you have folks who served in the previous administration who are telling the Iranian leaders today, ‘Just hang on. President Trump will lose in the election in November and we'll go back to appeasement. America will write you a big check, we'll underwrite your terror campaign around the world, we'll give you a clear pathway to a nuclear weapon system. Just wait until the Trump administration is finished.’”
This is outrageous. When President Trump came to office, Iran was on the march across the Middle East, its expansionism fueled by cash it received from the Obama nuclear deal.

Tens of thousands of Iraqis and Syrians are dead because of Soleimani. Why are Democrats on the wrong side of history?
