Right Wingers Become Right Whiners! I'd Rather be a Right WINNER!

I made the following comment at Bacon Bits and thought it would make a good recap of my latest thoughts on the Meirs nomination:

Bush has his eyes on the prize, which is the COURT, not the FIGHT.

Seems many of our conservative friends have gone from being Right Wingers to Right Whiners? I?d rather be a RIGHT WINNER!

We're NEVER going to get the conservative government that would allow us to fill the court with certifiable conservatives if we behave like spoiled children who didn't get what they wanted for Christmas.

I logged onto Confirmthem.com and posted the news at 7:05 AM Monday that Meirs was the pick. When I visited again an hour later, I thought I had logged onto Democrats Underground by mistake. It seemed that many on our side were ready to burn their Republican Party membership cards and just cede the field to the Democrats.

As I said on a few posts on this subject, what kind of court nominations would President Hillary make? How do you like the sound of Speaker Nancy Pelosi or Senate Majority Leader Reid?

I'm signing up with Patrick Ruffini's "Coalition of the Chillin' Supreme Court Division" as soon as I finish this post and I recommend fellow RIGHT WINNERS do the same. That link to Ruffini also has an excellent roundup of stuff you probably didn't know about Meirs after reading the right whiners.

Let's Get back to being RIGHT WINNERS!

Taking Out the Big Stick. Target: Whiney Conservatives!

Minutes after I posted a Monday, October 3rd, 7:05 AM comment at Confirm Them regarding the announcement of President Bush's nomination of Harriet Meirs' to replace Sandra Day O'Connor, the site sank into near anarchy.

After reading comments regarding the Meirs' nomination, I thought I had made a mistake and connected to Democrats Underground!

Yes, most conservatives were itching for a real fight between the Socialist/Liberal Democrat axis in Congress and the American majority that supported President Bush and Congressional candidates in the last two elections.

That final battle for the hearts and minds of the American people may be a fight we can win, but at what cost?

I don't need to remind readers that the country remains polarized between defeatist/socialist Democrats and Republican conservatives working to move America forward and succeed in the war to make America safer and more free.

The reality is that until we elect more candidates to office at the federal level who adhere to conservative principles, we cannot hope to restrain, let alone reverse, the slow slide toward socialist decrepitude that many of us feel is the direction in which we are heading.

Congressman John Ashbrook (center top) stands with Ohio Wesleyan University College Republicans at the O'Neil Hotel, in Columbus, Ohio, the night of President Reagan's VICTORY in 1980. Mike is pictured far right, as you might have guessed.

Years ago, I worked for Congressman John Ashbrook(R-OH) as he sought to depose arch-liberal Howard Metzenbaum who sat as a U.S. Senator for Ohio. Ashbrook was an early founder of the conservative movement and worked closely with Goldwater, Buckley and Reagan. During one of my many trips to visit potential supporters I encountered a group of young conservatives.

After introducing the views of my candidate (unassailably conservative) one of these "my way" conservative cookies turned to the another and said "He's not one of us."

Whether that slight was directed at me, or the candidate, is unclear. But speaking for me, I stood on platform at the Republican National Convention at Detroit in 1980 while Barry Goldwater delivered his address supporting Ronald Reagan's nomination to be our candidate for President of the United States.

I had the privilege to serve President Reagan in the White House Political Office.

And frankly, I have about as much patience with conservatives who whine that they don't get 100% of what they want, as I do for socialists whose hate for President Bush blinds them in the same way that it did towards President Reagan as he achieved VICTORY in the Cold War.

Would I prefer President Bush select a qualified, and certifiable conservative nominee like Janice Rogers Brown, recently confirmed Justice to the DC Appeals Court? Of course I would. Just read her speech to the Federalist Society.

A message for my conservative friends:

President Bush, like Reagan before him wasn't perfect.

Would you prefer to read the following headline:

"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi......"
or

"Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid...."

How about this one:

"Today, President Hillary Clinton....."
Keep tossing chum to the Democrat sharks circling the political waters and you may look forward to that sad reality.

I have no problem telling our lefty friends to "GROW UP." and I have no problem taking out that same rhetorical stick to whack recalcitrant conservatives.
Stay the Course my Friends! Stay the Course!

USS Cole: Visible Symbol of American Resilience

Photography by Mike's America.

This past weekend, the USS Cole visited nearby Savannah, Georgia.

Readers may recall that the Cole was attacked by Al Queda terrorists in Yemen, killing seventeen sailors and injuring more than thirty. The attack occured in October 2000, in a chain of ever more deadly attacks which led to September 11th.

The attack occured while Bill Clinton, the great peacemaker between Israel and Palestine, was still in office and well before George Bush liberated Iraq. Muther Sheehan might prefer you not focus on that historical context.

The Savannah paper displayed a rather unfortunate photograph, showing a salute to the USS Cole from a Confederate cannon as it passed Old Fort Jackson. The image, while appealing on a visual level, superimposes the blast from the cannon too close for my taste to the area of the Cole damaged by that terrorist attack. More photos on the Cole recovery here.

Since Al Queda failed to sink the Cole and kill many more Americans, it remains a target. Considering that reality, the ship was docked in Savannah more than five hundred feet from any public access and patroled on the water by boats. I would have put it front and center on famous River Street and conducted tours.

But this is the world we live in.

I was able to greet a few of the Cole's crew and extend the thanks of Mike's America readers grateful for the service and sacrifice that these sailors embody. No doubt they enjoyed the hospitality of Savannah.

Sailor Perez, pictured above, is from the Engineering Department of the Cole. If you look at the photos of Cole damage following the attack, you understand that his department took the biggest hit from the terrorist attack.

God bless the USS Cole and all you sail on her. Mike's America supports you, and your mission. We here are committed to making sure you have the tools and political support to do your job to make this nation safer and more free!

Long may she sail!

Harriet Miers Picked for Supreme Court!

Batter Up!

This morning, President Bush nominated Harriet Miers, age 59, the current White House Counsel for the remaining Supreme Court vacancy left by Sandar Day O'Connor.

Ms. Miers has long and close ties to President Bush, both in Texas and the White House. The Washington Post had a background article on her last June:

Miers's reticence is not to be mistaken for a lack of assertiveness or ambition. Rather, friends and associates say, it reflects her scrupulous discretion and selflessness -- the same qualities that propelled her rise through the legal ranks and into President Bush's inner circle.
...
Miers's low-key but high-precision style is particularly valued in a White House where discipline in publicly articulating policy and loyalty to the president are highly valued. Formerly Bush's personal lawyer in Texas, Miers came with him to the White House in 2001 as staff secretary, the person who screens all the documents that cross the president's desk. She was promoted to deputy chief of staff before Bush named her counsel after his reelection in November. She replaced Alberto R. Gonzales, another longtime Bush confidant, who was elevated to attorney general.
...

When he was governor of Texas, Bush offered a less formal assessment at an awards ceremony, calling Miers "a pit bull in size 6 shoes."

The line stuck, in no small part because it described her cool but dogged determination.
...
Miers met Bush in the 1980s, and was drafted to work as counsel for his 1994 gubernatorial campaign. In 1995, he appointed her to the Texas Lottery Commission. After working as a lawyer in Bush's presidential campaign, she came to Washington with him in 2001.
...
Born and raised in Dallas, Miers, 59, is a graduate of Southern Methodist University, where she majored in mathematics. She went on to law school at SMU, earning her law degree in 1970 and going on to clerk for a federal judge in Dallas. In an era when there were few female lawyers, Miers set out for the top.
As White House Counsel to the President, Meirs was the key administration offical charged with vetting possible Supreme Court nominees. Is this nomination an echo back to when Dick Cheney, tasked for vetting possible Bush running mates, got the nod? Long ago, President Bush also had this to say about Miers: "When it comes to a cross-examination," Mr. Bush said, "she can fillet better than Mrs. Paul" ? a reference to the purveyor of frozen fish.

How will this sit with conservatives? With Dems?

Already ,we can hear Ann Coulter scream: OH NO! NOT AGAIN! Talk about lack of a paper trail! Meirs' views are known only to the President, and some on the right are a tad concerned with the lack of solid and demonstrable conservative credentials exhibited by Chief Justice Roberts. The same will be said of Meirs. The folks at Confirm Them are already burning their Republican Party membership cards.

However, her work in the Counsel's Office brought her into close contact with members of the United States Senate, particularly the Judiciary Committee which will oversee her nomination. In the hours and days ahead, we'll see how Democrats with personal experience with Meirs reflect on that relationship. CNN is apparently reporting (sorry, I refuse to watch it... go look for yourself) that Meirs is on a list of candidates that would NOT be filibustered.

Will this pick be the "balance" that Dems demanded? Or will that "balance" push conservatives off the deep end? Stay tuned!

Long Live the Theocracy!

Want to raise the blood pressure of your lefty friends(?). Just show them the above photo of President Bush, Cardinal McCarrick and newly sworn-in Chief Justice of the Supreme Court John Roberts from the 52nd annual "Red Mass" (sorry commies... not what you are thinking).

If that doesn't pop a blood vessel in the "tolerance and diversity" crowd, show them this photo of Executive Branch biggees like Attorney General Gonzales and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice who also attended the mass along with Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

Bad enough that our government embraces CHRISTIANS, who deserve no better than to be lion food at the Coliseum... But Bush and company embrace CATHOLICS!!! The only thing worse is if they showed up at a Synagogue of the Zionist aggressor!

Long Live the Theocracy!

Click on the chart above and read about Reid's CLAN OF CORRUPTION.... then tell me what makes Tom Delay such a criminal.

A "Culture of Corruption?" YES THERE IS!!!

Like the gaggle of demented parrots squawking "Halliburton, Halliburton" at every available opportunity, today's Democrat leaders, on script, all used the phrase "culture of corruption" in the wake of the flimsy, obviously partisan political indictment launched against Congressman Tom Delay.

Well, these Democrats sure do know a thing or two about corruption don't they? Do we really need to relive the sorry 90's where countless Democrats in the Clinton Administration, including the Big Mac himself, were indicted or convicted?

Remember, Bill Clinton insisted his administration would be "the most ethical administration in history." Didn't quite turn out that way did it? Need a refresher course in how ethical those folks were and are? Here's another link which catalogs what REAL corruption, incompetance and ethics lapses look like.

Need more? Trucker Philosophy brings to reader's attention the Progressive Review post on "The Clinton Legacy." From that report I excerpt the following:

FROM THE WASHINGTON TIMES: In the portions of President Clinton's Jan. 17 deposition that have been made public in the Paula Jones case, his memory failed him 267 times. This is a list of his answers and how many times he gave each one.

Stop Talking About Clinton!

That's what our lefty pals will say. They would like to avoid any rational comparisons to the Tsunami of Democrat corruption.

But lets' indulge them a bit and move on.

In the Tom Delay controversy, readers may recall that earlier in the year, Dems were jumping all over Delay for paying his wife and daughter to run his congressional campaigns. A common practice, which anyone who has ever worked in campaigns will tell you (ahem!).

But allowing family members to accept lobbyist big bucks to persuade Dad or Mom to use their powerful position to advance special interests is quite another matter.

When was the last time you heard about Senate MINORITY Leader Harry Reid being investigated for corruption? I'll pause for a moment while you think about it (playing "Jeopardy" theme now).....

Well, if you missed that catalog of corruption, or as the Dems say "culture of corruption" see This PDF chart from the Los Angeles Times (part of the vast right wing conspiracy?... I think not!):

LA Times: The Reid Connections

Millions of special interest dollars going into the pockets of Senator Harry Reid's sons and not a peep from the "culture of corruption" crowd. What a surprise!

From the April Mike's America: Why We Need to Save Tom Delay. STOP THROWING OUR BEST TO THE WOLVES!

Global Warming: Cavalier X Speaks to G. Gordon Liddy

Mike's America readers have recently become acquainted with the wisdom of Joe Mariani, posting in the comments section as "Cavalier X." We rely on Joe to tackle socialist screeds that seem to seep constantly from the liberal cesspool of deceit and disinformation.

One of the topics Joe addresses is global warming, which regarded here as "political" science and described in a M.A. post "Global Warming on MARS!"

Joe's take on the subject, entitled "Goodbye to Anthropogenic Global Warming posted at his blog "Guardian Watchblog" attracted the attention of radio talk show host G. Gordon Liddy.

Joe recounts the experience here and includes the audio here.

My favorite quote from the interview is where he describes the environmental/socialist movement as: "Old hippies reliving their youth and the kids that don't know any better."

I couldn't have said it better Cavalier!

A full bow and wave!

Good work!

One Down, One to Go!

Rack Up Another Win for the Team!

Pol Pot's Victims Would Have Prefered Guantanamo Torture Menu

From Reuters:

- A new Cambodian cafe is offering diners a slice of life under the Khmer Rouge, and waitresses dressed in the black fatigues worn by Pol Pot's ultra-Maoist guerrillas. Faithful to the Khmer Rouge era, when many victims starved to death after a disastrous attempt to transform the country into a peasant utopia.

But the set "theme menu" of salted rice-water, followed by corn mixed with water and leaves, and dove eggs and tea at $6 a time is proving too much to swallow for many visitors.

Speakers blare out tunes celebrating the 1975 toppling of U.S.-backed president General Lon Nol and the walls are adorned with the baskets, hoes and spades Pol Pot hoped would power his jungle-clad south-east Asian homeland to communist prosperity.

Recognising that many tourists might not be able to stomach such a close brush with the Killing Fields, the "Khmer Rouge Experience Cafe" is also promoting itself to those wishing to shed a few pounds.

"It's good for me to slim down," said Tan, a 40-year-old Malaysian visitor.

For some who survived Pol Pot's rule, the cafe served up too many chilling reminders of one of 20th century history's darkest chapters.

"My mother visited me here once, saw the Khmer Rouge style and has never come back again," Hakpry Agnchealy said.

The cafe will no doubt become a "must visit" for our commie friends seeking to relive the glory days once again.

And it is a sure contrast with the meals Americans serve to the "freedom fighters" held at the "Gulag" at Guantamo:

Choice of honey-baked, lemon-baked fish or orange glazed chicken, as an entree along with fresh fruit grupe, steamed peas and mushrooms, rice pilaf.

Where Do Commies Come Up With Their Comments?

Ever since the communists marched in Washington, D.C. last weekend, we've had an influx of stalinists at Mike's America who still don't realize the Berlin Wall fell in 1989 and communism and it's kissing cousin socialism were repudiated by millions. Have you ever wondered where they come up with their commie clap trap? Now we have the answer, The People's Progressive Truth Generator.

Similar to the Autorantic Virtual Moonbat, you can find at Moonbat Monitor and elsewhere, the Progressive Truth Generator has more appeal to the apparatchik class of useful idiots and commie stooges.

Punch in Mike's America and you're likely to get this reply:

"Mike's America, you are an exploiting warmonger because you dare to question "the truth" as promulgated by your radical college professors! "

or

"Mikes America, you are a flag-waving hillbilly because you think the UN is corrupt!"

AMAZING! Nearly identical to some of the garbage that's been spewed by socialist oppressors of the proletariat right here on these very pages.
