As I recount in the post below, Obama promised vulnerable House Dems that they could count on him to help save them from the "electoral bloodbath" headed their way. Like so many of Obama's promises, that one appears to have evaporated too.
The Dem Congressional Committee charged with electing Democrats to Congress is about to cut loose those who cannot be saved from defeat. What is really stunning in this Politico article is the revelation that "60 districts targeted for advertising by the DCCC, 54 are held by Democrats." It's a startling admission of how much of defense Dems are in this election.
Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Chris Van Hollen sent a cold-blooded message Friday to underperforming party candidates: Get your act together or you’re on your own.Sorry Chris, your candidates have already chosen to leave you, Pelosi and Obama behind!
Facing a perilous political environment that has left the House Democratic majority in jeopardy, Van Hollen told reporters in a briefing at the National Press Club that the party faced a series of looming difficult decisions about which candidates to invest in this fall – and who to leave behind.
