While Dems Are Crowing Over Increased Primary Turnout Compared to 2016, Trump is Also Surging

And Dems in some states are still behind enthusiasm/turnout for 2008!

Liberal sites like Vox are so happy that Dem primary voter turnout for 2020 is up over 2016. Evidence some say that the blue wave which swept midterm elections in 2018 is still alive.

What they don't say is that in most states that great turnout is still below the Dems 2008 primary turnout:

But what none of these people are reporting is that there is a huge surge in pro Trump primary vote even though the President is not contested by any serious challenger:

THE HILL: In Vermont and Minnesota, Trump’s vote totals beat every past incumbent’s total in the last four decades. In Maine, the president’s vote total bested every primary candidate’s total since before President Ronald Reagan. In Massachusetts, the story was similar, with Trump aggregating a higher vote total than past incumbent Republicans since before Reagan.

And in deeply blue California, with 82 percent of precincts reporting, President Trump collected nearly 1.4 million votes.

Turnout numbers similarly showcased the enthusiasm of Republican voters. In Colorado, for example, Republican turnout for Trump on Tuesday was greater than the past three Republican primaries combined.

Indeed, Tuesday night’s results are reflective of the data the Trump campaign collects in the lead-up to rallies. The campaign routinely finds that about a quarter of those who register to attend Trump rallies are Democrats and around 10 percent to 15 percent did not vote in 2016.

For example, in Nevada – the most recent blue state where the Trump campaign held a rally – 27 percent of rally registrants were black or Latino and 32 percent of registrants overall did not vote in 2016.

DAILY CALLER: In Texas, President Trump received nearly the same number of votes as all the Democrat candidates combined, and 1.2 million more votes than the Democrat winner.

In Colorado, turnout for the Republican Primary was higher than for the three previous presidential primaries combined.

In Alabama, President Trump nearly doubled the number of votes any other candidate in the state has received in the last 40 years, and added 300,000 votes to his 2016 primary result.

In Arkansas, the President received more votes than all the Democrat candidates combined.

In Massachusetts, Maine, Minnesota, Tennessee, and Vermont, President Trump received more votes than any incumbent in more than three decades.

In North Carolina and Oklahoma, the President won a higher vote percentage than any incumbent president since before Reagan.

This was not a new trend, President Trump more than doubled the total number of votes received in New Hampshire by then-incumbent Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and even Ronald Reagan. None of those presidents faced serious primary challenges, either, yet President Trump rocketed past the number of votes they received.
