Democrats Corrupting September 11th Anniversary with Political Agenda

Similar to the classless act at the Kennedy funeral which had a prayer to the Lord for government run health care!

Obama has declared that September 11th from now on shall be known as a National Day of Service and Remembrance. Not a bad idea if you are honoring the firemen, police officers and the passengers on Flight 93 who gave their lives trying to save Americans.

But.... like the Kennedy funeral which couldn't help but use a religious moment to support a partisan political agenda, Obama's idea of service and remembrance is a bit different from that of ordinary Americans.

This editorial in the New York Daily News puts it well:

The Obama administration supports creating clean energy jobs in cities through a campaign called Green the Block, started by the groups Green For All and the Hip Hop Caucus. After cabinet officials met with leaders of the organizations in the West Wing, aides posted a video and a statement on the White House blog.

Van Jones, an Obama environmental adviser, said 9/11 would be an opportunity to "connect, to find other people in your peer group who are also passionate about repowering America but also greening up America and cleaning up America."

And the Rev. Lennox Yearwood, head of the Hip Hop Caucus said:

"The first milestone for Green the Block will be on our National Day of Service, Sept. 11, 2009, where we will organize Green the Block service events around the country in coordination with the President's initiative, United We Serve."

No. Wrong. Entirely wrong.

9/11 is not about green jobs or health care or bank bailouts or about the ideologies and egos of celebrities who are planning concerts and other performances this year. To them, hands off.

And "remembrance" must not, must never, be forgotten.

It would be sacrilege to smother 3,000 murders under gauzy and fleeting good feelings.

It would be a gross betrayal to gloss the evil that targeted - and still targets - America.
This is just another in a sad and lengthening list of how Obama and his lib cronies are corrupting American values for partisan political purposes.

Former V.P. Cheney on Fox News Sunday

An excellent interview with Chris Wallace from Cheney's home in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. A reminder about what a solid, no nonsense V.P we used to have. Quite a contrast with the bumbling blowhard Biden who currently occupies that office!

Notice how Chris Wallace asks more tough questions of Cheney than the media ever asks of B. Hussein Obama?

G.E. World's 6th Largest Corporation Unmasked as Obama Front Group

Not only do they profit billions from Obama's policies, they shut out dissenting voices on their television networks!

Obama and the Democrats love to slam Fox News for presenting opposing points of view. So, it's no surprise that Obama prefers to give interviews to NBC which he feels is more sympathetic to his cause. NBC has been in the tank for Obama from the beginning.

Further proof of NBC's favoritism came this week when the network rejected the following ad from the League of American Voters:

The ad NBC and Obama don't want you to see!

Why? Follow the Money!

How do we explain this favoritism? It's more than the usual liberal bias. It's all about money. NBC and MSNBC are owned by General Electric. G.E.'s CEO, Jeffrey Immelt is on Obama's Economic Recovery Advisory Board and is a big supporter of Obama's economic policy. That's not surprising since G.E. stands to rake in billions under Obama's green energy and health care plans.

And G.E.'s execs aren't even discrete about it:

Leaked e-mail shows how GE puts the government to work for GE
By: Timothy P. Carney
Washington Examiner
August 26, 2009

"The intersection between GE's interests and government action is clearer than ever," General Electric Vice Chairman John G. Rice wrote in an Aug. 19 e-mail to colleagues.

Rice was calling on his co-workers to join the General Electric Political Action Committee. "GEPAC is an important tool that enables GE employees to collectively help support candidates who share the values and goals of GE."

The full letter suggests that "share the values and goals of GE" really means "support policies that profit the company."

Steve Milloy, a pro-free market investor at the Free Enterprise Action Fund, obtained this e-mail and says it reveals General Electric for what it really is. "GE is lobbying to become the biggest rent seeker this country has ever seen," Milloy told this column. Rent seeking is using government legislation or regulation to generate private profits the free market wouldn't provide.

"On climate change," Rice wrote, "we were able to work closely with key authors of the Waxman-Markey climate and energy bill, recently passed by the House of Representatives. If this bill is enacted into law it would benefit many GE businesses."

Democrats used to complain about Halliburton's influence and profit from government connections during the Bush years. But Halliburton, at #167 on the Fortune 500 list pales in comparison to the impact that #6 G.E. can wield. And if our liberal friends would dispute that then, answer me this: how many news networks does Halliburton own?

Beware Obama's September Surprise

It's not about saving the health care bill. It's about saving his presidency!

Just before President Obama left on his vacation to Martha's Vineyard, he held a meeting with members of Organizing for America, the grass roots group which morphed over from his presidential campaign.

He warned them not to get all "wee weed up" with his recent slide in the polls and the sour outlook for passing the most ambitious version of Democrats health care takeover. Looking back to a year ago he said:

OBAMA: Just remember we've been through this before. Some of you were involved when we were in Iowa, 30 points down, and all of Washington said, oh, it's over -- hand-wringing and angst and teeth-gnashing. And then last year just about this time, you'll recall that the Republicans had just nominated their Vice Presidential candidate, and everybody was -- the media was obsessed with it, and cable was 24 hours a day, and "Obama's lost his mojo." You remember all that? There's something about August going into September -- where everybody in Washington gets all wee-weed up.
Yes we have been through this before and as readers will recall, in September of last year Democrats took full advantage of a long dormant "crisis" in the financial markets, sparked by Democrat's insistence that home loans be available to anyone for the asking and refusing to allow regulatory reform which might have prevented the meltdown. John McCain suspended his campaign and walked right into the Democrats trap. All was chaos and confusion. A perfect setup for a Democrat victory.

Certainly no one expects another market crisis to be manufactured in so short a period of time; especially so since this time it would not benefit Obama. But what else might Obama and the Dems be cooking up?

Permanent Campaign Wearing Thin?

Democrats are promising that Obama will go into campaign overdrive this fall on behalf of health care. But,Obama has been in campaign mode since he was inaugurated. However, Fred Barnes points out that the more Obama talks, the lower his approval goes. Last fall, Obama campaigned with fuzzy hopey-changey rhetoric. He's now realizing that people want more than bumper sticker slogans from their President and especially on an issue like health care which truly is a life and death matter to all concerned.

Lately, Obama's high minded rhetoric from the campaign has given way to a new negativity. Instead of a positive message, we often hear a scold, whose tone has a certain sanctimonious arrogance that turns people off. He attacks Republicans for conspiring against him. Obama insists that "lies" from Fox News are to blame for his falling approval ratings. Senior Democrat leaders label the opposition as "unAmerican" or "evilmongers" with others suggesting that racism is behind their opposition to a federal takeover of health care.

Nolan Finley, editorial page editor for the Detroit News puts it mildly:
It's inconceivable to the liberal political establishment and their pals in the media that the people might have legitimate and fully informed objections to the grand government expansion they've orchestrated. The only answer that makes sense to them is that evil Republicans are scaring people to death.

It can't be dismissed as solely the work of Republican dirty tricksters. Up until a few weeks ago, the GOP was written off as impotent and irrelevant. And now it can muster the muscle to counter Obama's move-on machine? No way.

Democrats are handing their opponents a victory by misjudging the appetite of Americans for a European-style nanny state.

The liberal elite makes a critical error in assuming the protesters don't know what Obama's health care plan stands for and where it's likely to take them. Americans recognize a slippery slope when they're about to slide down one.
Pew Poll Shows Dems Losing Independents, Women, Younger Voters

What should concern Obama's strategists the most is how quickly the middle ground voters he relied on for his campaign victory in 2008 are leaving him.

A 12% drop in positive views of the Democrat Party among women from April to August. in the latest Pew Poll. A 14% drop among those age 30-49 with a 9% drop in 18-29 and 50-64 year old respondents.

And notice the 14% drop among those earning less than $30,000 per year. A group which is a natural Democrat constituency.

What's Up Obama's Sleeve?

Now that Obama has unmasked himself as the big spending liberal we all said he was during the campaign, the old slogans don't work any more. Obama and his advisors know that if something doesn't change soon, his presidency will be in serious trouble.

Swine Flu Scare?

Ted Kennedy's death won't rescue a health care bill with a government option. No amount of Democrat astroturfing is likely to do that. The damage is already done. The goal now is for Obama to save face and sign a bill called health reform and stop the bleeding of Obama's approval rating. Even to do that, in this poisonous atmosphere Democrats have created, they'll have to dig deep into their bag of tricks.

Why not gin up the tried and true scare machine? And what better excuse than the Swine Flu. Obama's President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology recently predicted that 90,000 Americans could die of the Swine Flu this season. Of course that might not be such a bad thing according to John Holdren, co-chair fot he Council and Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy in the White House. Holdren is on record proposing forced abortions and sterilizations for population control (can we say "death panel's" again?) Let's not forget that about 40,00 Americans die of the flu each year.

McCain to the Rescue?

Obama's best hope may be a compromise with Senate Republicans, ala the "gang of 14" which allowed Democrats to continue obstructing Bush judicial nominees if they let a handful go through to a vote. And ready to reprise that role is Senator John McCain (R-AZ) who despite voting more closely with his GOP Senate colleagues has sent out discrete signals he would be ready to make a deal. The question now is whether McCain learned his lesson in September of last year where he walked into that Democrat trap or he is ready to repeat that mistake?

Obama his own worst enemy?

What is to come after the health care issue is settled? Will Obama drop the name-calling, Bush blaming, Fox/Rush bashing and phony charges of racism which have typified the "debate" this summer over health care as he moves on to other contentious issues like immigration?

When Bill Clinton lost the debate over Hillary Care in the early 90's he deftly triangulated and found common ground to work with Republicans on issues like NAFTA and welfare reform. That and Ross Perot saved his re-election bid in 1996. At this juncture, it's difficult to see how Obama, who shot down ideas from Republican congressional leaders by telling them "I won," will suddenly drop the arrogance and scolding habits which seem to be matched only by his ego.

Time will tell if the most liberal former member of the U.S. Senate will suddenly change his spots or his tone!

Honor Ted Kennedy by Immediate Pullout of Iraq and Afghanistan?

If Dems say "Do it for Ted" in health scare debate, why not honor his other wishes?

As Dems continue to politicize the death of Senator Edward Kennedy (D-MA) by insisting we pass the Dem's bill for a radical takeover of America's health care system (see here and here), the thought occurred to me: why stop there?

Surely if you want to honor Senator Kennedy's memory by advancing the causes he believed in then why make it just about health care? Ted Kennedy was also one of the leaders in the Senate who demanded an immediate withdrawal of our troops in Iraq and denounced our involvement in Afghanistan.

In 2005, Kennedy proclaimed that our policy in Iraq was a "shame and stain on America's good name as a beacon of human rights." In 2006 he insisted that he and fellow Senators who voted for withdrawal in Iraq:

"Represent the heart’s cry of every red-blooded American...We hear the voice of the people, and the people say they want immediate, unconditional withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq.”
Recall also that Senator Kennedy forecast defeat in Afghanistan; calling it "a quagmire, another Vietnam."

Shouldn't those who insist we honor Senator Kennedy's memory by following his belief that government run health care is preferable to letting citizens decide these issues for themselves also embrace Kennedy's insistence we pull our troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan NOW?

Especially when you consider that President Obama himself ran on a platform of an accelerated pullout of Iraq Dems would be eager to further capitalize on Kennedy's death by reinvigorating the "pull out now" wing of the Democrat party which he represented.

Curiously enough, an immediate withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan seems to be the last thing on Democrat's minds these days. I guess it's no longer politically advantageous for them to promote defeat!

What A Shame: How Dems Politicize the Death of Edward Kennedy

Respect for his family and legacy are secondary to short term political goals!

When I learned this morning of the passing of Senator Edward Kennedy, (D-MA) my first thought was for the closing of this chapter in the history of a great man and an American political dynasty. My earliest political memory is of the funeral of his brother, President John F. Kennedy. Ted's passing reminds me once again, how fleeting our time is on this planet.

His passing marks a milestone in American history. What a shame that rather than reflect on his life and family dynasty, the great lights of which are now gone, so many on the left are attempting to use his death for their own ends.

There was an early taste of this at Mike's America where one Obamaton asked:

"Mike, Could you attack Ted Kennedy today? It would be really good for Democrats and health insurance reform if you attack Teddy all week."
Talking points along lines less overt than that, but still classless have been echoed all day in the national "news" media. Here's a sampling:

DOUGLAS BRINKLEY (CBS): Well, the health care debate that we're in the middle of right now, I mean it's been a summer of town hall meetings, we're going to head into September and October, and I think the ghost of Ted Kennedy, the spirit of Ted Kennedy is going to be with that health care debate. Democrats are going to try to push universal health care through as the legacy piece for Teddy Kennedy.

NORAH O'DONNELL (MSNBC): I think there's a huge impact. Ted Kennedy asked President Obama to promise him that this would get done because, as Ted Kennedy had said, this is the cause of his lifetime.

SAVANNAH GUTHRIE (MSNBC): I wonder what you think the impact of his passing will be now on this battle. Is there a possibility that there will be some new groundswell of bipartisanship that it could be a change of tone, or does all of that pass with him?

DAVID GREGORY (NBC): This was a great cause of his life, getting health care reform. There's no question that Kennedy will still loom large as this debate moves forward.

GLORIA BORGER (CNN): The Democrats will continue to talk about the legacy of Ted Kennedy and try to pass some version of health care reform that Ted Kennedy would have supported and would have liked.

DONNA BRAZILE (CNN): This will help to redouble the efforts of those who would truly like to see some major reform of our health insurance system in this country, and I hope that when Congress returns to work in a couple weeks they will not only remember Ted Kennedy, but also remember what he fought for. This would have been a fight that he would lead to the bitter end.

CHRIS CUOMO (ABC): His memory will be constantly interjected into the debate and in that sense he will be a part of it.

If you really want a taste on how Dems plan to use Kennedy's death in this tasteless manner, look no further than the statement by Senator Robert Byrd:

"My heart and soul weeps at the loss of my best friend in the Senate, my beloved friend, Ted Kennedy. In his honor and as a tribute to his commitment to his ideals, let us stop the shouting and name calling and have a civilized debate on health care reform which I hope, when legislation has been signed into law, will bear his name for his commitment to insuring the health of every American."
And Nancy Pelosi: "[the] Kennedy health reform dream will be real this year."

Now imagine for a moment what Democrats would have said if on the news of President Reagan's death Republicans all shouted that we must pass Social Security reform to honor him?

It's appropriate that we spend some time to reflect on the life of an American icon as he passes from the scene. But Democrats only invite negative memories of Chappaquiddick or Borking if they persist in politicizing this event.

As funeral plans are made, let's hope Democrats demonstrate more decorum and maturity than they did at the Wellstone memorial which they turned into a partisan political rally.

If Democrats want a memorial to Ted Kennedy, let them raise funds for an extension of the Kennedy Library in Massachusetts. Or perhaps President Obama can approve the use of some stimulus money for that purpose. But don't sully the memory of this man by using his death as a crass, partisan political maneuver.

Obama Demands Press Respect His Girl's Privacy

Meanwhile, he uses them like props whenever it is convenient!

President urges media shutterbugs to respect daughters’ privacy
By Susan Milligan
Boston Globe
August 24, 2009

...the real message to those hoping to cover the president’s vacation is: really, we wish you wouldn’t.

Unlike recent presidents, Obama has two young children, and the first couple is adamant that the girls be left alone. That means no approaching, cameras in tow, when Sasha and Malia are trying to get ice cream, or perhaps ride on the island’s famed carousel.

Aside from wishing a good time for all, in fact, the president had one clear message yesterday for reporters, said Bill Burton, the deputy White House press secretary: “The first family would very much appreciate if you respect the privacy of the girls while they’re out here on vacation.’’

ABC News Reports "profanity-laced screaming match" at the White House involving CIA Director Leon Panetta

Does this sound like adults are in charge?

Obama White House v. CIA; Panetta Threatened to Quit
Tensions Lead to CIA Director's "Screaming Match" at the White House
ABC News
August 24, 2009

A "profanity-laced screaming match" at the White House involving CIA Director Leon Panetta, and the expected release today of another damning internal investigation, has administration officials worrying about the direction of its newly-appoint intelligence team, current and former senior intelligence officials tell ABC News.com.

Amid reports that Panetta had threatened to quit just seven months after taking over at the spy agency, other insiders tell ABCNews.com that senior White House staff members are already discussing a possible shake-up of top national security officials.

"You can expect a larger than normal turnover in the next year," a senior adviser to Obama on intelligence matters told ABCNews.com.
According to intelligence officials, Panetta erupted in a tirade last month during a meeting with a senior White House staff member. Panetta was reportedly upset over plans by Attorney General Eric Holder to open a criminal investigation of allegations that CIA officers broke the law in carrying out certain interrogation techniques that President Obama has termed "torture."
Obama is systematically dismantling the CIA and undermining National Security. Need more proof of that?

Obama's WH Interrogation Unit
WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama has approved creation of a new, special terrorism-era interrogation unit to be supervised by the White House, a top aide said Monday, further distancing his administration from President George W. Bush's detainee policies.
Do we have any assurance that this White House unit will be prevented from infringing on the civil liberties of Americans?

Mike's America Drops In at Town Hall on Health Care

An overflow crowd and some liberal astroturfers were on hand to hear Cong. Joe Wilson (R-SC) explain why he opposes the Dem bill!

And yes, they started the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer!

Liberal astroturfers with their professionally made signs provided by Moveon.org and big money Democrat donors like George Soros!

With only a handful of professional liberal protesters outside, the real story here were the hundreds of citizens, 95% senior citizens, who packed the auditorium at Hilton Head Island High School Saturday afternoon.

More were unable to get in as the room was filled beyond capacity. Yours truly gave up his place so that a senior citizen might take my standing room view.

I already knew that Congressman Wilson is voting against the Dem plan for a government takeover of health are. At the door, his staff supplied materials to all attendees with excerpts of his speeches on the subject and a copy of the organizational plan below which highlights what a monster this bill is:

full size image here.

Cong. Wilson also distributed a letter with his five top concerns about a government run health care plan. Here are the main points:

  • Health care costs will go up not down under the Majority's [Dem] plan and will add to our nation's debt.
  • Over 100 million Americans could lose their current coverage and be forced into a government-run plan.
  • Raises $818 billion in taxes on individuals and small businesses.
  • Would lead to 1.6 million jobs lost according to the National Federation of Independent Businesses.
  • A government-run plan will lead to fewer choices for patients and physicians and a rationing of care.
Included in the handout materials was a side by side comparison between the government takeover plan put forward by the Democrats in the House and the conservative alternative which was produced by the Republican Study Committee called "Empowering Patients First Act."

It's clear by examining the two bills, that the GOP alternative achieves the goals of expanding access to health care while controlling costs and preserving Americans rights to choose the health care that is best for them.

What a shame that rather than consider GOP alternatives, Democrats and Obama have instead resorted to a vicious name calling campaign which demonizes opponents as being liars, "unAmerican" or "evil mongers."

But those who attended today's Town Hall meeting were not going to be fooled or intimidated by Democrat tactics or the rent a mob outside!

Americans are taking back their country one Town Hall meeting at a time!

P.S. I didn't bring a sign to today's meeting but did have this bumpber sticker plastered on my back:

Full size graphic here in case readers want to print it out and put in their car's rear window.

Life and Death Decisions No Longer Above Obama's "Pay Grade"

Being elected President IS quite a promotion. But Obama is going too far if he thinks that makes him "God's partner!"

Readers may recall the presidential forum at Saddleback Church where Pastor Rick Warren asked then Senator Obama “at what point does a baby get human rights?” Obama's stumbling, bumbling (no teleprompter) answer was that such a question was "above my pay grade." (video)

Apparently Obama has had a quite a promotion. In a conference call on health care with 1,000 Rabbis Obama told them:

"We are God's partners in matters of life and death," Obama said, quoting from the Rosh Hashanah prayer that says that in the holiday period, it is decided "who shall live and who shall die."
Goodness! Sounds like DEATH PANELS to me!

And some of the rabbis thought it was quite odd that the background music which played while the rabbis were on hold waiting for Obama was 'Deutschland uber Alles,' a classic German militarist anthem praising the Kaiser. It's only one small step away from "Sieg Heil."

"Bearing False Witness":

Later, Obama delivered a similar message to an online program (audio) set up by the National Council of Churches. In it, he claimed that "There are some folks out there who are, frankly, bearing false witness" about the Dems proposed health care bill.

Death Panels?

He insisted that it was an "extraordinary lie" to suggest that there would be "death panels" to decide who gets care and who dies. Sarah Palin has already debunked that nonsense and the Senate acknowledged the problem by removing that provision in their version of the bill. And what's more, we have Obama's own words in an interview he gave to the New York Times on April 28 in which he discussed end of life care:

THE PRESIDENT: So that’s where I think you just get into some very difficult moral issues. But that’s also a huge driver of cost, right?

I mean, the chronically ill and those toward the end of their lives are accounting for potentially 80 percent of the total health care bill out here.

Q:So how do you — how do we deal with it?

THE PRESIDENT: Well, I think that there is going to have to be a conversation that is guided by doctors, scientists, ethicists. And then there is going to have to be a very difficult democratic conversation that takes place. It is very difficult to imagine the country making those decisions just through the normal political channels. And that’s part of why you have to have some independent group that can give you guidance. It’s not determinative, but I think has to be able to give you some guidance. And that’s part of what I suspect you’ll see emerging out of the various health care conversations that are taking place on the Hill right now.

Free Care for Illegals?

Obama also claimed that the health bill would not cover illegal aliens. But he constantly cites the number of 47 million uninsured in this country, 12 million of which are here illegally. He's also cited a "basic standard of decency" (video) which would continue to provide illegals with care on demand at taxpayer expense.

But what really puts the lie to this no-illegals pledge is the fact that when Republicans offered amendments to the House bill which would "increase safeguards to ensure taxpayer-funded benefits do not go to individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States." Democrats voted against it.

Keep Your Doctor?

Once again, Obama repeated the pledge that "If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan." The problem is that Fact Check.Org and numerous other analysts pronounce that it's just not so.

Tax Payer Funded Abortions?

Obama also claimed that abortions were not part of the bill. Yet even the New York Times analysis admits that it's highly likely that abortion would be covered once the bill is implemented. For the best indication of Democrat's real intentions we look again to the amendments offered by Republicans in the House. Congressman Stupak (R-MI) offered an amendment banning taxpayer funds for abortions. Democrats voted it down.

Obama His "Brother's Keeper"

In wrapping up his laundry list of misleading charges, Obama made this statement:

"These are all fabrications that have been put out there in order to discourage people from meeting what I consider to be a core ethical and moral obligation: that is, that we look out for one another; that is, I am my brother's keeper, I am my sister's keeper. And in the wealthiest nation in the world right now we are neglecting to live up to that call."
That statement rings completely hollow as we gaze at the photo of his half brother George Hussein (at right) who still lives on less than $1 per day in a shack in Africa.

One would think that someone who sees himself as a "partner to God" would be a little more careful with the truth and might also take his own family responsibility more seriously. Unless of course he's nothing but a lying charlatan out for political power; not to help people!

Obama To Give Billions in Loans for Brazilian Offshore Oil Drilling to Company Partly Owned By Dem's Biggest Contributor

And yet Dems block offshore oil production in the U.S.

Two pieces of information here. Connect the dots:

1. The Obama Administration is offering billions in loans for oil drilling off the coast of Brazil.

2. George Soros, the Dems top money man has a huge financial stake in the offshore drilling company.

Obama Underwrites Offshore Drilling
Too bad it's not in U.S. waters
Wall Street Journal
AUGUST 18, 2009

You read that headline correctly. Unfortunately, the Obama Administration is financing oil exploration off Brazil.

The U.S. is going to lend billions of dollars to Brazil's state-owned oil company, Petrobras, to finance exploration of the huge offshore discovery in Brazil's Tupi oil field in the Santos Basin near Rio de Janeiro. Brazil's planning minister confirmed that White House National Security Adviser James Jones met this month with Brazilian officials to talk about the loan.

The U.S. Export-Import Bank tells us it has issued a "preliminary commitment" letter to Petrobras in the amount of $2 billion and has discussed with Brazil the possibility of increasing that amount. Ex-Im Bank says it has not decided whether the money will come in the form of a direct loan or loan guarantees. Either way, this corporate foreign aid may strike some readers as odd, given that the U.S. Treasury seems desperate for cash and Petrobras is one of the largest corporations in the Americas.

But look on the bright side. If President Obama has embraced offshore drilling in Brazil, why not in the old U.S.A.? The land of the sorta free and the home of the heavily indebted has enormous offshore oil deposits, and last year ahead of the November elections, with gasoline at $4 a gallon, Congress let a ban on offshore drilling expire.
And this:
Soros Hedge Fund Bought Petrobras Stake Worth $811 Million
By Jeb Blount and Miles Weiss

Aug. 15 (Bloomberg) -- Billionaire investor George Soros bought an $811 million stake in Petroleo Brasileiro SA in the second quarter, making the Brazilian state-controlled oil company his investment fund's largest holding.

As of June 30, the stake in Petrobras, as the Rio de Janeiro-based oil producer is known, made up 22 percent of the $3.68 billion of stocks and American depositary receipts held by Soros Fund Management LLC, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

One Campaign Promise Obama Kept: Shower His Friends with Money

In 2008 Michelle Malkin penned a column in which she described the payoffs in store for George Soros and friends if Obama were elected. Funny how quickly Obama has been able to keep that promise.

George Soros stands to make hundreds of millions in profit from a loan by the U.S. to Petrobas for offshore drilling. Why is no one surprised? Perhaps as a thank you gesture, George Soros has been pouring millions of dollars of his ill-gotten gains into the Obama Hell Care racket.

While this may be one of the biggest payoffs by the Chicago thugocracy which currently occupies the White House it wasn't the first. The Stimulus Bill included hefty payoffs to ACORN, the community agitator organization which has played a key role in the health care debate when they are not too busy falsifying voter registration forms. ACORN also stands to gain millions more if the health bill passes. Stimulus spending also went largely to areas that supported Obama's election.

Let's not forget the auto workers union. They gained control of billions of assets in GM and Chrysler after spending $4.5 million on behalf of Obama in the 2008 campaign. And what about all those investment bankers on Wall Street that had their jobs saved by Obama along with their huge bonuses now underwritten by the U.S. Treasury?

And how about the The Cap and Trade crowd? Big corporations and Obama backers like General Electric and more greedy Wall Street tycoons stand to rake in billions if the bill passes.

Some may want to say this is all one big coincidence. Oh... sure it is! Right! And I bet those who do think that still believe in the Tooth Fairy!

A thugocracy by any other name STILL STINKS!

Obama's Postal Moment

If he really believes what he says then we are in trouble!

Obama Goes Postal, Lands in Dead-Letter Office
Commentary by Caroline Baum

Aug. 18 (Bloomberg) -- “UPS and FedEx are doing just fine. It’s the Post Office that’s always having problems.” -- Barack Obama, Aug. 11, 2009

...When Obama compared the post office to UPS and FedEx, he was clearly hoping to assuage voter concerns about a public health-care option undercutting and eliminating private insurance.

What he did instead was conjure up visions of long lines and interminable waits. Why do we need or want a health-care system that works like the post office?

What’s more, if the USPS is struggling to compete with private companies, as Obama implied, why introduce a government health-care option that would operate at the same disadvantage?

Obama Unscripted

These are just two of the questions someone listening to the president’s health-insurance reform roadshow might want to ask.

Impromptu Obamanomics is getting scarier by the day. For all the president’s touted intelligence, his un-teleprompted comments reveal a basic misunderstanding of capitalist principles.

For example, asked at the Portsmouth town hall how private insurance companies can compete with the government, the president said the following:

“If the private insurance companies are providing a good bargain, and if the public option has to be self-sustaining -- meaning taxpayers aren’t subsidizing it, but it has to run on charging premiums and providing good services and a good network of doctors, just like any other private insurer would do -- then I think private insurers should be able to compete.”

Self-sustaining? The public option? What has Obama been doing during those daily 40-minute economic briefings coordinated by uber-economic-adviser, Larry Summers?

Capitalism Explained

Government programs aren’t self-sustaining by definition. They’re subsidized by the taxpayer. If they were self-financed, we’d be off the hook.

Llewellyn Rockwell Jr., chairman of the Ludwig von Mises Institute in Auburn, Alabama, and editor of LewRockwell.com, put it this way in an Aug. 13 commentary on Mises.org:

“The only reason for a government service is precisely to provide financial support for an operation that is otherwise unsustainable, or else there would be no point in the government’s involvement at all.”
Everyone makes a mistake or flubs a line when asked questions on the spot, including the president of the United States. We can overlook run-on sentences, subject and verb tense disagreement, even a memory lapse when it comes to facts and figures.

The proliferation of Obama’s gaffes and non sequiturs on health care has exceeded the allowable limit. He has failed repeatedly to explain how the government will provide more (health care) for less (money). He has failed to explain why increased demand for medical services without a concomitant increase in supply won’t lead to rationing by government bureaucrats as opposed to the market. And he has failed to explain why a Medicare-like model is desirable when Medicare itself is going broke.

The public is left with one of two unsettling conclusions: Either the president doesn’t understand the health-insurance reform plans working their way through Congress, or he understands both the plans and the implications and is being untruthful about the impact.

Neither option is good; ignorance is clearly preferable to the alternative.

This is what you get when you elect a man with no other experience other than a rabble rousing community organizer, a state senator and a brief time as a U.S. Senator. He hasn't the experience around which to erect a core of wise values!

Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) Called Obama Hell Care Protesters "Evil Mongers" And No One in the Media Batted an Eye

Sarah Palin described Obama's plan to ration care as "death panels" and all hell broke loose!

The rule appears to be that Democrats can call Americans with whom they disagree "evil" or "unAmerican" and that's just fine!

Harry Reid's 'Evil' Moment And Democrats wonder why their health plan isn't selling.
Wall Street Journal
AUGUST 18, 2009

Remember when polite society treated a politician's use of the word "evil" as a sign that the old boy was dangerously lacking upstairs?

We saw it in 1983, when Ronald Reagan famously used the word in a speech to describe the Soviet empire. What a rube! New York Times columnist Anthony Lewis spoke for the smart set when he wondered what Soviet leaders must think: "What confidence can they have in the restraint of an American leader with such an outlook?"

We saw it again in 2002, when George W. Bush characterized North Korea, Iran and Saddam Hussein's Iraq as an "axis of evil." Tom Daschle, a Democrat and then Senate majority leader, warned that "we've got to be very careful with rhetoric of that kind"; former President Jimmy Carter called it "overly simplistic and counterproductive"; and comedian Will Ferrell parodied it on Saturday Night Live. Soon the phrase became acceptable only in the ironic sense—as in the Chris Fair cookbook titled "Cuisines of the Axis of Evil and Other Irritating States: A Dinner Party Approach to International Relations."

With all this history, you would think Harry Reid (D., Nev.) had ample warning. Nevertheless, the Senate majority leader invoked the e-word himself last week at an energy conference in Las Vegas, where he accused those protesting President Barack Obama's health-care proposals of being "evil mongers." So proud was he of this contribution to the American political lexicon that he repeated it to a reporter the next day and noted the phrase was "an original."

And then . . . nothing. No thundering rebuke from the New York Times. No outburst from Mr. Carter. In fact, it's hard not to notice that the good and gracious people who instinctively recoil at words like "evil" or "un-American" (the preferred term of Mr. Reid's counterpart in the House, Speaker Nancy Pelosi) have all been silent.

It would be easy to read something dark into Mr. Reid's characterization, and the yawn with which it has been greeted. In fact, what we have here is really the logical extension of the liberal assumption that they have a monopoly on brain power. In such a world, anyone who dissents, almost by definition, has to be stupid or evil or both.
When asked if the senator has any second thoughts about calling American citizens evil, a spokesman emailed me to say that Mr. Reid's only regret is the "hate-filled rhetoric and signage" being used "to disrupt civil dialogue."

It's clear that the Dem plan to force Obama's Hell Care down our throats uses tactics which demonize and dismiss opponents, no matter how rational or sound their criticism is.

I'd call this a very unpatriotic and unAmerican, even Stalinist outlook, but then I'd be attacked by the left for doing exactly what they do routinely!

White House Halts Overt Domestic Spying Program on Obama Hell Care Opponents

At least they appear to have stopped collecting email addresses of Americans. There is no hint they have stopped collecting other information on political opponents!

White House disables e-tip box

Following a furor over how the data would be used, the White House has shut down an electronic tip box — flag@whitehouse.gov — that was set up to receive information on “fishy” claims about President Barack Obama’s health plan.

E-mails to that address now bounce back with the message: “The e-mail address you just sent a message to is no longer in service. We are now accepting your feedback about health insurance reform via http://www.whitehouse.gov/realitycheck.”

The “flag” service was introduced Aug. 4, with a White House blog post saying: “There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.”

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said at a briefing shortly after the service launched: “We're not collecting names from those e-mails. … All we're asking people to do is if they're confused about what health care reform is going to mean to them, we're happy to help clear that up for you. Nobody is keeping anybody's names.”

Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, wrote a letter to Obama raising privacy concerns about what the senator called an “Obama monitoring program.”

“I can only imagine the level of justifiable outrage had your predecessor asked Americans to forward e-mails critical of his policies to the White House,” Cornyn wrote. “So I urge you to cease this program immediately.”

In a later statement, Cornyn said: “Of course

the White House is collecting names. … It is inevitable. Anyone with access to the flag@whitehouse.gov account has access to the names and email addresses that are collected in that account. … How are they purging names and e-mail addresses from this account to protect privacy?”
Reminder to Obamaton snitches: You can still report your neighbors and friends for their politically unacceptable views by visiting:

How's that for Hope and Change?

Beware "Public Option" Government Hell Care Takeover By Another Name

Obama's latest retreat is just a tactical move in a longer battle!

News that Obama was prepared to abandon demands for a public option from the health care bills currently making their way through Congress was viewed as a victory by some who oppose a government takeover of health care. Sadly, it's too soon to celebrate.

Obama and the Dems have shown a remarkable ability to go for the moon and the stars. And if they have to settle for just the moon, in this particular legislative battle, it still means an onerous and likely permanent reduction in the freedom Americans currently enjoy and one which will profoundly handicap our future prosperity.

A Dung Heap By Any Other Name Still Smells...

For instance, so we beat back the public option (and eliminate the death panels thanks to Sarah Palin's intervention). If instead we have federal mandated co-ops that are the equivalent of the failed Fannie Mae mortgage giant, what have we gained? How long will it be before Fannie Med comes crashing down just like the housing giant? And won't Democrats just use the new co-op as a piggy bank for their political friends in the same way they milked Fannie and Freddie for millions?

And if Obama drops the demand for a public option, won't he ask us to compromise and agree to the employer mandate which would strangle small business?

What about the provisions which make abortion coverage mandatory for health insurance or that illegal aliens must be covered? Will we now say "that's OK?" I won't.

Will we ignore the fact that Democrats refuse to allow any discussion of the tort reform necessary to contain the frivolous lawsuits that enrich trial lawyers (big Democrat contributors) and are one of the largest drivers of health care costs?

Even without the public option, we are still stuck with a bill whose primary focus is to enrich fat cats like trial lawyers, abortionists, unions, big corporations and other Democrat campaign contributors. Health care and controlling it's costs seem to be an afterthought.

In Health Care Debate, Sarah Palin Smoked Out the REAL Barack Hussein Obama

Obama's radical associations led to "Death Panels"

When the President of the United States calls you out by name you know one of two things are true: A. You are in trouble, or B. He is.

In the case of Obama responding directly to Sarah Palin's charges that Obama's Hell Care reform would lead to "death panels" rationing care and denying it to the elderly it was Obama who was in trouble.

Obama even joked about the subject in his faux Town Hall in Portsmouth, NH last Wednesday saying he wasn't going to "plug on grandma because we've decided that we don't--it's too expensive to let her live anymore."

But can we really believe what Obama says? After all, he wears quite a mask does he not?

Obama Associates With Death Doctors

During the 2008 election campaign John McCain meekly tried to assert that Obama was a radical because of the shady lefties in his background. Obama deflected that charge in the October 15, 2008 debate (transcript) by saying:
"Let me tell you who I associate with. On economic policy, I associate with Warren Buffett and former Fed Chairman Paul Volcker. If I'm interested in figuring out my foreign policy, I associate myself with my running mate, Joe Biden or with Dick Lugar, the Republican ranking member on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, or General Jim Jones, the former supreme allied commander of NATO."

Leave aside for the moment that Warren Buffett now openly criticizes Obama's economic policy, or that Paul Volcker and Dick Lugar don't want to be seen with Obama, or that Gen. Jones is now National Security Advisor and gets paid to keep quiet. It's a shame in this debate that McCain never got to do a follow up and ask Obama who he would associate with regarding health care reform.

When Sarah Palin made her "death panels" charge, the radicals once again came scurrying out of the woodwork. Obama sent his minions out to debunk what he calls disinformation (otherwise known the TRUTH). In this case, Obama sent out his own version of Dr. Mengele. Ezekiel Emanuel, a physician and brother of White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and a longtime proponent of denying care to citizens based on the value of their worth to society (if you're old and sick, you have no value).

Dr. Emanuel had this to say about Sarah Palin's charge that Obama's Hell Care would lead to "death panels:"
It’s an absolute outrage that you would take first of all a provision written in the bill. A provision allowing for doctors to talk to patients about end of life care, and turn it into the suggestion that we’re going to have euthanasia boards -- that’s a complete misreading of what’s there. It’s just trying to scare people.”
Senate Committee Removes "Death Panels" From Senate Bill

Funny how just as Obama's death doctor blasted Palin for calling this aspect of the bill a provision for "death panels" the Senate committee overseeing that bodies version of the bill removed it completely (it's still in the House version). And according to Iowa Republican Senator Chuck Grassley the provision was removed precisely because it "could be misinterpreted and implemented incorrectly." The moment wasn't lost on Sarah Palin, who updated her Facebook page with a new dig at Obama's death doctor.

Obama's Other Death Doctor Pushes Forced Abortions/Sterlizations

And he would even add birth control to our drinking water....
EDITORIAL: Obama's mad science adviser
The Washington Times
August 16, 2008

When it comes to having past views that should frighten every American citizen, Ezekiel Emanuel (see above editorial) has nothing on the president's "chief science adviser," John P. Holdren. The combination of Mr. Holdren with Dr. Emanuel should make the public seriously concerned with this administration's moral compass concerning care for the old and weak.

Earlier this month, Mr. Holdren served as co-chairman when the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology met for the first time. It's a disgrace that Mr. Holdren is even on the council. In "Ecoscience: Population, Resources, Environment," a book he co-authored in 1977 with noted doomsayers Paul R. and Anne H. Erlich, Mr. Holdren wrote: "Indeed, it has been concluded that compulsory population-control laws, even including laws requiring compulsory abortion, could be sustained under the existing Constitution if the population crisis became sufficiently severe to endanger the society."

In case compulsory abortion wasn't enough to diffuse his imaginary population bomb, Mr. Holdren and the Erlichs considered other extremist measures. "A program of sterilizing women after their second or third child, despite the relatively greater difficulty of the operation than vasectomy, might be easier to implement than trying to sterilize men," they wrote. "The development of a long-term sterilizing capsule that could be implanted under the skin and removed when pregnancy is desired opens additional possibilities for coercive fertility control."

It gets worse. The Holdren-Erlich book also promotes "Adding a sterilant to drinking water or staple foods."
It's hard for Democrats to plausibly accuse Republicans of scaremongering on the Hell Care debate when Dems keep pushing forward people like death doctors Emanuel and Holdren. Remember, Obama has invited us to understand where he is coming from by the associations he keeps in the White House. And these people are scary enough without any help from the Republicans!

Dems Bus in City ACORN/Union mob to Rural PA Town Hall

Dems have enough "plants" for an entire botanical garden!

Remember how we have been told that opponents of Obama's Hell Care plan are the result of "manufactured" outrage and that they don't really represent public opinion? Well, every day we get more and more examples of how the left is doing just that in an attempt to hoodwink an all too willing "news" media into believing that the country really does want a massive government takeover of health care.

When Senator Benedict Arlen Specter (DEMOCRAT-PA) showed up for a Town Hall meeting in rural western Pennsylvania on Thursday, he brought along some friends from the big city. He brought in three busloads of ACORN/Union rent a mobsters to make him feel at home.

The buses were organized and paid for by HCAN, a front group for big money liberals like George Soros. They proudly advertise their involvement on their web site.

So many people showed up that there was no room for all the locals, hundreds of whom gathered in the parking lot to voice their opinion:

PhotobucketI love the ACORN plant carrying the sign "Yelling is counter productive" while she screams "health care now!"

I thought the purpose of these Town Halls was to listen to the concerns of the local constituents, not some rent a mob bussed in from the big city to shout down opposition.

As it usually is with the left, if you can't win on the merits, lie about the issue or fake it!

Fake Doctor Gets Front Row Seat at Dem Town Hall Meeting

Funny how the Dems accuse opponents of Obama's Hell Care of being set up or paid when that is exactly what THEY are doing!

Remember the Town Hall meeting on health care held by Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (DEMOCRAT-TX) where she rudely talked on her cell phone instead of listening to the question of a real constituent? (video here)

Well, maybe Ms. Jackson Lee was on her phone asking her staff "where's that fake doctor you planted in here for me to call on."

Eventually, she found her. Right there in the front row center:

Ms. Jackson Lee embraces "doctor" Roxana Mayer, a "general practitioner" for the last four years. Except of course she's not. Mayer is a former Texas delegate for Obama, whose name is proudly listed on Obama's campaign web page.

What's more is that Mayer doesn't even live in Jackson Lee's district. I thought those Dems were going to crack down on that kind of thing? One wonders if Mayer will show up to vote for Jackson Lee in 2010 anyway. Why not? If you can fake being a doctor, why not fake being a voter?
Phony Doc is Friend of Obama Commie Lover

Also sitting in the front row, next to the phony doctor was Mayer's friend, Maria Isabel, who made a name for herself when she was photographed at an Obama campaign office in Houston sitting at a desk in front of a flag honoring Che Guevara, the famed communist mass murderer of Cuba.

Email the White House at flag@whitehouse.gov and tell them you found something REALLY FISHY going on at Cong. Lee's Town Hall. I'm sure they will be very interested in this disinformation. Right?

Pelosi: Shouting Match "O.K." and "Very American" When it Comes from the left!

This is a doozy:

"Franklin Roosevelt was a disruptor and I am a fan of distruptors."
Nothing more important than for a member of Congress to hear from his or her constituents.

That was House Speaker Nancy then. NOW, Pelosi attacks Americans who speak up at Town Hall meetings protesting Obama's HELL Care as "unAmerican."

These libs are such hypocritical liars and phonies!

A Reflective Friday

It's been quite a week. What with Obama's Hell Care plan scaring and scarring the nation and the sad news of the death of Flopping Aces contributor, Major Chris Galloway .

Here's a bit of soothing relief from the U.S. Air Force Band (downloads here). Their instrumental rendition of "America the Beautiful" is a relaxing and fitting end to the week.

Congressman Who Rejected Photo ID for Voting Requiring Photo ID for His Town Hall Meetings

You would think protecting against vote fraud would be more important than making sure an outsider doesn't ask you a tough question!

Congressman Eugene Green (DEMOCRAT-TX) obviously has different priorties.

It's IN the Bill: Dems Cannot Deny What We Can Read With Our Own Eyes!

Duke University Classics Professor analyzes key points in House health care "reform" bill!

John David Lewis, asks a series of questions about the House approved version of health care "reform." He then analyzes the relevant sections and makes his conclusion. I'm posting his questions and yes or no answers but recommend you read his full analysis for the bill language and additional analsysis.
  1. Will the plan ration health care? - Yes.
  2. Will the plan punish Americans who try to opt out? - Yes.
  3. Will the plan destroy private health insurance? - Yes.
  4. Does the plan allow the government to set fees for services? - Yes.
  5. Will the plan increase the power of government officials to scrutinize our private affairs? - Yes.
  6. Does the plan automatically enroll Americans in the government plan? - Yes.
  7. Does the plan exempt federal officials from court review? - Yes.

If you are attending a Town Hall meeting with your congressman, you may wish to print out Prof. Lewis's analysis and read a section or two to your congressman. Since most of them haven't read the House bill it will be news to them.

Also, recall that Democrats rejected Republican amendments to the bill in Committee which would have barred illegal aliens from receiving benefits, bar abortion funding, protect senior care, reign in frivolous law suits or require members of congress to join the same plan.

Remember, Democrats are telling you that you don't have the facts. What a laugh!

Grandma Got Run Over by Obama Care

It's a funny song, but the concerns Seniors have about the Dem plan are real!

Let's start today's health care post off on a lighter note. Here's Perry Nunley's revision of the Christmas classic: "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer." Sing along with me folks:

Grandma Got Run Over by Obama Care
O.K. now for the serious stuff: We've all heard the stories about how health care in Great Britain and Canada is long delayed for people with serious conditions. As I have said repeatedly, care delayed is care denied and the result is deadly.

Government Medicine Should Horrify Americans
By Deroy Murdock
Real Clear Politics
August 7, 2009

...Look what you're missing in the U.K.:

* Breast cancer kills 25 percent of its American victims. In Great Britain, the Vatican of single-payer medicine, breast cancer extinguishes 46 percent of its targets.

* Prostate cancer is fatal to 19 percent of its American patients. The National Center for Policy Analysis reports that it kills 57 percent of Britons it strikes.

* Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development data show that the U.K.'s 2005 heart-attack fatality rate was 19.5 percent higher than America's. This may correspond to angioplasties, which were only 21.3 percent as common there as here.

* The U.K.'s National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) just announced plans to cut its 60,000 annual steroid injections for severe back-pain sufferers to just 3,000. This should save the government 33 million pounds (about $55 million). "The consequences of the NICE decision will be devastating for thousands of patients," Dr. Jonathan Richardson of Bradford Hospitals Trust told London's Daily Telegraph. "It will mean more people on opiates, which are addictive, and kill 2,000 a year. It will mean more people having spinal surgery, which is incredibly risky, and has a 50 per cent failure rate."

* "Seriously ill patients are being kept in ambulances outside hospitals for hours so NHS trusts do not miss Government targets," Daniel Martin wrote last year in London's Daily Mail. "Thousands of people a year are having to wait outside accident and emergency departments because trusts will not let them in until they can treat them within four hours, in line with a Labour [party] pledge. The hold-ups mean ambulances are not available to answer fresh 911 calls. Doctors warned last night that the practice of ‘patient-stacking' was putting patients' health at risk."

Things don't look much better up north, under Canadian socialized medicine.

* Canada has one-third fewer doctors per capita than the OECD average. "The doctor shortage is a direct result of government rationing, since provinces intervened to restrict class sizes in major Canadian medical schools in the 1990s," Dr. David Gratzer, a Canadian physician and Manhattan Institute scholar, told the U.S. House Ways & Means Committee on June 24. Some towns address the doctor dearth with lotteries in which citizens compete for rare medical appointments.

* "In 2008, the average Canadian waited 17.3 weeks from the time his general practitioner referred him to a specialist until he actually received treatment," Pacific Research Institute president Sally Pipes, a Canadian native, wrote in the July 2 Investor's Business Daily. "That's 86 percent longer than the wait in 1993, when the [Fraser] Institute first started quantifying the problem."

* Such sloth includes a median 9.7-week wait for an MRI exam, 31.7 weeks to see a neurosurgeon, and 36.7 weeks - nearly nine months - to visit an orthopedic surgeon.

* Thus, Canadian supreme court justice Marie Deschamps wrote in her 2005 majority opinion in Chaoulli v. Quebec, "This case shows that delays in the public health care system are widespread, and that, in some cases, patients die as a result of waiting lists for public health care."

Obamacare proponents might argue that their health reforms are neither British nor Canadian, but just modest adjustments to America's system. This is false. The public option - for which Democrats lust - would fuel an elephantine $1.5 trillion overhaul of this life-and-death industry. Having Uncle Sam in the room while negotiating drug prices and hospital reimbursement rates will be like sitting beside Warren Buffett at an art auction. Guess who goes home with the goodies?
All kidding aside, government medicine has proved an excruciating disaster in the U.K. and Canada. Our allies' experiences with this dreadful idea should horrify rather than inspire everyday Americans, not to mention seemingly blind Democratic politicians.
I too hear our Dem friends tell us that Obama Care won't be as bad as the Canadian or British system. But what do they base that on? What government program has EVER worked better and at lower cost than the private sector? It would take an enormous leap of faith to trust Obama and the Dems now after we have already seen Obama discard the fig leaf of being a centrist who would govern as a post partisan, post racial president.

Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. Only a fool would believe that this time Obama will deliver on the promises he has made. A leopard cannot change it's spots anymore than a liberal will stop believing the lie that big government socialism does anything better than the private sector.

Pelosi Encouraged Left Wing Disruptions

It's only ordinary citizens that she thinks are "unAmerican."

In response to the editorial by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi claiming that protesters at Town Hall meetings opposing Obama's takeover of health care are "unAmerican" Crush Liberalism found that Nancy has a different view when it comes to left wing protesters.

When Code Pink anti-war loons were disrupting Pelosi's Town Hall meetings she said:
  • “It’s always exciting...This is democracy in action. I’m energized by it, frankly.” (January 2006)
  • “I always say the best preparation for combat is combat...So just go for it, Instead of fighting with us, which is your right to do, let’s work together.”” (June 2007)I respect your enthusiasm.... Photobucket

And let's not forget how tolerant Democrats in Congress were to the multiple disruptions of hearings with Bush Administration officials by Code Pink circus freaks.

Somehow, that activity was patriotic and encouraged. But Real Americans voicing their concerns about the Dems health care plan? You are unAmerican!

A year from now when the 2010 congressional elections are ramping up, let's remind our friends and family of just what the Democrats think of them!

Dems Newest Jobs Program: They are PAYING Supporters of Their Health Care Plan

Talk about "manufactured outrage!" These people could give the right lessons in how to do it!

Thanks "Missy" for passing this along:

Now is our chance to make health care work.

America’s health care system is broken. Health care costs are spiraling out of control, throwing families, businesses and government into financial crisis. Families are worried their health coverage won’t be there when they need it. Our country can’t afford to wait for health reform that keeps costs down and protects consumers.

We can’t wait for affordable, dependable health care.

We’re fighting for health care that will protect families’ financial health, lay out a clear path for all Americans to afford health care, and improve patient safety and quality care.

You can work for change this summer.
Join motivated staff around the country working to make change happen. You can make great friends and money along the way. Earn $4000-$6000 this summer.

Hmmm... And Democrats are accusing Republicans of ramping up phony, "manufactured outrage" to oppose their plan to take over health care? I don't know about my readers but I haven't gotten a check from the evil insurance companies or anyone else to pay me to oppose Obama's plans.

The bright side of this is that the Dem's money is largely wasted. As we saw with ACORN's effort to register voters, they paid people who went out and copied names from the phone book. So, if you want to get your kid a summer job learning how to commit fraud, here's your chance.

What I want to know is whether any of the groups supporting this effort are receiving federal grants from the taxpayers that might subsidize this effort?

Thanks also to Sweetness and Light!

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Attacks Health Care Opponents As "UnAmerican"

This divisive woman who should speak for all Americans has revealed she only represents the left!

In a damnable joint editorial with House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) the House Speaker said:

'Un-American' attacks can't derail health care debate
By Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer
USA Today
August 10, 2009

...[I]t is now evident that an ugly campaign is underway not merely to misrepresent the health insurance reform legislation, but to disrupt public meetings and prevent members of Congress and constituents from conducting a civil dialogue. These tactics have included hanging in effigy one Democratic member of Congress in Maryland and protesters holding a sign displaying a tombstone with the name of another congressman in Texas, where protesters also shouted "Just say no!" drowning out those who wanted to hold a substantive discussion.

Let the facts be heard

These disruptions are occurring because opponents are afraid not just of differing views — but of the facts themselves. Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American. Drowning out the facts is how we failed at this task for decades.
This month, despite the disruptions, members of Congress will listen to their constituents back home and explain reform legislation. We are confident that our principles of affordable, quality health care will stand up to any and all critics.

Now — with Americans strongly supporting health insurance reform, with Congress reaching consensus on a plan, and with a president who ran and won on this specific promise of change — America is closer than ever to this century-deferred goal.

This fall, at long last, we must reach it.
Sounds to me like Democrats have already made up their minds on health care "insurance" reform (notice the change from earlier health care reform) and are now attempting to "explain" their decision rather than "listen" to their constituents.

Pelosi and Hoyer also claimed that their plan will bring "lower costs, better care." Just how they expect to do that while covering millions more people, mostly illegal aliens and providing taxpayer funded abortions, is never explained. But we know the answer: they must cut back or delay urgent care for senior citizens. Care delayed is care denied!

Since When Did Opposition Become UnAmerican?

The most egregious slur against the character of the American people was made by the Speaker and Mr. Hoyer when they charged that Americans with real concerns about a massive and expensive government takeover of health care are somehow "unAmerican."

Why is it that Democrats are so free to bandy about that word and yet get so very worked up by even the hint of a suggestion that they might be behaving in a similar fashion? We recall the words of Hillary Clinton during the Bush years when any criticism of their anti-war protests inspired this kind of outburst:

"I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and disagree with this administration, somehow you're not patriotic. We need to stand up and say we're Americans, and we have the right to debate and disagree with any administration!"
--Hillary Clinton, April 2003
Pelosi's use of the loaded word "unAmerican" reveals that Democrats are fully prepared to double down on their own harsh and divisive rhetoric and attack average Americans who feel their concerns regarding health care reform are being ignored. With polls running strongly against the Democrat's plan that puts them at odds with more and more Americans every day.

And with President Obama declaring that those who oppose the Dem's plan should shut up, it would be easier to conclude that it is Obama and the Dems acting "unAmerican" according to Pelosi's own definition.

I hope that by the time the Congressional elections in 2010 roll around, Americans will remember what Pelosi, Obama and other Democrats think of them.

Dems Health Care Plan is Death for Senior Citizens

Seniors: are you worth the cost of health care?

A new ad from the 60 Plus Association:

Don't forget that one of Obama's health advisors is Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, the brother of White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel. Dr. Emanuel has made it quite clear that he believes in witholding care from the elderly for the greater good of helping the young (which in the Democrat's plans includes illegal immigrants and paying for abortions).

WHO is Lying About Health Care?

The "disinformation" is coming from Obama and the Dems!

Our friend Skye posted this at her home world Midnight Blue, and it's well worth sharing:

When they don't think you are paying attention, Obama and the Dems tell their friends what their real goals are: a government run health care system which "eliminates" the private sector. It will mean rationed care. Care delayed is care denied!

P.S. They will continue to exempt themselves from the monstrosity they force on the rest of us.

The People's Cube Comes Up with New Posters for Obama's Reich

And a Mike's America original rounds out the show!

With Obama setting up a White House unit to promote domestic spying on political opponents and telling those who oppose his plans for a radical takeover of America's health care to shut up while sending his union goon squads out to enforce the order I knew it was just a matter of time before our comrades in the red brigades at the People's Cube would get into the act:

Union Thugs Assault Black Conservative Outisde Dem Town Hall Forum in St. Louis

Welcome to Obama's Reich!

With Obama instructing his supporters to "get in" our face and demanding that we stay silent in opposing his plan for a federal takeover of healthcare, it's no surprise that his bought and paid for union thugs, who have already been handsomely rewarded by Obama's use of taxpayer funds from the stimulus program, would take it to the next level.

This is the kind of thing that happened in Nazi Germany:

Gateway Pundit has a follow up story with a letter from the attorney representing Mr. Kenneth Gladney, the black conservative who was attacked while handing out the classic flag "Don't Tread on Me." Mr. Gladney's injuries were serious enough that he required treatment in a nearby Emergency Room. Fortunately, he did not have to wait for government permission before receiving care.

There are many examples of Union Thugs denying freedom of speech to fellow citizens. One example in particular illustrates the vicious mindset of these paid goons:

In 2004, three year old Sophia Parlock sat on her father's shoulders holding up a Bush Cheney sign at an airport event for then presidential candidate John Kerry. Members of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades began taunting the Parlocks and one goon tore the sign from Sophia's young hands and handed the ripped camapign sign back to her (remnants of the sign are clearly visible in the goons hands while fellow Union goons shout abuse).

This is the kind of behavior you can expect from Democrats who are now complaining about the lack of civility in the forums on health care!
