Liberal Apartheid Shuns Black Tea Partiers Into Silence

The real racism is being directed at black conservatives!

When Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN)went on radio recently calling the Tea Partiers a "clone of George Wallace" comparing them to the Ku Klux Klan without the "robes and hoods" he was actually describing the Democrat practice of intimidating, even lynching black conservatives who dare to speak out against Obama.

I suppose we should be thankful that Democrats aren't donning white sheets and hoods and burning crosses in the lawns of black conservative as they did in the old days when they targeted blacks and Republicans in the South. But now they have their union goons in purple SEIU shirts beating a black conservative outside a town hall and actually using the "n" word. And for that event we actually have video proof!

And just as liberals feign outrage over phony charges that Tea Partiers shouted the "n" word at black Congressman before the vote on health care, these same people were silent when Condoleezza Rice, Clarence Thomas, Colin Powell, Judge Janice Rogers Brown, Michael Steele and any number of black Republicans and conservatives have been called every racial epithet in the book and more.

So, when the lovers of tolerance and diversity started calling the Tea Partiers a whites only bunch of racists it was just par for the course.

The Gallup poll and a number of other polling organizations debunked the whites only myth and showed that the Tea Parties represent a true cross section of American life with young and old, white, black, Hispanic, male and female members.

Even news network CNN couldn't find any sign of racism when they embedded a news crew in the Tea Party Express tour. Instead they found this:

It is important to show the colorful anger Americans might have against elected leaders and Washington. But people should also see the orange-vested Tea Party hospitality handlers who welcome you with colorful smiles.

There were a few signs that could be seen as offensive to African-Americans. But by and large, no one I spoke with or I heard from on stage said anything that was approaching racist.

Almost everyone I met was welcoming to this African-American television news producer.

And though speakers railed against the "lame-stream media," activists and their leaders praised CNN, especially for being the only national media outlet riding along for the post-weekend stops. Some of them e-mailed me after my trip, thanking our crew for fairly giving them a voice.

Speaking of stereotypes, I did get a few curious stares as I pulled up to the rallies. But not because of my skin color. It was because of my car rental: a Volvo.

Funny how the angry images of Tea Partiers make headlines while angry liberals protesting across from the White House on March 20 and burning an American flag didn't make the news.

Shunned into Silence

The sad story here is how many black conservatives stay silent rather than speak up and face the ideological apartheid that liberals use to punish those in their community who dare to disagree:

Now black conservatives are really taking heat for their involvement in the mostly white tea party movement — and for having the audacity to oppose the policies of the nation's first black president.

"I've been told I hate myself. I've been called an Uncle Tom. I've been told I'm a spook at the door," said Timothy F. Johnson, chairman of the Frederick Douglass Foundation, a group of black conservatives who support free market principles and limited government.

"Black Republicans find themselves always having to prove who they are. Because the assumption is the Republican Party is for whites and the Democratic Party is for blacks," he said.

Johnson and other black conservatives say they were drawn to the tea party movement because of what they consider its commonsense fiscal values of controlled spending, less taxes and smaller government. The fact that they're black — or that most tea partyers are white — should have nothing to do with it, they say.

"You have to be honest and true to yourself. What am I supposed to do, vote Democratic just to be popular? Just to fit in?" asked Clifton Bazar, a 45-year-old New Jersey freelance photographer and conservative blogger.

But these black conservatives don't consider racism representative of the movement as a whole — or race a reason to support it.

Angela McGlowan, a black congressional candidate from Mississippi, said her tea party involvement is "not about a black or white issue."

"It's not even about Republican or Democrat, from my standpoint," she told The Associated Press. "All of us are taxed too much."

Black conservatives don't want to have to apologize for their divergent views.

"I've gotten the statement, 'How can you not support the brother?'" said David Webb, an organizer of New York City's Tea Party 365, Inc. movement and a conservative radio personality.

Since Obama's election, Webb said some black conservatives have even resorted to hiding their political views.

"I know of people who would play the (liberal) role publicly, but have their private opinions," he said. "They don't agree with the policy but they have to work, live and exist in the community ... Why can't we speak openly and honestly if we disagree?"

The article above repeated the lies about the tea party as if they were fact. But that's nothing new. The left has repeated the big lie over and over and over now for months. Truth for them is whatever they say it is at the time.

The Democrat party hasn't come far from the days of the Klan when it was the "terrorist organization in service of the Democratic Party." They may not wear sheets and hoods, but the result is the same!

2015 Off Year Election Proves Tea Party, Anti-Establisment Wave is Still Rolling

Apparently the voters haven't read all those stories saying the Tea Party was dead!

Ever since the first GOP wave in 2010 anxious mainstream reporters and talking heads have been predicting the demise of the Tea Party. The same wave struck again in 2014. And that wave would have swamped Obama in 2012 if Romney had had a better campaign plan. That didn't stop the pundits this year repeating the same mantra that the Tea Party was over.

Then, the off year 2015 election turned that all on it's head. Here's the headline from the Washington Post: "From coast to coast, conservatives score huge victories in off-year elections." The biggest surprise was a huge come from behind win for Matt Bevin, a Tea Party novice who bumped off the Democrat Attorney General to become one of the few Republican governors elected in the state of Kentucky over the last 40 years.

I can hear our liberal friends saying Bevin's win was no big deal. After all, it's a state where Obama is deeply unpopular. Mitt Romney won the state in 2012 by nearly 23 points. So, it's just a bunch of Tea Party racists right? Meet Jenean Hampton, the Lt. Governor-elect of Kentucky. Like Bevin, Hampton is a newcomer to politics, a Tea Party activist and now the first black elected statewide in Kentucky.

Take that racebaiters!

The monster wave of 2014 which swept Democrats from power at the state level has not abated. Those gains are still solid and growing as in the case of Kentucky.

As the article in the Washington Post concludes: "Obama is toxic." Tying him to Democrats running in the 2016 election will be just as sure to generate similar results. If the GOP wants to win, they need a more effective ground game and a message that dares to embrace their conservative roots!

Recent Tea Party Victories Show GOP the Party That Advances Minority Elected Officials

Tea Party darling Hispanic Ted Cruz victory in Texas over white David Dewhurst is latest in string of wins for non-whites in GOP!

You know the attack line by now: the GOP is a bunch of racists. What those who push this lie mean is that anyone who criticizes Obama is a racist. Even if your black.

The popularity of Herman Cain among Tea Party Republicans was one sign that the Democrats racist attack was false. But even more to the point, the number of recently elected non-white Republicans underscores the point.

Ted Cruz and the GOP’s changing face

Ted Cruz’s come-from-behind victory in the Texas GOP Senate runoff on Tuesday — and the near-certainty that he will cruise to a general election win in November — ensures he will immediately join a rapidly growing group of rising national Republican stars that have one big thing in common: None of them are white.

Cruz, a Cuban-American, joins Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, Govs. Bobby Jindal (La.), Susana Martinez (N.M.), Nikki Haley (S.C.) and Brian Sandoval (Nev.), as well as South Carolina Rep. Tim Scott as non-white Republicans — Cruz, Rubio, Sandoval and Martinez are Hispanic, Jindal and Haley are Indian-American, and Scott is black — that are nearly certain to run for national office, serve on a national ticket or be mentioned for a national ticket at some point in the not-too-distant future. And, with the exception of Jindal, all of them have been elected since 2010.

So, the party that is supposed to be a bunch of racists has elected one of the brightest slates of new elected officials who also happen to be non-white! They are also mostly conservative Tea Party favorites.

Cruz Cruised to Victory Despite Opponent Spending Advantage

David Dewhurst, the establishment, white GOP candidate, outspent Cruz by nearly 3 to 1 yet Cruz came from being 11 points behind in the initial primary to winning by 13 points in the runoff. That huge swing is an astounding testament to the power of the Tea Party to turn out the votes.

Cruz's victory is another harbinger for the 2012 presidential campaign. It shows that the Tea Party can turn out the vote that will be key to winning in 2012. Stories written by left wing journalists declaring the Tea Party dead was just wishful thinking!

Did Obama Use IRS Union to Target Tea Party?

New disclosure shows cozy relationship between Obama and IRS union!

The White House has been very clear that they exercised no improper, political influence over the IRS. Directly that is. Someone needs to ask Obama whether he did an end run around that standard of conduct by working with the IRS union to accomplish targeting of Tea Party groups?

Writing at the American Spectator Jeffrey Lord documents close ties between Obama and the IRS union head. White House visits went hand in hand with an Executive Order which granted "employees and unions to have pre-decisional involvement in all workplace matters."

Shortly after that Executive Order was signed in December 2010 the IRS began targeting conservative groups. Lord writes:

The very next day after her White House meeting with the President, according to the Treasury Department’s Inspector General’s Report, IRS employees — the same employees who belong to the NTEU — set to work in earnest targeting the Tea Party and conservative groups around America. The IG report wrote it up this way:

April 1-2, 2010: The new Acting Manager, Technical Unit, suggested the need for a Sensitive Case Report on the Tea Party cases. The Determinations Unit Program Manager Agreed.

In short: the very day after the president of the quite publicly anti-Tea Party labor union — the union for IRS employees — met with President Obama, the manager of the IRS “Determinations Unit Program agreed” to open a “Sensitive Case report on the Tea party cases.” As stated by the IG report.

The order for that change in procedure had to come from some where. This wasn't just a few rogue employees. Did the IRS union use it's new power under Obama's Executive Order, perhaps even at Obama's direction, to change IRS work procedures?

Lord goes on to point out Obama's curious answer at a press conference last week where he dodged a direct question: "Can you assure the American people that nobody in the White House knew about the agency’s actions before your Counsel’s Office found out on April 22nd?" Obama's answer: " I can assure you that I certainly did not know anything about the IG report before the IG report had been leaked through the press." Notice the disconnect?

What was the White House involvement with the IRS union? Did anyone at the White House know of the IRS targeting of the Tea Party prior to the Inspector General's report? Did Obama or White House staff direct the IRS union to effect changes in workplace procedure?

If Obama is unwilling to give direct answers to these questions then we must demand a Special Prosecutor to get the answers the hard way. If Obama used the IRS, however indirectly, it may well be a very serious matter indeed!

Former VP Dick Cheney: Obama is the "Extremist" Not the Tea Party

Cheney: Tea Party necessary to shake things up!

If you know former Vice President Dick Cheney's history (I highly recommend his autobiography) you'll know that while he's always been a conservative he wasn't one of the bomb throwers on the right. As White House Chief of Staff to Gerald Ford he defended Ford against the conservative challenge from Ronald Reagan in 1976. Later, as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives elected from Wyoming in 1978, he steered a more centrist path through the GOP caucus eventually rising to a leadership position under the go along to get along House Minority Leader Rep. Bob Michel (R-IL).

Taking that into consideration, his comments here about the Tea Party are especially instructive:

FMR VICE PRES. DICK CHENEY: I'm not unsympathetic to the frustration, I think, that's led many Americans to sign on for or become part of the tea party. I'm as frustrated as anybody else can be, but I think we have a situation where the circumstances in Washington, the inability and the unwillingness of the this administration to come to grips with our basic long-term debt problem, for example. The frustration out there is very, very high. And so when I see people talking about the tea party, I don't think of the tea party as extremists the way some of the folks in Washington want to describe them. The extremist in Washington is Barack Obama. He's the guy that wants to fundamentally transform our health care system. He's the guy who has done enormous damage to America's standing in the world. To the extent there is an extremist or radical political view in Washington these days, I believe it is the president of the United States.

Cheney went on to say that it's perfectly natural for new Tea Party leaders like Ted Cruz to break some of the "crockery" and that might upset some in the old guard. It's also essential, according to Cheney, that new leaders come forward with bold ideas. He cited his daughter Liz's campaign for U.S. Senate in Wyoming as an example.

Cheney's appearance on Monday night was a reminder of what it was like when the adults were still in charge in Washington. Unlike the current Vice President, Cheney never embarrassed us every time he opened his mouth!

Repudiation of Obama: GOP Wins Two Special Elections for House Seats

And the STUNNING upset in New York City recalls Scott Brown's win in Massachusetts!

Remember the famous words of Abraham Lincoln: "You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time." Well, apparently fewer and fewer people are being fooled by Barack Hussein Obama!

Results in Tuesday's special election for House seats in New York and Nevada show that the political tide which repudiated Obama in the November 2011 midterm election has not abated. If anything, it is getting stronger.

The most upsetting of these twin disappointments for Democrats is the loss of the seat in New York which has been in Democrat hands for nearly one hundred years and was the political base of Congresswoman Geraldine Ferraro, Senator Chuck Schumer and the disgraced Rep. Anthony Weiner.

But the vote in NY-9 was more than registering disgust with Weiner's bizarre behavior. Obama carried the district by 11 points. Now, Obama's popularity in the district which has a three to one advantage in registered Democrats is in the dumps. Much of that is due to the Jewish vote, but also there was a new enthusiasm in the district where voters who previously had not worked in campaigns were excited by the opportunity to get involved and send a message to Obama. Boy did they!

A Tea Party Triumph!

Democrat candidate David Weprin tried to make the Tea Party the boogie man in the race. He repeatedly tried to smear the Tea Party and his opponent  Bob Turner with the vile rhetoric that has become commonplace in leading Democrat circles. At one point Weprin said "My opponent is identified with the Tea Party element of the Republican Party, that clearly has held our country hostage." This effort reached absurd lows in this press release from the Weprin campaign blaming the Tea Party and GOP candidate Turner for the debt downgrade.

If tactics to scare voters with the Tea Party bogeyman didn't work in New York City, they won't work in Ohio, Virginia or other swing states in 2012.

And 2012 IS what this election was all about. "I am the messenger," Turner said as he claimed his victory. "This message . . . will reverberate into 2012."

Amen to that!

ABC News Apologizes After Rushing to Suggest that Colorado Killer May be Tea Party Member

Media bias anyone? The instant presumption that someone on the right must be responsible!

Two things struck me upon learning of the massacre in Aurora Colorado Friday. First, revulsion and horror at the crime and second, how long will it be before someone suggests a right wing political motive for the shooter?

It didn't take long. As expected, the bottom feeders on the Internet got into the action trying to blame Rush Limbaugh (what bad things don't they blame on Rush?) Rush had earlier expressed concern that the Batman movie at which the shooting took place would be a vehicle for attacking Mitt Romney because the villain in the film is named "Bane" similar to Bain Capital, Romney's investment firm.

Internet hate speech is one thing. Journalist in the so-called "mainstream" media putting out a false story suggesting a possible connection between the shooter and the Tea Party is something entirely different. On ABC's Good Morning America Investigative Reporter (he gets paid for this) found that a man named Jim Holmes was connected with a Colorado Tea Party and speculated it might be the shooter. But the Jim Holmes in the Colorado Tea Party is 52 years old and formerly worked in law enforcement.

Journalists love to stick their nose up in the air and tell us why the quality of their news gathering is superior to that of the citizen journalists found on the Internet. But as we see once again, when the information matches their prejudices and assumptions, journalist standards for veracity go out the window. ABC as since apologized but the seeds of the "Tea Party to blame" theme have been planted nonetheless.

What do you bet that if we find the shooter is a member of some left wing group supporting Obama the same media that rushed to put out a false connection with the Tea Party will bury the story and sell the story that the shooting was act of some deranged lunatic (which was the case in the Arizona shooting of Gabrielle Giffords).

Meanwhile, President Obama canceled a campaign event in Florida today saying "There are going to be other days for politics." Yet supporters chanted "four more years" anyway. Expect the Mourner in Chief to milk this for all it's worth. As his former Chief of Staff said "never let a crisis go to waste!"

Don't Get Too Giddy About 2014 Election. Turnout and Early Voting Mechanics Still Rule. Has GOP Learned the Lesson?

Despite the wave of anti-Obama voters, Dems still outperform GOP in critical vote getting tactics!

I was as excited as the next Republican at David Jolly's big win in Florida's special congressional election last week. I said then, and maintain now, that it is a sign of good things to come for the GOP in November's midterm election. It's quite possible that we are building to another "wave" election equal to the one in 2010. Certainly Democrats are in an absolute panic over the prospect.

But panic or no panic Dems still hold a tactical advantage that could blunt the wave this November, just as they blunted it in 2010. Had the GOP done a better job of candidate selection and adapting to Dem tactics we might have taken control of the Senate two years ago. I believe we will take control of the Senate this time around but I also believe we need to take as many seats as possible so we have the strongest team to counter Obama in his last years in office.

There are two key factors in maximizing our advantage in 2014. Both are being addressed to varying degrees overall and in the key states where gains are most likely to be found. But, and it's a BIG BUT, I don't believe the GOP has gone far enough and unfortunately we still find ourselves handicapped by Democrat generated media narratives which tell the GOP the only way to win is to pander to minorities and avoid nominating true conservatives.

Tea Party vs. Establishment GOP: Finding the Balance

In 2010 the Tea Party helped to nominate conservatives like Christine O'Donnell in Delaware. She had no chance to win in Delaware and instead a Democrat who was far more liberal than Mike Castle, O'Donnell's establishment GOP challenger, won the seat. If Castle had been nominated instead the GOP would have won the seat and we would be one more vote closer to unseating Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. The lesson for the Tea Party in 2014 has to be that we return to the "Buckley Rule" and nominate the most conservative candidate who can win in a particular state or district. In 2012 both Todd Akin in Missouri and Richard Mourdock in Indiana lost Senate races that would otherwise have gone GOP had the nominee been less flawed and more moderate in their conservative views.

The Establishment GOP doesn't always pick the winner either. Do you remember when the National Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee (NRSC) backed Charlie Crist in Florida over Marco Rubio, the Tea Party favorite? Crist was a poor candidate who later changed parties and is now running for governor of Florida again as a Democrat. Let's not forget that the NRSC threw away $8 million in California in a vain attempt to support Carly Fiorina's attempt to unseat Sen. Barbara Boxer. Establishment GOP committees have every right to promote candidates they think will do best, but they should avoid picking fights with qualified Tea Party candidates and need to be better at sharing resources with ALL candidates.

Mechanics of Turnout Key to Winning Close Races

There were a handful of races in 2010 that the GOP could have won even with imperfect Tea Party candidates (is there ever a perfect candidate?). Most especially in Nevada where Sharon Angle and Colorado where Ken Buck had narrow leads in most polls before election day. Democrats used a well developed network of progressive and union activists to overcome that advantage and win (1,2). Obama, who was in big trouble in 2011, developed the same ground game in 2012 spending a great deal more than Romney did in field operations in the key states he needed to win.

Banking early votes and absentee ballots are critical to Dem's success.  In the Florida special election Democrat Alex Sink beat Jolly in absentee votes. What handed Jolly the win was the turnout on election day. That was the wave effect and it worked in this case. However, Democrats will double down on their early voting efforts and in races where the GOP wave is not so pronounced, they may prevail.

With the Florida win Republican operatives are bragging about the GOP's new high tech turnout tools. I hope they are right. Since 2006 the GOP has been at a technological disadvantage and been forced to rely on the hope and prayer that the base will come out on election day. Sometimes the base does. Sometimes it doesn't. Adapting to the new reality of banking early and absentee votes improves GOP chances. A cautionary note. As the GOP plays catchup, the Dems are working on even better turnout tools.

Maximizing the effects of any 2014 GOP wave will require new techniques to capture the GOP vote which may not make it to the polls on election day. I hope the GOP has finally learned it's lesson and is working overtime to implement more effective ground game strategies!

Opportunity for Tradeoff in Debt Ceiling Increase Squandered by Tea Party Inflexibility on Vote

If you follow an all or nothing strategy you usually end up with nothing!

I was very disappointed that both Speaker Boehner (R-OH) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell(R-KY) both caved on efforts to exact a compromise from Obama for a debt ceiling increase. I had hoped that attaching approval of the Keystone pipeline would force Obama to accept this worthy and environmentally safe project and help create tens of thousands of new good paying jobs for Americans.

But Tea Party Republicans in the House refused to vote for ANY increase in the debt ceiling. Had Speaker Boehner brought up a debt ceiling increase that included Keystone House Democrats and Tea Party Republicans would have voted it down thus weakening political support for the pipeline. Without majority GOP support for any alternative to a clean bill (debt increase only) Boehner was left with no option than to allow a clean bill to come to a vote where it got majority Dem support and only a handful of GOP votes.

It's doubly disappointing because the debt ceiling increase was supposed to be the fight worth fighting. Only a few months ago when Ted Cruz waged his battle against ObamaCare GOP leaders were instructing members to keep their powder dry and save it for a fight over the debt increase. But without flexibility on the part of GOP members, and lacking the unity necessary for an alternative there was no choice. It is unthinkable that the Speaker would have simply refused any vote on a debt increase. Such a path is not one that is winnable in any sense of the word.

The same goes for Sen. Mitch McConnell who put his own political future on the line and cast the magic vote in the Senate for approval. Quin Hilyer writing at National Review concludes:

To conservatives, McConnell’s vote felt like another in a series of punches to the kidney. But it wasn’t a cowardly vote; it was a courageous one. Sometimes courage can be misguided or even foolhardy, but that doesn’t make it any less courageous. Conservatives might think he is the wrong leader for Senate Republicans. We must, however, acknowledge that he did show leadership, and in doing so, afford him at least a grumbling form of respect.

Another government shutdown, with the GOP forced to give in after being pummeled for days would risk efforts to retake the Senate in November.

I'm reminded of Tea Party candidates who represented something of a conservative ideal but whose other qualities meant that they could not win a general election. Christine O'Donnell in Delaware leaps to mind. Instead of the almost sure election of RINO Republican Mike Castle, the primary victory of O'Donnell paved the way for the very liberal Democrat Chris Coons who is now enshrined in that seat. Had the Tea Party been willing to compromise and accept Castle we would be one seat closer to taking control of the Senate where we would have more flexibility to counter Obama.

Had the House Tea Party Republicans been more flexible with the debt ceiling we might have had the leverage to win approval for Keystone. In the end, the debt ceiling was increased anyway and we have nothing to show for it!

Until the happy day arrives when we have a conservative governing majority in both houses of Congress we have to keep our tactics and strategy flexible to make the most of the limited power we do have. That's not something some on the right want to hear but it's better to get something rather than nothing!

UPDATE: Writing at National Review Charles C.W. Cooke goes into the problem of GOP opposition in detail. His conclusion is that we would lose both a fight over the debt ceiling and the Senate if we persisted. It's a bitter pill to swallow but true. Cooke reminds us how difficult it is to " play offense from a position of weakness. " Gaining the Senate is the best way to strengthen our hand and anything that puts that at risk is not worth it.

Occupy Wall Street Protest Ain't No Tea Party

Hundreds of arrests, poor sanitation and foul mouths distinguish Wall Street protests from Tea Party!

Who can forget two years ago in September when then House Speaker Nancy Pelosi squeezed out a few tears [video] worrying about the possibility that Tea Party protests might turn violent:

"I have concerns about some of the language that is being used because i saw this myself in the late 70s in San Francisco, this king of rhetoric. ... It created a climate in which violence took place.

Pelosi and other top Democrats called Tea Partiers "unAmerican" and accused them of carrying Swastikas and much worse. Now, House MINORITY Leader Pelsoi is egging on the Occupy Wall Street Protesters. Instead of a violent threat to Democracy Pelosi praises the protesters. "God bless them" Pelosi said in a press conference last Thursday. And in an interview on ABC's "This Week" Pelosi who said we should never question the patriotism of our opponents validated the anger of protesters and embraced their role in the democratic process.

800+ protesters have been arrested in the Occupy Wall Street protest. The NY Post reports that to many the protests are another excuse to indulge in "Sex, drugs and hiding from the law:"

The criminals are crashing the party.

Lured by cheap drugs and free food, creepy thugs have infiltrated the crowd of protesters camped out in Zuccotti Park for Occupy Wall Street, The Post has learned.

“I got warrants. I’m running from the law,” boasted Dave, 24, a scrawny, unshaven miscreant in filthy clothes from Stamford, Conn. “I’m not even supposed to be here, but it’s as good a spot as any to hide.”

Wanted for burglary, the drug-addled fugitive said some of his hard-partying pals clued him in that the protest was a good place to be fed, get wasted and crash.

“I’ve been smoking and drinking in here for eight days now,” said Dave, booze on his breath and his eyes bloodshot as he lay sprawled on a tattered sheet of cardboard. “I need to get some methadone. Every day, I wake up, and I’m f--ked up.”

Drugs can be easy to score -- a Post reporter was offered pot for $15 and heroin for $10.

They’ve already fueled at least one violent incident, when a wasted nut job socked a medical volunteer in the face before others hauled the attacker away.

You recall reading anything about mass arrests, drug use or criminal activity at a Tea Party protest?

And while Tea Party protests were noted for the lack of litter and the relative civility of their participants, the protest at Wall Street and other cities is fast becoming a joke with poor sanitation, the smell, the garbage and the foul language. Tea Parties Rocking the GOP Establisment Boat

Rick Scott win in Florida and possible upset in Alaska Senate race teach the K Street GOP a lesson!

The conventional wisdom was that Tea Party favorites in Florida and Alaska would lose to establishment backed Republicans in Tuesday's primary battles. Rick Scott in Florida was predicted in some polls to be behind long time GOP congressman and current Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum. The Party establishment rallied to McCollum's side. Scott edged out McCollum by three points: 46% to 43%.

In Alaska, both Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee joined the Tea Partiers and endorsed the outsider bid of Joe Miller to unseat Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski in that state's primary. It was a long shot bid that many analysts thought didn't have a chance of success after earlier polls showed Murkowski with a whopping lead.

The storyline was that should these Tea Party and Palin favorites lose, it might spell the decline of the influence of both on national politics after earlier surprise wins in Kentucky, Colorado and Utah where the Tea Parties ousted long time GOP incumbent Bob Bennett. Obviously, the strength of the Tea Parties and the Palin effect are just as strong as ever.

This is another setback for the GOP establishment which Tim Carney, writing at The Washington Examiner calls "K Street" Republicans. In Washington, K Street is the part of town where big law firms and lobbyists hang their shingle. The clubby atmosphere in which former elected officials of both parties work together better than they ever did in Congress towards the goal of making mounds of cash for themselves has an unwritten rule: don't rock the boat or you might get tossed off the gravy train.

The Tea Parties, and Palin are rocking that boat and defeating many of the K Street candidates who were expected to come into office and not make waves.

Carney's report describes how big money corrupts political ideals and principles and that same big money K Street axis is working to defeat Tea Party candidates who won't play ball. As an illustration of how shocking this lack of principle has become Carney reports that former GOP standard bearer Bob Dole recently gave a $1,000 contribution to Florida Governor Charlie Crist, the GOP turncoat running against Marco Rubio for the U.S. Senate.

But as I reported in yesterday's visit with SC Senator Jim DeMint, candidates like Ron Johnson in Wisconsin, who have a very good chance of defeating liberal Senator Russ Feingold, told GOP Senators he follows the DeMint model. His goal is to come to Washington to fight for conservative principles, not join the club of Washington insiders.

Other Big Story: Huge GOP Turnouts Continue

Earlier this month, I linked to an analysis of primary voting trends in several states by Sean Trende at Real Clear Politics. The turnout for GOP races this year has been at historic highs. That trend is continuing in many of the latest races. In the 2006 Florida GOP primary race for Governor, approx. 974,000 votes were cast. This time around 1.28 million GOP votes were cast in the gubernatorial primary. That demonstrates the enthusiasm that Tea Party candidates bring to the races they enter.

We are warned by the K Street GOP establishment about the risks of putting forward untried and untested candidates. Those risk are real. But what is also undeniable is that the outpouring of new voters for candidates who are willing to fight for principles and not just join the comfortable club of Washington insiders is more than enough to make up for any lack of campaign experience or Washington connections!

Media Covers Up Colorado Shooters Left Wing Affiliation; Ignores Race War of DHS Employee

You can imagine the screaming headlines if any of these were the acts of someone affiliated with the Tea Party!

Seems like whenever there is a mass shooting somewhere the instant assumption among many in the news media is to find a link to conservatives or the Tea Party. Who can forget the media fueled accusation that Sarah Palin was somehow to blame for psycho Jared Loughner's murderous rampage in Arizona even though there was absolutely no connection whatsoever. Then there was the Colorado movie theater shooting where ABC rushed to link the shooter to the Tea Party just because a Tea Party member had the same name. Another example was the hope that the Boston Marathon bomber would turn out to be a white right winger.

If ANY of these shootings were perpetrated by a conservative the media would trumpet it from the rooftops and run endless loops decrying the fact and insisting that all other conservatives denounce not just the shooter but conservative politics as a whole.

Of course when the shooter is actually someone from the left wing of American politics they do their best to hide the fact. Take the case of the shooting on Friday at Arapahoe High School in Colorado. Karl Pierson was a strong advocate for socialism yet the Denver Post scrubbed that fact from their initial report. Initially he was described by a classmate as being a "very opinionated Socialist." But the later report only described Pierson as "very opinionated."

This coverup is nothing new. Remember Christopher Dorner, the left wing Obama loving cop killer in Los Angeles last February? His strong left wing views were largely omitted from media report.

Then there's the case of Ayo Kimathi an employee at the Department of Homeland Security who was finally fired last week after months on unpaid leave after it was learned that he advocated a race war between blacks and whites. “In order for Black people to survive the 21st century, we are going to have to kill a lot of whites – more than our Christian hearts can possibly count,” is one of he milder things he said.

You can be forgiven if you didn't hear about this racist on the nightly news. But imagine the wall to wall coverage if he had been a member of the Tea Party.

There are a multitude of cases of left wing zealots turning to violence but these are mostly ignored. There are almost no REAL cases of similar conduct on the right yet the assumption is that right wingers are terrorists and killers. Oh well, it wouldn't be the first time the media has propagated left wing lies. "Period!"

Establishment Washington insiders are eating crow tonight!

The establishment political class in Washington is in a dither tonight. After weeks of saying the Tea Party is dead, the victory of an unknown, underfunded challenger in Virginia defeating 12 term Majority Leader of the House Eric Cantor is a stunning rebuke. The final result is 55% David Brat, 44% Eric Cantor.

Cantor spent $5 million vs. $200,000 for Brat!

The major issue in the turnaround was immigration. Brat warned Cantor and establishment GOP would endorse amnesty. This should be a clear warning to other Republicans to tackle border security first before talking about other immigration issues.

Libs will now have to revert to their standby mantra that the Tea Party runs the GOP. That's not true either but heck, why start telling the truth now?

South Carolina: Tea Party opposition to Lindsey Graham split six ways. That's no proof of Tea Party weakness but Graham's luck that primary opposition did not coalesce around a single candidate.

Obama and Dems Can't Blame Tea Party for Abysmal GDP Growth!

The systemic weakness crippling the American economy started long before Tea Party candidates won in 2010!

Friday's release of Gross Domestic Product figures (GDP) shows the problem goes well beyond current blame game for debt crisis:

(Reuters 7/ 29/2011) - The economy stumbled badly in the first half of 2011 and came dangerously close to contracting in the January-March period, raising the risk of a recession if a standoff over the nation's debt does not end quickly.

Output increased at a 1.3 percent annual pace in the second quarter as consumer spending barely rose, the Commerce Department said on Friday. In the first three months of the year, the economy advanced just 0.4 percent, a sharp downward revision from the previously reported 1.9 percent gain.

"The economy essentially came to a grinding halt in the first half of this year," said Ryan Sweet, a senior economist at Moody's Analytics in West Chester Pennsylvania.

Yet Democrats seem hell bent on trying to blame Obama's poor economic performance on the Tea Party. Here's what Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) said on July 24th:

"Their unwillingness to compromise is pushing us to the brink of a default on the full faith and credit of the United States," he said.

The consequence of a default would be equal to some sort of economic Armageddon (as if things could get any worse) with the clear implication that Republicans in general and Tea Party folks in particular would be to blame.

Obama and the Democrats had nearly two full years of unstoppable power in both Houses of Congress and the White House. They spent $TRILLIONS which did next to nothing to help the economy and was more about rewarding big labor and liberal causes. Now, they flail around trying to blame their corruption and incompetence on someone else.

There's just one problem: poll after poll after poll shows the American people aren't buying it!

The Tea Party isn't the cause of the problem, they are the SOLUTION!

3 Months After IRS Scandal Broke and We STILL Don't Have Answers

Not only that, but it appears the IRS is STILL holding up approval of Tea Party groups!

I’ve reviewed the Treasury Department watchdog’s report, and the misconduct that it uncovered is inexcusable. It’s inexcusable, and Americans are right to be angry about it, and I am angry about it. I will not tolerate this kind of behavior in any agency, but especially in the IRS, given the power that it has and the reach that it has into all of our lives. --Obama, May 13, 2013

In that same statement Obama promised to 1. "hold the responsible parties accountable," 2. "we’re going to put in place new safeguards to make sure this kind of behavior cannot happen again" and 3. "we will work with Congress as it performs its oversight role. And our administration has to make sure that we are working hand in hand with Congress to get this thing fixed."

As with all Obama's speeches, it sounds good but there's no action behind it.

In the three months since Obama said those words we still don't know who it was at the IRS who gave the orders to persecute Tea Party groups (contrary to liberal propaganda, left leaning groups were NOT singled out. 292 conservative groups were held in limbo. Requests for documents by a congressional committee charged with oversight (see Obama's 3rd point above)have been met by the IRS with submissions of blacked out pages.

And what about the Administration's own investigation? According to Jay Sekulow, the attorney representing many of the Tea Party groups kept in limbo by the IRS, the FBI has still not contacted a single one of these groups. It's like a robbery took place the police can't even be bothered to interview the victim! The Administration is also slow walking court procedures to force action on behalf of Tea Party groups. They are now requesting a two month delay in answering questions related to the case and leave the door open for more delays after that.

Worse still are reports that the IRS is STILL engaged in blocking determinations of Tea Party requests for the tax exempt status they need to operate. (1,2)

Obama calls this a "phony scandal." But what's really phony here is any claim by him to get to the bottom of this mess!

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) Exposes Dem Hypocrisy on Debt Politics

Were Dems who opposed debt ceiling increase during Bush years "terrorists?"

Yesterday, I shared with you Vice President Joe Biden's statement likening Tea Party Republicans in Congress to "terrorists." It was bad enough that Biden would think such a thing let alone say it in the same day he personally welcomed Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, one of the victims of the Tucson shooting, back to Congress.

Florida's freshman Senator Marco Rubio took to the Senate Floor on July 30 to ask why Democrats failed to do anything about the debt problem until the last minute when a crisis atmosphere prevailed. “You would think these issues would have been worked on in January, February, March -- nothing. This chamber has done nothing," Rubio said. Instead, we had another moment of crisis that was matched with Democrats accusing Republicans of being "terrorists" and "extremists" for refusing to agree to another debt ceiling increase without strings attached.

Rubio continued:

“So this has been the plan all along, by the way. The plan all along was not to take a position, to let the days count down until we got to this point with 72 hours to go and then force a vote on something that they wanted. I believe that that has been the plan the entire time. And you can see it carrying itself out.

“You want to know why people all across America get grossed out about politics? It’s by watching this kind of stuff happen.

“And instead let me tell you what we’ve seen for the last few days. First of all, for today and for much of this time I have heard all these attacks and name-calling. If we had $1 billion for every time I heard the words "tea party extremist," we could solve this debt problem.

“So all this name-calling, so I said let me read some quotes about this debt limit and I found some pretty extremist quotes.

“Here's one.

“It says, "The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better. I, therefore, intend to oppose the effort to increase America's debt.” A quote from a tea party extremist, right? No. This is a quote from March 16 of 2006 from Senator Barack Obama of Illinois.

“I found another extremist quote. This one says, "Because this massive of accumulation of debt was predicted, because it was foreseeable, because it was unnecessary, because it was the result of willful and reckless disregard for the warnings that were given and for the fundamentals of economic management, I am voting against a debt limit increase.” Well, that must be from a tea party extremist member of the House, right? No. This is March 16, 2006, from Senator Joe Biden of Delaware.

“And last but not least, here's a quote from September 27 of 2007. It says, "I find it distasteful and disturbing to increase the debt limit yet again. Clearly we need to change course and this debt limit bill is just another reminder of that." And that is from the distinguished Senator from Nevada, the majority leader. On that date in 2007.

“And yet now these same quotes in this context, what we're talking about raising the debt limit more than has ever been raised in one vote, is extremism? This name-calling is absurd and it sets this process back.

“The other thing I hear -- oh, it is not reasonable. This is a waste of time. This bill can't pass the Senate when they talk about the House bill. So now it disqualifies the bill the fact that it can't pass in the Senate.

“Well, guess what? The Senate bill can't pass in the Senate -- the Senate bill can't pass in the Senate.”

And of course we've all heard the line that disgreeing with Obama on the debt, or anything else, is somehow racist. Well, in USA Today, Columnist DeWayne Wickham takes that line to a new low comparing Republicans to slave owners who disrespect Obama as if he was their former property. Obviously, Dems have run out of ideas to defend their indefensible record of performance in office.


I don't expect Democrats to drop their  "racist." "extremist," "terrorist" rhetoric directed at the Tea Party anytime soon. But you watch; the minute any elected Republican tags Democrats with similar labels they will be hung out to dry by the same media that ignores the Democrat's hypocrisy on this and so many other things!

The abuse of power is so widespread it's hard to imagine it happened without people at the top knowing about it!

• USA Today has the analysis of approvals of tax exempt groups. The first Tea Party group was approved in 90 days. After the mysterious change in policy, there wouldn't be another Tea Party group approved for 27 months. Meanwhile, approval for liberal groups sailed through.
• In all, about 471 conservative groups had their tax exempt status delayed and with unlawful scrutiny. Only three examples of similar scrutiny for liberal groups was found.
• In 2011 Conservative watchdog group Media Trackers filed with the IRS to achieve nonprofit status. The application got stuck in Obama-induced IRS limbo. In 2012 the same group changed its name and filed again with the IRS as “Greenhouse Solutions.” They were granted nonprofit status in 3 weeks.
  IRS agents in Cincinnati insist that "they simply did what their bosses ordered."
• IRS employees gave political donations overwhelmingly in favor of Obama. One of those at the heart of the scandal has a husband whose law firm has close ties to the Obama campaign.
• Another IRS employee in the division which oversaw this scandal was awarded a $103,390 bonus. She's now been put in charge of IRS implementation of ObamaCare!
• Karl Rove reminds us that it was Democrats in the U.S. Senate who constantly wrote the IRS demanding an investigation of Tea Party groups. Obviously those demands were not ignored.

Need further proof that the IRS under Obama is out of control? Another of those groups targeted for investigation was none other than Billy Graham, a revered Christian leader. That's right, they even went after Billy Graham!

Graham's son Franklin sent President Obama a letter (PDF). From the report in Politico:

Graham said that “in light” of the IRS admission that it targeted tea party groups for added scrutiny, “I do not believe that the IRS audit of our two organizations last year is a coincidence – or justifiable.”

“While these audits not only wasted taxpayer money, they wasted money contributed by donors for ministry purposes as we had to spend precious resources servicing the IRS agents in our offices,” Graham wrote in the letter, which was shared with POLITICO. “I believe that someone in the administration was targeting and attempting to intimidate us. This is morally wrong and unethical – indeed some would call it ‘un-American.”

Obama Dodges Question on White House Involvement

In the press conference Thursday Obama was asked "Can you assure the American people that nobody in the White House knew about the agency’s actions before your counsel’s office found out on April 22nd?" His answer was very curious. He did not answer the question but instead said "Let me make sure that I answer your specific question. I can assure you that I certainly did not know anything about the IG report before the IG report had been leaked through the press." How was that an answer to a "specific question" whether anyone in the White House knew about the IRS practice before the scandal broke? The reporter didn't even ask about the Inspector General's report that Obama referred to.

More questions will need to be asked, THEN ANSWERED! One political analyst in Washington put it this way:

Trey Hardin: “I will tell you this on the IRS front. I’ve worked in this town for over 20 years in the White House and on Capitol Hill and I can say with a very strong sense of certainty that there are people very close to this president that not only knew what the IRS were doing but authorized it. It simply just does not happen at an agency level like that without political advisers likely in the West Wing certainly connected to the president’s ongoing campaign organization.”

There are some Washington reporters still willing to carry Obama's water. Ezra Klein at the Washington Post has decreed that the scandals are over because Obama has spoken and told us there's nothing wrong. Corruption and stupidity still go hand in hand!

Finally, the evasions on the IRS scandal, like Benghazi, remind me of these words from an Obama radio address in August 2010:

 Obama: "The only people who don't want to disclose the truth are people with something to hide."

UPDATE: IRS Hid Investigation Until After Election!

• NBC's Lisa Myers reported this morning that the IRS  deliberately chose not to reveal that it had wrongly targeted conservative groups until after the 2012 presidential election. Did IRS officials lie to Congress when questions were raised in 2012?
• An Obama tax exempt group was approved in 34 days at the same time conservative groups were put on hold for months, even years.
• Senior Democratic Sen. Max Baucus, who recently slapped Obamacare as a "train wreck," believes that the IRS scandal is just beginning and that "a lot more" damaging information will be revealed, likely at congressional hearings."I have a hunch that a lot more is going to come out, frankly."
• CBS News Bob Schieffer: I mean, just all of a sudden you have this thing with the Justice Department where they’re getting all these phone records of all the reporters. The Attorney General, well he didn’t know anything about it. You get to the IRS, they don’t seem to know anything about the Tea Party thing. You come to White House, they don’t know anything about Benghazi. Somebody’s got to grab hold of this thing. It’s very, very disturbing what we’re seeing here.
• Kimberly Strassel at the Wall Street Journal traces years of Obama attacks on conservatives and concludes: "according to Mr. Obama, he is "outraged" and "angry" that the IRS looked into the very groups and individuals that he spent years claiming were shady, undemocratic, even lawbreaking." Obama didn't need to make the call ordering the IRS to investigate conservatives. They heard him loud and clear every day!
• John Fund describes Obama's weak management style and raises the question about Chicago pal Valerie Jarrett's possible role in all this.

When these scandals first broke I pointed to Obama's attack on conservatives at the commencement address at Ohio State University earlier this month. I'm glad to see the same theme repeated:

 

Did National GOP Fail in Get Out the Vote Effort in Key Senate Races?

Why did candidates underperform polls?

It's Not DeMint's Fault!

The day after the November 2nd election some establishment GOP members of the U.S. Senate blamed Jim Demint, South Carolina's junior Republican Senator, for the loss of seats in Delaware, Nevada and Colorado. Taking those three seats would have meant a 50-50 tie in the Senate. Not enough to win control as Vice President Biden would have cast the tie breaking vote in favor of Democrat control.

Yet the long knives are out for DeMint despite the fact that DeMint was not involved in the primary races in Delaware or Nevada and as Politico reports:

DeMint got behind newly-elected GOP senators Pat Toomey (Penn.), Marco Rubio (Fla.), Rand Paul (Ky.), Mike Lee (Utah) and Ron Johnson (Wisc.) in primaries even as party officials had varying degrees of skepticism about their general election prospects.

DeMint raised over $7 million for GOP candidates, outraising all other GOP Senators including those who are now complaining about him.

What's behind the DeMint bashing? I suspect that establishment GOP Senators are eager to marginalize his successes in advance of DeMint's proposal for earmark reform; which is still opposed by some GOP officials who didn't get or understand the message of the Tea Parties.

Where was GOP groundgame?

The real nagging question from this election is why did several GOP Senate candidates underperform at the ballot box when compared to polling trends in those races? Forget Christine O'Donnell in Delaware, who admittedly had her flaws and never had a lead. Look at Sharron Angle in Nevada (DeMint did not back Angle in the primary). Every poll at the end gave her a slight lead but she lost to Harry Reid by almost six points. What put Reid over the top was a massive get out the vote effort that trumped what might otherwise have been an Angle win. It was a get out the vote (GOTV) effort fraught with corruption but even the ethical portion of the effort he made was unmatched by the GOP. Where was the national GOP get out the vote machine in this key race?

In Colorado Ken Buck (DeMint backed him in the primary) was also ahead in polls at the end only to lose by less than 1 point. Again, no sign of any significant national GOP GOTV effort. Instead, the group American Crossroads, affiliated with Karl Rove, used a consultant with weak ties to grass roots voters in Colorado in a last ditch effort that was overpowered by Colorado's unions and progressive groups like Moveon.org who have an excellent track record in the state. As this analysis in the Colorado Independent points out: "Tea Party enthusiasm is no substitute for well-organized political movement infrastructure."

Lastly, it's important to note that Dino Rossi in Washington State, not an early DeMint or Tea Party backed favorite, lost his race narrowly to Patty Murray. The independent group American Crossroads helped here too but the question remains: where was the GOP groundgame?

$8 Million Down the Drain in California!

While GOP GOTV efforts in NV, CO, WA and elsewhere were starved for cash both the RNC and National Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee dumped $8 million into California to help out Carly Fiornia. Barbara Boxer beat Fiorina by  over 9 points; doubling the margin of her polling leads in the closing days. No matter how much many of us would have liked to see Barbara Boxer defeated, it's possible that taking away a good portion of that $8 million could have made the difference in the key races above.

There is also the problem of cutbacks in overall spending on GOTV efforts by the RNC after fundraising fell short. This weakness on the part of GOP Chairman Michael Steele's performance will be up for discussion as he runs for a second term as Chairman.

GOP MUST Improve GOTV Effort Before 2012!

Obviously, blaming Jim DeMint for losses in a handful of close races is absurd. And the worst thing about such a calumny is that it takes away the spotlight from where it needs to be. Namely, on implementing and FUNDING a better get out the vote effort in key states. Obama, big labor and the well funded progressive machine have kept in place the organization they used to put Obama over the top in 2008. In many cases they actually PAY people to do the grass roots grunt work while the GOP continues to rely on volunteers.

As it was in the Colorado race, the bottom line is that tea party enthusiasm is not enough to overcome a well oiled and well funded progressive machine. What's called for her is a honest look at the shortcomings in the architecture of our get out the vote effort nationwide. What will happen in 2012 in must win states like Ohio when their may be less Tea Party enthusiasm but a great outpouring of Democrat support for Obama's re-election? We have less than two years to address this issue and blaming Jim DeMint will only make the problem worse!

SC Tea Party Shatters "Racist" Myth

With the nomination of Haley for gov and Scott for Congress, Tea Party proves race is NOT a factor!

Readers will recall how in the wake of the vote on health care Democrats tried to paint Tea Party protesters as racists. Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-NY) went so far as to suggest that the Tea Partiers looked just like the Ku Klux Klan he encountered in the south during the civil rights struggles of the 1960's.

And yet, it was the Tea Party movement in South Carolina, along with an endorsement from Sarah Palin which helped propel Tim Scott(pictured right)to victory in the runoff for the GOP nomination to the 1st Congressional seat in SC representing Charleston. To drive the point home, Scott beat Paul Thurmond, the son of the late U.S. senator and former segregationist Strom Thurmond. The 1st district includes Fort Sumter, on which Confederates fired the first shot starting the Civil War.

Also, Niki Haley, who succeeded in the runoff for nomination as the GOP candidate for SC Governor is an Indian-American and a former Sikh.

Can we now put the lie to bed that the Tea Parties are racist? Don't bet on it. Dems get too much mileage out of such wild and unfounded accusations. It helps them stir up the willfully ignorant who make up such a large segment of their political base. It doesn't matter to them that it's not true!

What Liberals at NPR Really Think About Taxpayers Who Pay Their Salary

Want more reasons why Public Broadcasting should be defunded?

James O'Keefe, the same video blogger who busted ACORN with the child prostitute smuggling sting is at it again. This time, members of his group, Project Veritas, posed as Muslim Americans advocating Shariah Law and met with executives of National Public Radio at a Washington restaurant to discuss a possible contribution to NPR.

What transpired was a moment when the curtain was pulled away and we see and hear what liberals in the media, and particularly the government supported media, really think about the American citizens who pay their salary:

Schiller on Republicans and the Tea Parties: White, Racist, Evangelical, Islamaphobic, Gun Toting

“The current Republican Party, particularly the Tea Party, is fanatically involved in people’s personal lives and very fundamental Christian – I wouldn’t even call it Christian. It’s this weird evangelical kind of move,”

The Republican Party, Schiller says, has been “hijacked by this group.” The man posing as Malik finishes the sentence by adding, “the radical, racist, Islamaphobic, Tea Party people.” Schiller agrees and intensifies the criticism, saying that the Tea Party people aren’t “just Islamaphobic, but really xenophobic, I mean basically they are, they believe in sort of white, middle-America gun-toting. I mean, it’s scary. They’re seriously racist, racist people.”

Just one question: How many black faces are their in the boardroom at NPR who aren't fetching coffee? Answer? NOT ONE! And yet Republicans and Tea Partiers are racist?

NPR and Universities Not Liberal, Just Intellectual

"I really don't think it's [NPR] a liberal organization. I don't believe it's a conservative organization or a liberal organization. One other thing you can look at is how universities are regarded by a Democratic Congress versus a Republican Congress."

"It's the same thing. It's much more about anti-intellectualism than it is about political, as a university is also by definition considered in this country to be liberal even though it's not at all. It's liberal, because it's intellectual...a pursuit of knowledge. That is traditionally something the Democrats have funded and Republicans have not. So NPR traditionally gets sort of lumped in."

So why do so many fair, balanced and tolerant intellectual professors refuse to hire conservatives to teach?

All Scientists Agree on Global Warming?

"The main point here is that it is not our responsibility to present the opinion of a non-scientist through our science desk. All educated scientists accept that climate change as fact."

Of course EVERYONE accepts climate change as a fact. The earth is constantly getting warmer and colder but we know Schiller intended to suggest is that no credible scientist would dispute the theory that man is to blame. That will be news to Dr. Roy Spencer, former Senior Scientist for Climate Studies at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, winner of NASA's Exceptional Scientific Achievement Medal for global temperature monitoring work.

NPR Better Off Without Federal Money?

“Well frankly, it is clear that we would be better off in the long-run without federal funding. “NPR would definitely survive and most of the stations would survive.”

Schiller's atittudes are pervasive at places like NPR. Do we really need to be insulted by hyper-snobbish liberal elitists who get rich living off the taxpayers? Why don't we just help out NPR and give them their freedom?
