Charles Krauthammer's Excellent Summation of Sestak Bribe

Charles nailed the "Clintonian response" from the White House!

If you want a quick catchup on the latest key issues raised by the allegations of a White House bribe of Congressman Joe Sestak, spend a few minutes with Charles Krauthammer. From Friday's panel discussion on Fox News Special Report:

The White House statement on Sestak Gate is here. It is a very well crafted document, but as Krauthammer points out it's even more interesting for what it does NOT say.

From the statement: "Efforts were made in June and July of 2009 to determine whether Congressman Sestak would be interested in service on a Presidential or other Senior Executive Branch Advisory Board." Later: "White House staff did not discuss these options with Congressman Sestak. The White House Chief of Staff enlisted the support of former President Clinton who agreed to raise with Congressman Sestak options of service."

Bill Clinton has thus far refused to answer any questions about the Sestak affair. The WH hints at multiple contacts. Is it believable that Bill Clinton temporarily become Sestak's best buddy? It's interesting to note that Clinton had lunch with Obama the day before the statement was released. You can guess what the topic of conversation was.

The White House statement raises more questions than answers. Questions which can only be answered by the appointment of an independent investigator. Surely, if the White House has nothing to hide they will welcome this move.

Happy Memorial Day!

It's not just picnics or a day at the beach!

Memorial Day started as what was called "Decoration Day" to remember the 600,000 Americans who died during the Civil War. People would decorate the graves of the dead and honor their memory. [history of the holiday here.]

Later on, it became an unofficial start to summer with many people focusing not on honoring war dead, but on having a holiday with their families. But the traditions of the original holiday live on.

David Matthews of Pack 308 places a flag on a grave at Zachary Taylor National Cemetery May 26, 2007 in Louisville, Kentucky. Boy Scouts from the Seneca District and the Lincoln Heritage Council, which represents the Louisville area, participated in the flag placing. This was the 25th year that scouts have been placing flags on the graves at the cemetery.
My hope is that while families are out enjoying the holiday they will also reflect for a time on the sacrifice by our fallen soldiers that makes their lives of relative ease and prosperity possible. Many words have been written and spoken to express the debt we owe these men and women. None better than Abraham Lincoln in his Gettysburg Address. Offered below is a reading of Lincoln's short, moving speech by actor Sam Waterston. Also included is the Battle Hymn of the Republic and America the Beautiful provided by the U.S. Air Force Band.

A more contemporary and equally moving reminder of what this holiday means comes from President Reagan's tribute on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the D Day invasion of France in World War II. The President spoke at the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial. Reagan tells the story of Private Robert Zanatta, of the 37th Engineer Combat Battalion. Private Zanatta was part of the first assault wave that hit the beach that morning 65 years ago. The story is based on a letter sent to the President by Zanatta's daughter Lisa. Cue the video to the 6:32 mark for the emotional conclusion:

PRESIDENT REAGAN: Lisa Zanatta Henn began her story by quoting her father, who promised that he would return to Normandy. She ended with a promise to her father, who died 8 years ago of cancer: ``I'm going there, Dad, and I'll see the beaches and the barricades and the monuments. I'll see the graves, and I'll put flowers there just like you wanted to do. I'll feel all the things you made me feel through your stories and your eyes. I'll never forget what you went through, Dad, nor will I let anyone else forget. And, Dad, I'll always be proud.''
Taking our remembrance into the 21st Century, we have the Pulitzer Prize winning series "Final Salute" which ran in the Rocky Mountain News in 2005. Reporter Jim Sheeler and photographer Todd Heisler spent a year with the Marines stationed at Aurora's Buckley Air Force Base who have found themselves called upon to notify families of the deaths of their sons in Iraq. It's a sad but moving tribute to our fallen soldiers and a reminder of the toll their deaths take on their families.

Obama's "Gilligan's Island" Tour of Oil Spill

Obama as Gilligan and George Soros as the Skipper!

Obama took a "three hour tour" of the oil spill in the Gulf today as a break in his Memorial Day vaction in Chicago. The trip reminds some of another "three hour tour" which seems to have about the seriousness of Obama's diversion on Air Force One.

What a shame the Professor wasn't on board Air Force One to offer the manchild President some tips on leadership!

White House Set to Blame Bill Clinton for Sestak Bribe

Does Obama EVER Take Responsibility for ANYTHING?

It's bad enough Obama blames former President Bush for nearly everything that goes wrong in Obama's Administration. Now, it appears he's set to blame Bill Clinton.

The head's up coming from the Washington Post's Greg Sargent is that the White House will release a statement later today placing former President Clinton at the center of the controversy.

Already, this scandal has taken on Clintonian proportions with statements coming from the White House reminiscent of "depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is."

With the involvement of former President Clinton, and reportedly White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, it's all the more important to name a Special Prosecutor.

Do you suppose Ken Starr is available?

Obama's Recycled Rhetoric is No Substitute for Leadership!

Teleprompters don't govern!

First Obama press conference today since July 2009 and while Obama said he took full responsibility for the government's inaction to the oil spill disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, he still found a way to blame the problem on George Bush. Then, there was this:

OBAMA: "My job right now is just to make sure that everybody in the Gulf understands, this is what I wake to in the morning and this is what I go to bed at night thinking about."
Bret Baeir's Political Grapevine noticed that Obama's said nearly the same words before....

Earlier this year the White House press secretary said President Obama: "Wakes up in the morning and he goes to bed at night thinking about how to make people's lives better — how to create that environment for creating jobs..."

About national security, marking 9/11 last year, the president said: "My greatest responsibility is the security of the American people. It's the first thing I think about when I wake up in the morning. It's the last thing I think about when I go to sleep at night."

The president used a similar line about protecting Americans multiple times last year.
Just like Obama told people in California he "will not rest" until the oil spill is stopped, just before he went out to play basketball, he also repeatedly has said he "will not rest" until Americans are able to return to work just before going out to play golf.

On Friday, Obama is off to the Gulf of Mexico on the way to his Memorial Day vacation (since he won't be in Washington to lay the President's traditional wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Solider). Perhaps while he is in the Gulf region he'll remind everyone of the words he spoke upon clinching the Dem nomination in 2008: "this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal." He spoke those words right before saying he would end the war in Iraq in 16 months. How'd that work out?

As many of us warned throughout the 2008 presidential campaign words spoken off a teleprompter mean little if the man or woman behind those words doesn't have the experience or ability to get those goals accomplished. The case of the oil spill disaster is illuminating Obama's incompetence to the point where even Democrats see it plainly.

This from Democrat Kirsten Powers writing in the New York Post:

...The political firestorm kept growing yesterday, with supporter James Carville ranting that the administration has been "lackadaisical" and "naive" in its response to the disaster. He urged it to rapidly "move to Plan B."

But that suggests there was ever a Plan A.
a Democratic president who's embracing drilling ought to know the risks, and be prepared for the worst. But rather than planning for a spill, Obama parroted McCain-Palin talking points about how safe offshore drilling is.

Turns out the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration back in 1994 drafted plans for responding to a major Gulf oil spill, a response called "In-Situ Burn."

Ron Gourget, a former federal oil-spill-response coordinator and one author of the draft, told the Times of London: "The whole reason the plan was created was so that we could pull the trigger right away." The idea was to use barriers called "fire booms" to collect and contain the spill at sea -- then burn it off. He believes this could have captured 95 percent of the oil from this spill.

But at the time of the Deepwater Horizon explosion, the federal government didn't have a single fire boom on hand. Nor is there any evidence that the government required BP to have any clear plan to deal with a massive spill. How is this OK?

The administration's chief response so far was to send out Interior Secretary Ken Salazar to do his best impersonation of a totalitarian thug, proclaiming that the government would "have its boot on the throat of BP."
Obama Ignores Call for Action and Offers of Help!

At Thursday's White House press conference Jake Tapper of ABC News asked this question:

You say that everything that could be done is being done, but there are those in the region and those industry experts who say that’s not true. Governor Jindal obviously had this proposal for a barrier. They say that if that had been approved when they first asked for it, they would have 10 miles up already. There are fishermen down there who want to work, who want to help, haven’t been trained, haven’t been told to go do so. There are industry experts who say that they’re surprised that tankers haven’t been sent out there to vacuum, as was done in ’93 outside Saudi Arabia. And then, of course, there’s the fact that there are 17 countries that have offered to help and it’s only been accepted from two countries, Norway and Mexico. How can you say that everything that can be done is being done with all these experts and all these officials saying that’s not true?
Obama's answer isn't important. It's more of the blameshifting and double talk that are common when he's off the teleprompter.
Meanwhile, Governor Bobby Jindal (R-LA) has had it with waiting for the federal government to act. His Homeland Security Director, Deano Bonano ordered local officials to commandeer 40 boats which were intended to fight the oil spill but were found sitting idle last Saturday.

Will empty words, repeated over and over finally wear thin with the voters? From the looks of Wednesday's record low in the Rasmussen approval gap for Obama it would appear that the voter's feel the time for talk is past.

Obama's Environmental Disaster!

Katrina in slow motion!

Oil, now mixed with mud intended to block the leak continues to spew from the pipeline at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico. See the live video feed here.

Over a month of oil spilling into the Gulf has causing untold environmental damage. How much longer will this spill meter continue to run?

Meanwhile, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal(R) has stepped into the power vacuum left by the incompetent Obama Administration and organized local clean up efforts. Earlier this month he mobilized over 1,100 National Guardsmen to fight the oil slicks which are destroying vital wetlands along the Lousiana coast. Unlike distant federal officials, Jindal has been on the scene most days personally overseeing the effort to combat the spill. His frustration with federal efforts is clear:
JINDAL: “On Sunday, we gathered here in Plaquemines with coastal parish leaders to take matters into our own hands and fill the void in the response efforts. Today– we are back in Plaquemines, continuing the fight to protect our coast and our way of life from the oil that continues to spill into the Gulf.

“We have been fighting this oil for over a month now, requesting resources and too often finding the response to be too little, too late.

We have been frustrated with the disjointed effort to date that has too often meant too little too late to stop the oil from hitting our coast. We need folks in each basin that can mobilize resources quickly to contain oil when it arrives, not wait 24 hours or 48 hours. BP is the Responsible Party but we need the federal government to make sure they are held accountable and that they are indeed responsible. Our way of life depends on it. The actions taken to respond to this oil today are determining the future of our state.”
Jindal has still received no response from the Obama Administration for a plan to bring in sand to block the spread of oil to sensitive marsh areas.

Contrast Jindal's active hands on response to Mayor Nagin of New Orleans who left the cities school buses to be flooded rather than use them to implement the cities own evacuation plan in the face of Hurricane Katrina.

And what is Obama doing that is so important he doesn't have time to personally oversee the federal efforts (the BP well sits in federal waters, unlike New Orleans during Katrina, the well is the Feds primary responsibility):

Obama might be able to read a teleprompter and play hoops. But he couldn't run a 7-Eleven let alone the United States!

Rush Limbaugh's Victory Over Obama

Obama failed to divide the GOP by using Rush Limbaugh as a scapegoat!

Remember when Obama first came to Washington and tried to suck up to elite inside the beltway moderate conservatives? It was part of a two pronged strategy to divide the GOP opposition where Obama tried to peel off more centrist GOP types while bashing solid conservatives like Rush Limbaugh. Obama and his allies tried to make Rush Limbaugh the face and voice of the GOP in hopes of shaming the moderates into disowning him and causing disunity at a time when GOP morale was at an all time low.

Rush came out early on and said of Obama "I hope he fails" in his bid to remake America as a socialist state. Rush never wavered from that view. Instead, the moderate GOP types who got sucked into the Obama orbit quickly realized Rush was right.

When Obama forced through one partisan vote after another on issues like the economy and health care and now financial regulation the moderates realized they had been lied to. Obama was what Rush said he was all along: a Chicago thug liberal.

The truth about Obama is so obvious now that even liberal GOP Senator Susan Collins of Maine personally chided Obama for his divisive partisanship in a closed door meeting with GOP Senators last Tuesday.

First Chapter of New Book on Rush

In July 2008, Zev Chafets wrote an excellent feature for the New York Times called "Late Period Limbaugh" which is still available on the NYTimes web site. It was one of the few fair portrayals of Rush Limbaugh to appear in the liberal media and Chafets' positive treatment of Rush may have lead the radio talk show host to cooperate with Chafets on a new book out this week titled "Rush Limbaugh, an Army of One"

The New York Times also offers the first chapter of Chafets' book for Rush fans. That chapter closes with the gravity of Rush's decision to take on President Obama: "you don’t take on the most powerful man in the world lightly — but Limbaugh was prepared to take those risks. 'This is my destiny,' he told his audience. 'This is what I was born to do.'"

Obama made Rush the voice and face of the GOP. If things go according to plan and the GOP wins big this November, we will have Rush (and Obama) to thank for it!

Obama's Redistribution of Wealth is Strangling the Economy

He's killing the goose that lays the golden egg just like Greece!

PhotobucketPrivate pay shrinks to historic lows as gov't payouts rise
By Dennis Cauchon
May 25, 2010

Paychecks from private business shrank to their smallest share of personal income in U.S. history during the first quarter of this year, a USA TODAY analysis of government data finds.

At the same time, government-provided benefits — from Social Security, unemployment insurance, food stamps and other programs — rose to a record high during the first three months of 2010.

Those records reflect a long-term trend accelerated by the recession and the federal stimulus program to counteract the downturn. The result is a major shift in the source of personal income from private wages to government programs.

The trend is not sustainable, says University of Michigan economist Donald Grimes. Reason: The federal government depends on private wages to generate income taxes to pay for its ever-more-expensive programs. Government-generated income is taxed at lower rates or not at all, he says. "This is really important," Grimes says.
Economist Veronique de Rugy of the free-market Mercatus Center at George Mason University says the riots in Greece over cutting benefits to close a huge budget deficit are a warning about unsustainable income programs.

Economist David Henderson of the conservative Hoover Institution says a shift from private wages to government benefits saps the economy of dynamism. "People are paid for being rather than for producing," he says.
And what will Obama's plan be when his unsustainable spending generates yet another fiscal crisis? Why, more big government spending of course! Never let a crisis go to waste as they say in Obama land!

Dick Morris Outlines Possible GOP Takeover of US Senate in 2010

It would be great to boot Nancy Pelosi from the Speaker's Chair in the House and even sweeter to boot Harry Reid and the Dems from control of the Senate!

First, a cautionary note. Let's not get too overconfident about winning big in November. All indicators are that the Independents who fueled Dem victories in 2006 and 2008 are swinging back to the GOP which would make it a big year for Republicans. But we'll have to fight and fight even harder to achieve the goals of taking the house and perhaps even the Senate.

But Dick Morris sees a way open to take the Senate. With a good bet we can win at least 8 seats we'd need only two more to take control. In his post here, Morris describes that scenario in detail. States Morris thinks are good for GOP pickups include: Connecticut, Wisconsin, Washington, Delaware, North Dakota, Indiana, Illinois, Arkansas, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Colorado and California.

That's a total of 12 states with good GOP chances this fall. We only need ten to take control of the Senate.

Hard work and a commitment by conservatives and Republicans nationwide to fund challengers in these states will make the difference.

Is Senate Cand. Sestak (D-PA) Lying About Bribe or Did WH Break the Law?

If Sestak is lying he should be disqualified for the Senate. If someone at the White House offered him a bribe to stay out of Senate race, they broke the law.

That's really the only two ways to look at this story. The White House made it clear they did not want Joe Sestak to run in the primary against Senator Arlen Specter. Sestak has repeatedly claimed that he was offered a high level job if he were to drop out of the race which he won in last week's Pennsylvania primary.

Sestak was asked about the controversy this past Sunday on Meet the Press and reaffirmed that an offer was made:

Sestak refuses to say what the job was or who at the White House offered it to him. Earlier this year, Robert Gibbs, White House press spokesman, repeatedly tried to stonewall the matter hoping reporters would drop it. Finally this Monday David Axelrod, Obama's chief strategist said that the matter had been looked into and that "nothing inappropriate happened." He refused to give any details and quickly changed the subject.

Something smells fishy here doesn't it? Either Sestak was offered a job, in which case it could be a violation of federal law or he wasn't offered a job and is lying about it. If "nothing inappropriate happened" why won't the White House come forward and describe the contacts staffers had with Sestak to get him out of the race with Specter? And if any serious cabinet level job offer was considered it would have to have been made with the full knowledge and assent of the President.

Readers may recall the absolute frenzy and firestorm that broke out during the Bush Administration when it was falsely claimed that Karl Rove or other senior White House staff might have outted CIA agent Valerie Plame. No one was ever charged with violating the law against disclosing covert CIA agents, not even Richard Armitage at the State Dept. who actually leaked her name. There was no charge for violating that law because Ms. Plame did not meet the standards in the law defining a covert CIA agent. But that didn't stop the Special Prosecutor from going forward with a full investigation of top White House officials.

There is ample law covering this subject:

Title 18, U.S.C. Section 211 says, “Whoever solicits or receives, either as a political contribution or for personal emolument, any money or thing of value, in consideration of the promise of support or use of influence in obtaining for any person any appointive office or place under the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year or both.”

Title 18, U.S.C. Section 595, which says, “Whoever, being a person employed in any administrative position by the United States … uses his official authority for the purposes of interfering with, or affecting the nomination of, or the election of any candidate for office of President, Vice President, Presidential elector, Member of the Senate, Member of the House of Representative…shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.”

Title 18 U.S.C. Section 600, which says, “Whoever directly or indirectly promises any employment position, compensation, contract, appointment, or other benefit provided for or made possible in whole or in part by any Act of Congress, or any special consideration in obtaining any such benefit, to any person as consideration, in favor, or reward for any political activity or for the support of or opposition to any candidate or any political party in connection with any general or special election to any political office … shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.”
Readers will also recall how former Obama buddy and former Governor of Illinois, Rod Blagojevitch was indicted on multiple counts of corruption, including the attempt to sell the Senate seat vacated by Obama after he was elected President.

U.S. District Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald, who was the Special Prosecutor in the Valerie Plame case is also the lead attorney prosecuting Blagojevitch. He might the ideal man to serve as Special Prosecutor investigating whether laws were broken in the Sestak affair.

One wonders how long a President that championed transparency and openness during the presidential election can continue to stonewall and evade a full and complete accounting of White House activity with Sestak. Clearly someone here is lying.

Ultimately, the question is: what did Obama know and when did he know it?

17 States and Counting Move to Adopt Arizona Style Immigration Law

PhotobucketThis despite the campaign of lies, fear and racebaiting coming directly from the President of the United States!

With poll after poll after poll showing overwhelming majorities of voters support Arizona's new immigration law and expressing concern (Rasmussen, Gallup) about illegal immigration it's no wonder that legislatures in other states, whose representatives are much more attuned to the will of the people than Democrats in Washington are moving to replicate the Arizona law.

Americans for Legal Immigration PAC have put together a list of 17 states currently considering similar measures.

ALI-PAC is tracking progress at each state on this issue at their forum.

Obama's big lie on immigration, like his big lie on health care and much more isn't winning the hearts and minds of the American people. Exactly the opposite is happening!

Republican Wins First Congressional Seat in Hawaii in 20 Years!

Congressional district of Obama's boyhood home!

How's that for a referendum on Obama and the Democrats?

From the Honolulu Star Bulletin:

Republican Charles Djou emerged victorious tonight in the special election to fill Hawaii's vacancy in Congress, giving Hawaii it's first GOP member of Congress in 20 years.
“This is a momentous day,” Djou told a jubilant crowd at state party headquarters. “We have sent a message to the United States Congress. We have sent a message to the ex-governors. We have sent a message to the national Democrats! We have sent a message to the machine.

“We have told them that we will not stand idly by as our great nation is overburdened by too much taxes, too much debt and too much wasteful spending.”

Djou is Hawaii's first GOP member of Congress since Pat Saiki, who represented the party from 1987 to 1991.
The Dems might have pulled out a win in the special election in Pennsylvania by running a candidate who falsely claims to be a conservative. In Hawaii, voters got something closer to the real deal.

Only 39 seats left to take before we boot Nancy Pelosi from the Speaker's Chair!

Obama Lied, People Died

This week mark's Obama's 16th month in office and despite his solemn pledge, we STILL have combat troops in Iraq!

Question: Is there ONE campaign promise Obama has kept? One of the central pillars of his presidential campaign was a solemn vow to end the war in Iraq and bring the troops home. Obama may have hedged all over the place on exactly how he would make the withdrawal, but all during the campaign he repeatedly insisted he would bring U.S. combat troops home within 16 months after taking office.

Well, this week marked Obama's 16th month in office and U.S. combat troops are STILL in Iraq!

Will the lefties who spit rhetorical poison at President Bush for eight years "Bush lied us into war," now turn on the man who vowed he would end that war by now? Or, will these same lefties give Obama a pass and reveal once again that they really don't stand on moral principles, only a pursuit of political power?

Meanwhile, news during this anniversary week has been flooded with Obama, maligning the Arizona immigration law and fanning the flames of racial and ethnic discord by planting the false idea that the Arizona bill will lead to racial profiling. What a convenient way to keep people from noticing the news about Iraq.

In Obama land, one big lie is used to cover up another big lie. And in Iraq, the killing continues!

Left Wing Fascists Given Police Escort to Threaten Civil Rights of Opponents

SEIU Union thugs get DC Police escort to home invasion in neighboring Maryland!

Is it any wonder that head of this thug union is one of Obama's most frequent White House visitors?

Lately (since his poll numbers tanked) Obama has been complaining about the shrill nature of political discourse and expressed concern that overheated rhetoric could lead to violence.

Does he have any concern about the mobs unleashed by his union allies?

Last weekend, 500 union thugs were given a police escort by the Washington, DC Metro Police to the home of a Bank of America executive in a nearby Maryland suburb.

Here's the proud union video of the thugocracy at work on the doorstep of the Bank executive. According to Archy Cary at Big Journalism "The primary role of the Washington cops in this event was to protect the protesters."

Nina Easton reports that the bank executive was not home at the time. Instead, his son, a teenage boy was terrorized by the invasion:

Waving signs denouncing bank "greed," hordes of invaders poured out of 14 school buses, up Baer's steps, and onto his front porch. As bullhorns rattled with stories of debtor calls and foreclosed homes, Baer's teenage son Jack -- alone in the house -- locked himself in the bathroom. "When are they going to leave?" Jack pleaded when I called to check on him.
Imagine for the moment what the reaction would be if police escorted a group of Tea Partiers to protest outside the home of liberals supporting Obama's agenda. You and I know that it would be a major scandal.

But news of union thugs scaring private citizens, let alone a teenage boy, passes by with barely a whimper!

Welcome to Obama's fascism! Your rights mean nothing!

Mexico Racially Profiles Immigrants and Asks for Papers!

But the Mexican President lectures the U.S. on our border control?

Mexican President Felipe Calderon was in Washington for a big dog and pony show with Obama this week. The visit included a State Visit to the White House where he, along with Obama, slammed the new Arizona law permitting law enforcement officers to check the immigration status of those stopped for other reasons. Later, Calderon gave a speech to a joint session of Congress where he said the Arizona law could lead to "racial profiling as a basis for law enforcement." House Democrats and Obama cabinet officials stood and cheered.

On CNN, Wolf Blitzer interviewed Calderon and asked about Mexico's own immigration law which Calderon insists has been softened. But listen carefully starting at the 1:20 mark:

BLITZER: Do Mexican police go around asking for papers of people they suspect are illegal immigrants?

CALDERON: Of course! Of course!

BLITZER: If somebody sneaks in from Nicaragua or some other country in Central America through the southern border of Mexico and they wind up in Mexico, they can going get a job?

CALDERON: No, no, no.

BLITZER: They can work?

CALDERON: If somebody do that without permissions, we send -- we send back them.
Mexico is using the United States as a dumping ground to get rid of the poor people that failed socialist state is unable to care for and has the nerve to complain we are engaging in human rights violations when they do far worse to illegal immigrants in Mexico!

That's bad enough. But what is worse are the Democrats in the U.S. House who stood and cheered as a state in our union was maligned with lies about racial profiling. Is it that Democrats hate their own country that much that they willfully join in this offensive farce?

We are truly living in dangerous times when a lie becomes the truth spread by a government propaganda machine!

Rats Leaving a Sinking Ship?

PhotobucketWhite House rodent interrupts Presidential "no news" conference!

Forgive the "cheesy" headline, but this was too much fun to pass up.

A vole, a small rodent, runs in front of President Barack Obama as he delivers remarks on Wall Street and Financial reform, Thursday, May 20, 2010, in the Rose Garden of the White House in Washington.

It's interesting to note that in all these press availabilities Obama has had recently, he has answered very few, if any questions. Reporters are starting to get a little testy about the lack of accountability.

It would seem there is more than one mouse in the White House!

A Monkey Could Do a Better Job Predicting Hurricanes.... And Global Warming?

Funny video takes on know-nothing weather experts!

For the last several years the "scientists" at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration have been trying to scare us into thinking that global warming will cause more and stronger hurricanes. Just one problem: nearly every year they are wrong. NOAA is about ready to launch yet another of their hurricane predictions and it's likely they'll follow the same formula to scare people once again.

The National Center for Public Policy Research shows that a chimpanzee stands just as good a chance at the guess work than the big brains at NOAA. The Center names their chimp "Dr. James Hansimiam" to mock NASA "scientist" and global warming blowhard Dr. James Hansen whose wild predictions about global warming over the last twenty years have been shown to be nothing short of a fraud and a farce!

Now, all we need is a pig named "Al Gore" and we could do a series of these videos!

AZ: Illegal Immigrants Rounded up in Animal Torture Rooster Fight

Does the left still think it's wrong to enforce immigration law?

MCSO Busts Cockfighting Ring; Nearly 70 Arrested
KSAZ Phoenix, AZ
Monday, 17 May 2010

TONOPAH, Ariz. - An illegal cockfighting ring was busted in the west valley and Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is not taking this animal cruelty lightly.

The fights were held in Tonopah, near 385th Avenue and Southern. Nearly 70 people were arrested, including 20 suspected illegal aliens.

"We do not give tickets out, we arrest them and put them in handcuffs, book them into our jail when they violate animal cruelty laws. I don't care if it's against dogs, cats, horses, roosters or what have you." Arpaio said.

All of the suspects were booked for being present at a cockfight - a class one misdemeanor.

The Sheriff's office also says guns and drugs were found at the property.

Obama worried that illegals might be rounded up while taking their kids out for ice cream. Is he also concerned they might be rounded up for betting on animal cruelty? What about rounding up illegals involved in kidnapping, drug smuggling and gang violence?

AZ Gov. Jan Brewer Spanks Obama

Brewer for President in 2012?

You don't see a sitting governor spank a president like this very often. What a treat!

(NECN: Phoenix, Ariz.) - In launching a Web site [Secure the Border.org] aimed at educating the United States on Arizona's controversial illegal immigration law, Governor Jan Brewer (R-Ariz.) took umbrage with the president's joke at the recent White House Correspondents' Dinner.

The event is an opportunity for its speakers to make light of politics, and President Barack Obama did so with Arizona's immigration law:

"We all know what happens in Arizona when you don't have ID -- adios, amigos."

It was this joke which became the target of Gov. Brewer's address regarding new steps the state government is taking to promote the law on a national level.

"It's fair to ask whether he intends to be the Commander-in-Chief or the Comic-in-Chief," Gov. Brewer said. "Since the president's joke was so inappropriate, I suppose, if I wanted to join in the comedian game, I could suggest that he should not give up his day job."

"Unfortunately, though, he isn't doing very well at that one, either," she added as her punchline. In the context of the Correspondents' Dinner, Mr. Obama's joke may not be seen by some as "so inappropriate." Gov. Brewer does not see the issue of border security as a joking matter, regardless of context.

With the signing of its immigration bill into law, Arizona has taken matters into its own hands after what is seen by Gov. Brewer as a failure by the federal government to secure the state's border with Mexico. Drug trafficking, violence and illegal immigration crossing into the United States from Mexico is a major concern for the state.

"While the president is making wisecracks and playing racial politics, some groups have suggested that Arizona be punished for enforcing laws that our federal government has failed to enforce -- that is misguided at best," Gov. Brewer said.

She suggested those that wish to boycott Arizona businesses -- Boston, Los Angeles, etc. -- visit the state to witness firsthand the conditions that produced the law.

"Our purpose today is to help the rest of the nation understand the crisis which confronts our state," Gov. Brewer. "Our nation's government is broken, our border is being erased and the president apparently considers it a wonderful opportunity to divide people along racial lines for his personal political convenience."
Meanwhile, Obama's Aunt Zeituni,an illegal alien from Kenya who was ordered deported in 2004 received amnesty today and permission to stay in the United States. No wonder we can't control the borders. We coddle every illegal!

Eric Holder: The Most Imbecilic, Politicized Attorney General in Decades

He actually makes Nixon Attorney General John Mitchell look good by comparison!

The Attorney General of the United States is the nation's top law enforcement officer. His job description does not include, and in many ways specifically forbids any overtly political action. But Obama's A.G. Holder mixes politics with a new low of imbecility not seen in the office.

Here's the latest:

As Mark Steyn points out:
At Ford Hood, Major Nidal Malik Hasan jumped on a table and gunned down his comrades while screaming, "Allahu Akbar," which is Arabic for "nothing to see here" and an early indicator of pre-Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. The Times Square bomber, we are assured by The Washington Post, CNN and Newsweek, was upset by foreclosure proceedings on his house. Mortgage-related issues. Nothing to do with months of training at a Taliban camp in Waziristan.

Interesting that Holder can't see the hand of "radical Islam" in attacks on American soil but jumped to the conclusion that the Arizona immigration law might lead to "racial profiling" without ever reading the bill. His opinion was based almost entirely on false news reports about the legislation. But that didn't stop Holder from repeatedly taking to the airwaves and fanning the flames of racial and ethnic tension over the issue which is the exact opposite of what we would expect from the nation's chief law enforcement officer.

Remember that this is the same Attorney General who insisted in a speech in February 2009 that "in things racial we have always been and continue to be, in too many ways, essentially a nation of cowards." His advice then was that we need to "have frank conversations about the racial matters that continue to divide us." Yet he can't be honest with himself about the nature of radical Islam or honest about any racial/ethnic issues surrounding the Arizona law.

Let's review more of Holder's screw ups which have led to an increasingly charged and damaging political atmosphere in the Dept. of Justice:
  • Holder forced DOJ officials to drop the case of voter intimidation by the Black Panthers in Philadelphia. The man videotaped in black paramilitary uniform holding a club was told that he can't do that again until at least 2012. Just in time for Obama's re-election. Imagine if this had been a member of the Ku Klux Klan trying to intimidate voters.
  • Holder made it possible for ACORN to receive federal grant money after Congress had passed a ban on funding the group in the wake of the pimp and prostitute scandal.
  • Holder continues to push for the trial of 9/11 plotter Khalid Sheikh Mohammed to be held in New York despite the firestorm of opposition from practically everyone.
  • It was Holder who insisted that the Christmas bomber be mirandized and offered a lawyer before vital intell could be obtained.
  • Holder was behind the DOJ decision to reopen an already completed investigation into CIA employees accused of "torture" while using enhanced interrogation techniques on less than a handful of Al Queda's worst terrorists.
  • Holder, who as a private lawyer personally worked on behalf of attempted “dirty bomber” Jose Padilla, has staffed the DOJ with lawyers who previously represented Al Queda suspects and Guantanamo Bay inmates. They now have access to some of our most secret anti-terrorist information. He won't tell us who they are.

That list could go on and on but it makes the point that this man is not representing the interests of the American people as much as he is working to advance a radical political agenda.

During the Bush Administration Attorney's General were held to a very strict standard which has now completely disappeared. Don't the American people deserve better?

Obama Attacks Republicans....AGAIN... Tries to Blame Job Losses on GOP!

Democrats passed every budget busting bill he backed so how can he blame the GOP?

Easy... he's an ASS!

Photobucket BUFFALO, New York (Reuters) – President Barack Obama defended his administration's economic recovery efforts on Thursday and accused Republicans of trying to block Democratic policies for political gain.

With public anxiety over the fragile economy threatening Obama's Democrats in November's congressional elections, he tried to turn the tables on Republican critics, accusing them of sitting on the sidelines last year when he was tackling the financial crisis.

Obama, speaking to factory workers in Buffalo, New York, made the case that his administration acted "boldly and quickly" to avert another Great Depression and move the country on the path to recovery.

Touting the latest government reports showing job growth for the fourth straight month, Obama argued that his efforts were working despite a 9.9 percent unemployment rate in April.
Later, at a Democratic fund-raising speech in Manhattan, Obama was blistering in his criticism of Republicans who are poised to pick up seats against Democratic majorities in November elections for the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate.

Obama said Republicans have "done their best to gum up the works" and said they generated much of the country's fiscal deficit that they now complain about.
Republicans caused the deficit? Really? Obama is set to saddle the American taxpayer with more debt than all the Presidents since George Washington to George Bush combined and he's trying to say Republicans caused the debt crisis? Who will believe such a lie? And which bills did the GOP stop?

Obama went on to say:
"Their [GOP] basic attitude has been, if Democrats lose, we win. After they drove the car in the ditch, made it as difficult as possible for us to pull it back, now they want the keys back. No. They can't drive. We don't want to have to go back in the ditch," he said.
Is this more of the kind of healing post partisan rhetoric he promised during the campaign? No, but it's par for the course from a president who when he isn't golfing is working to divide and polarize America. Early on, Obama rejected every GOP idea, even telling Senator Jon Kyl that "I won" and dismissing Kyl's idea to stimulate job production. Now he complains?

Republicans to Take Back the Keys!

Perhaps Obama should read th latest National Journal poll. Like so many others in recent months, it says loud and clear that the GOP will be getting those keys back sooner or later!

Only 39% of voters said they would vote to re-elect Pres. Obama if the election were held today, while 50% say they would vote for someone else. A quarter of voters would definitely vote to re-elect Obama, while 37% would definitely vote for someone else.
When Obama signed the Stimulus bill, loaded with pork and favors for his union friends, he promised that it "will create or save 3.5 million jobs." Instead, we've lost nearly 3.5 million jobs and unemployment remains well above the level Obama promised if Congress passed his trillion dollar stimulus boondoggle.

At the time of Obama's election in 2008 It was clear to many of us that the man had neither the experience or the skills necessary to put America back to work. That truth is now obvious even to many of those who voted for him. They won't make that same mistake again! He can't blame his mistakes on the GOP and get away with it when so many Americans are looking for answers, looking for leadership and looking for work!

13 Story Mosque to Open at Ground Zero on 10th Anniversary of Sept. 11th Attacks?

Is this Islam being insensitive or in our face?

An episode of the Comedy Central cartoon South Park gets censored because a portrayal of the Muslim Prophet Mohammed might be offensive to Muslims. Yet, building a 13 story Mosque at Ground Zero in New York, the site of the September 11th attacks isn't? And in case you didn't get the message, they want to open the Mosque on the 10th anniversary of the attack.

Are these people crazy, stupid or both?

Mosque madness at Ground Zero
New York Post
May 13, 2010

A mosque rises over Ground Zero. And fed-up New Yorkers are crying, "No!"

A chorus of critics -- from neighbors to those who lost loved ones on 9/11 to me -- feel as if they've received a swift kick in the teeth.

Plans are under way for a Muslim house of worship, topped by a 13-story cultural center with a swimming pool, in a building damaged by the fuselage of a jet flown by extremists into the World Trade Center.

The opening date shall live in infamy: Sept. 11, 2011. The 10th anniversary of the day a hole was punched in the city's heart.

How the devil did this happen?

Plans to bring what one critic calls a "monster mosque" to the site of the old Burlington Coat Factory building, at a cost expected to top $100 million, moved along for months without a peep. All of a sudden, even members of the community board that stupidly green-lighted the mosque this month are tearing their hair out.

Paul Sipos, member of Community Board 1, said a mosque is a fine idea -- someplace else.

"If the Japanese decided to open a cultural center across from Pearl Harbor, that would be insensitive," Sipos told me. "If the Germans opened a Bach choral society across from Auschwitz, even after all these years, that would be an insensitive setting. I have absolutely nothing against Islam. I just think: Why there?"

Why, indeed.

A rally against the mosque is planned for June 6, D-Day, by the human-rights group Stop Islamicization of America. Executive director Pamela Geller said, "What could be more insulting and humiliating than a monster mosque in the shadow of the World Trade Center buildings that were brought down by an Islamic jihad attack? Any decent American, Muslim or otherwise, wouldn't dream of such an insult. It's a stab in the eye of America."
Wounds that have yet to heal are now opening, as mosque opponents are branded, unfairly, as bigots.

"The worst tendency is the knee-jerk, emotional, angry, hateful response to acts of violence and war," said Donna Marsh O'Connor, who lost daughter Vanessa on 9/11 and supports the mosque. "I think it's racist tendencies."

Many more feel like Bill Doyle -- doubly maimed as he's forced to defend himself against charges of prejudice.

"I'm not a bigot. What I'm frightful about is, it's almost going to be another protest zone. A meeting place for radicals," said Doyle, whose son, Joseph, was murdered on 9/11.

"It's a slap in our face!" said Nelly Braginsky, who lost son Alexander.

Will Obama get involved and use this as another excuse to suck up to Muslims while branding anyone who disagrees as a "racist?" That would be crying WOLF once too often for me!

Attorney General Holder: Hasn't Read the Law But it's Still Racist!

He hasn't even been briefed on it, but that didn't stop him from forming an opinion on the basis of lying, racebaiting news reports!

This is incredible. The tape is cued to the relevant section:

REPRESENTATIVE TED POE, (R-TEXAS): So Arizona, since the federal government totally fails to secure the border desperately then passed laws to protect its own people. The law is supported by 70 percent of the people in Arizona, 60 percent of all Americans, and 50 percent of all Hispanics according to the Wall Street Journal/NBC poll done just this week. And I understand that you may file a lawsuit against the law. Seems to me the Administration ought to be enforcing border security and immigration laws and not challenge them, and that the Administration is on the wrong side of the American people. Have you read the Arizona law?

ERIC HOLDER, ATTORNEY GENERAL: I have not had a chance to, I've glanced at it. I have not read it.

POE: It's ten pages. It's a lot shorter than the healthcare bill which was 2,000 pages long. I'll give you my copy of it if you would like to have a copy. Even though you haven't read the law, do you have an opinion as to whether it's Constitutional?

HOLDER: I have not really, I have not been briefed yet.
Later during his questioning, Poe further challenged the Attorney General:

POE: You have some concerns about the statute. It's hard for me to understand how you would have concerns about something being un-Constitutional if you haven't even read the law. Seems like you wouldn't make a judgment about whether it violates civil rights statutes, whether it violates federal preemption concepts if you hadn't read the law. So, can you help me out there a little bit, how you can make a judgment call on that, but you haven't read the law and determined whether it's Constitutional or not?

Holder's response will even FURTHER amaze most Americans on both sides of the aisle:

HOLDER: Well, what I've said is that I've not made up my mind. I've only made, made the comments that I've made on the basis of things that I've been able to glean by reading newspaper accounts, obviously, looking at television, talking to people who are on the review panel, on the review team that are looking at the law. But I've not reached any conclusions as yet with regard to. I've just expressed concerns on the basis of what I've heard about the law. But I'm not in the position to say at this point, not having read the law, not having had the chance to interact with people doing the review, exactly what my position is.
"I've only made, made the comments that I've made on the basis of things that I've been able to glean by reading newspaper accounts, obviously, looking at television." That from the Attorney General of the United States. The very man whose job it is to interpret and enforce the law. Yet, he makes his mind up on the basis of wildly inaccurate "news" reports that had more to do with ginning up anger among Obama's left wing base than reflecting honestly on the Arizona law.

But none of that stopped Holder from speaking on April 28 saying the Arizona law is an "unfortunate one that I fear is subject to potential abuse". (video) On May 9, he was on Meet the Press and said the Arizona law "has the possibility of leading to racial profiling." And on May 11, he said "I certainly think it's divisive. I don't think there is any question about that." (video)

Perhaps we should all print out copies of the bill and mail them to Eric Holder!

Yet, the only divisiveness here is coming from the Obama Administration as it seeks to divide Americans by race and ethnicity for partisan political purposes.

This episode is yet another revealing insight into the incompetence and imbecility of the Obama Administration whose sole focus appears to be the pursuit of political power at any price.

Obama Then: Harriet Meirs "Completely blank slate" Requires Extra Scrutiny as Supreme Court Nominee

Obama now: His blank slate nominee should be confirmed "as swiftly as possible!"

Do we accept that there are two standards for appointments to the High Court? One for Republican nominees where absolute scrutiny is required and another for Democrat nominees where it's expected that whomever the President appoints is confirmed?

Or do we just expect that the American people will forget every standard or principle Democrats like Obama insisted were important when THEY are not in power?

Trust In Government at Record Low!

How long until the governed remove their consent?

The government of the United States derives it's authority and legitimacy from the consent of the governed. But with distrust in government at an all time high, how long will it be before that consent is removed?
Photobucket Distrust, Discontent, Anger and Partisan Rancor
The People and Their Government
The Pew Research Center for the People and the Press
April 18, 2010

By almost every conceivable measure Americans are less positive and more critical of government these days. A new Pew Research Center survey finds a perfect storm of conditions associated with distrust of government – a dismal economy, an unhappy public, bitter partisan-based backlash, and epic discontent with Congress and elected officials.

Rather than an activist government to deal with the nation’s top problems, the public now wants government reformed and growing numbers want its power curtailed. With the exception of greater regulation of major financial institutions, there is less of an appetite for government solutions to the nation’s problems – including more government control over the economy – than there was when Barack Obama first took office.
Distrust under Obama exceeded the two previous lows which occurred during Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter's presidencies.

You might not have heard this story reported in the past weeks. That's because many "news" headlines reported unfounded claims by Democrats that opponents of Obama's health care were racists, or that opposition to Obama could lead to violent extremism. Those outrageous and inflammatory calumnies were followed by the suggestion that supporters of an Arizona law to enforce immigration laws were also racist.

Those incidents were perhaps one of the reasons why trust in government has plummeted. But there's so much more. Who can forget the bills moving through congress which are thousands of pages long that few members read or understand? Massive deficits increasing debt in a few years beyond that which we have incurred since our nation's founding. Wasteful spending, cronyism, Chicago thug politics and all the rest.

And then, there's this:
  • The 2,000 page bill Democrats insist will save us from greedy Wall Street types has a provision enabling government to monitor nearly every financial transaction YOU make. Where are the civil liberties types who screeched about "domestic spying" when Bush wanted to monitor terrorists overseas calls and emails?
  • Federal Inspectors may be coming to your home before you permitted to sell it to make sure it meets "green" standards if provisions of Cap and Tax legislation passes.
  • Thousands more IRS agents will be hired (at the cost of $10 billion) to enforce Obama's edict that you buy health insurance.

Government poking their nose into your business like never before. Is this what people voted for when they voted for "change" in 2008?

There's only one solution to the madness. The governed must remove their consent to be governed and vote for better change in 2010 and again in 2012. It will take a monumental effort to overcome the monumental mistakes of elections in 2006 and 2008. But it can and must be done to preserve the freedom Americans have come to expect as their birthright! Slavery to big government is NOT an option!

Cameron Becomes Conservative Prime Minister of Great Britain

The first conservative overthrow of Labour socialists since Margaret Thatcher in 1979!

I watched the BBC live as the car took Prime Minister Gordon Brown to Buckingham Palace to resign his office and recommend that Queen Elizabeth II call Conservative Leader David Cameron to form a new government.

LONDON - MAY 11: Britain's Queen Elizabeth II greets David Cameron at Buckingham Palace in an audience to invite him to be the next Prime Minister, on May 11, 2010 in London.

Cameron is the 12th Prime Minister during Queen Elizabeth II'nd's reign. Her first was Winston Churchill.
It's an amazing contrast with the American system. Especially so after four days following the election when no one knew what the outcome would be. Conservatives won the most seats in Parliament; but not a majority and socialists held out hope that they could engineer a deal to stay in power. That effort failed Tuesday and Brown resigned and followed overhead by news helicopters left Number 10 Downing Street to visit Buckingham Palace to see the Queen. After the meeting, his car had to wait in traffic like everyone else while other senior Labour cabinet ministers left their government supplied homes and offices that many had occupied for years.

On television, or live Internet, anglophiles were treated to stunning aerial images of central London. What a treat!

Yank's Perspective

One thing that is so apparent is the lack of a big inaugural ceremony. No parade, just a quick meeting with the Queen then out with the old and in with the new. American conservatives may also note that while this is a significant win, the biggest swing to conservatives in 80 years, our conservative cousins will have one hand tied behind their backs in what is reported to be a coalition agreement with the Liberal Democrats made necessary because conservatives failed to win majority control of Parliament.

There's more to come with the shakeout from this arrangement and likely will not be most agreeable to conservatives in Britain or this country. Such arrangements simply underscore the need to achieve solid conservative majorities!

New Conservative Prime Minister David Cameron is no Margaret Thatcher. And as we watch Europe's financial system teeter on the brink, one thing becomes clear: Britain needs another Thatcher as badly as the U.S.A. needs another Reagan!

If Kagan is Qualified for the Supreme Court, So is Laura Ingraham

If clerkships for former justices is the new standard, we've reached a new low!

Listening to the reaction on Talk Radio this afternoon to Obama's selection of Harvard crony Elena Kagin for nomination to the Supreme Court, a liberal caller to Sean Hannity's show struck a chord. He read off the list of George Soros/David Axelrod approved talking points and stressed that Kagin, who was never a judge and has never written an opinion, nor appeared as a lawyer before the Supreme Court was somehow qualified to sit on the High Court on the basis of her clerkship to the late Justice Thurgood Marshall.

I was an intern in the White House of President Ronald Reagan. Am I qualified to be President?

Alright, let's put that aside and consider this: among her many qualifications Laura Ingraham, clerked for Justice Clarence Thomas, another black Justice. Should she also be considered for a future nomination to the High Court by GOP Presidents? What about conservative commentator Ann Coulter who clerked for Judge Pasco Bowman II of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and was an attorney in the Department of Justice Honors Program for outstanding law school graduates?

A challenge to our liberal readers: drop the Soros/Axelrod approved talking points and tell us why Kagin should be given a pass that would NEVER apply to any conservative woman; let alone a man!

Choose your words carefully, as they may come back to bite you!

Arizona Gov to Obama: No One in Arizona is Laughing About Illegal Immigration

Obama makes joke at the expense of murder, kidnap & rape victims!

Pretty strong stuff coming from a governor of a state. But I guess when Obama's out there making phony claims that Hispanic families will be rounded up when going out for ice cream one minute, then joking about the Arizona law the next minute; Gov. Jan Brewer had had enough.

Her campaign released this video:

In December 2008, the U.S. Justice Department said that Mexican gangs are the "biggest organized crime threat to the United States." In 2009, Phoenix had 316 kidnapping cases, turning the city into our nation's kidnapping capital. Almost all of the persons kidnapped were illegal immigrants or linked to the drug trade.

"The very same week that Governor Brewer signed SB 1070, a major drug ring was broken up and Mexican cartel operatives suspected of running 40,000 pounds of marijuana through southern Arizona were indicted. A week later, a local deputy sheriff was assaulted by suspected drug smugglers carrying an automatic weapon," said campaign spokesman Doug Cole. "The drug trafficking and border violence is out of control in Arizona and demands serious attention. President Obama and Congress ignored several requests from Governor Brewer for help in securing the border. Instead of helping, President Obama chooses to crack jokes to an adoring crowd. Mr. President, this is not a laughing matter."
If Obama was doing his job Arizona wouldn't need to pass this law that has so many on the left foaming at the mouth in willfully ignorant indignation.

Obama: Take a day off golfing and DO YOUR JOB! SECURE THE BORDER!

Obama "Will Not Rest" Until Americans Get Jobs

Photobucket Yet, he spends soooo much time golfing!

In November 2009 Obama insisted that his Administration would devote their efforts to finding work for Americans. With unemployment during that time at 10% Obama said: "I will not rest until businesses are investing again and businesses are hiring again and people have work again."

In the months that passed Obama devoted nearly all his time to passing the monstrous health care bill that is reviled by a growing majority of the American people and one which we are not suprised to learn will drive up health care costs and cause millions to lose the current coverage they now have.

On Friday, with the news that unemployment went back up to 9.9% Obama took to the microphones and promised this: "I won’t rest until you, and millions of your neighbors caught up in these storms, are able to find a good job."

Does anyone expect he'll keep his word this time? When he's not cooking up some new government takeover scheme, or bashing Republicans or racebaiting he's golfing. In fact, he's golfed more in one year than President Bush did in his eight years in office. And readers may recall how the left mocked Bush for even those few outings.

At what point does the sheer emptiness of Obama's rhetoric and the incompetence of his Administration strike a chord with the American people and cause them to take steps to end this aberration? How about on November 2, 2010?

British Election Results in Biggest Conservative Gains in 80 years

Yet no clear majority for governing!

British opposition Conservative party Leader David Cameron (L) stands with stands with Alan Hope of the Monster Raving Looney William Hill Party, during the count for the seat of Witney, at the count centre in Witney, central England on May 7, 2010. Britain's opposition Conservatives came top in a knife-edge general election Thursday but fell short of the clear-cut majority needed to return to power after 13 years in opposition, exit polls suggested. If confirmed, the forecast would leave Britain with a so-called 'hung parliament' for the first time since 1974.
I've been watching the British elections all night and as much as people complain about U.S. elections, be glad we don't run ours on the British model. Long lines and many people unable to vote by the 10 PM closing time. Lots of splinter parties and silly candidates like Alan Hope above dilute the ability of one side or the other to gain a clear majority (this should be a warning to anyone who thinks a third party is a good idea).

Conservatives came from an extraordinarily weak position and ended up with the largest number of seats, but overall, their percentage of the vote nationwide was 36.4%. What kind of mandate does that suggest as they try and form a government by negotiating to get votes from some of the smaller parties who hold a handful of seats or by working with the Liberal Democrats. (results with geographic distribution of seats here)

Liberal Democrats who had expected big wins on the basis of strong showings in debates by their leader Nick Clegg were disappointed that they actually lost seats overall.

As for Prime Minister Gordon Brown, he may try and form a coalition with Liberal Democrats to stay in power. But it's clear from the election results with his Labor Party losing 81 seats (as of this hour) that he does not have the support of the British people that some suggest he must have to form a credible government.

It will be interesting to watch as our British cousins sort all of this out in the days ahead. The Conservatives, led by David Cameron, have a strong case to make for control of Parliament and government, But then, they have positioned themselves to simply do a better job managing the cradle to grave socialism which is endemic in Britain. Sadly, there's no Margaret Thatcher out there to roll back socialism. Still, many of our friends across the world (France, Italy, Germany, Canada to name a few) are moving to the right. It won't be long before the U.S. follows suit!

Students Sent Home for Wearing US Flag Apparel on Cinco de Mayo

You think students wearing Mexican flag shirts would be treated this way?

Want another example of how completely screwed up public education in this country has become?

Cinco de Mayo isn't even a holiday in Mexico. It's only observed in the U.S. Mostly promoted by Mexican beer companies!

900 Point Dow Dive Causes Mini Panic on Wall Street

Are Obama's socialist chickens coming home to roost?

Earlier this afternoon I checked the Dow Jones index and it had dropped 450 points. Minutes later the drop went to 900 before recovery began.

What's going on? Clearly there is some extraordinary unease in financial markets. Is it related to the Greek crisis where a socialist government's spending has put that country at the brink of fiscal solvency social cohesion? Is the panic related to our own weakening financial position as Obama runs up unsustainable debt with no end in sight?

Today's Dow dive should be a warning to investors that the fiscally irresponsible policies of the Obama Administration put us all at risk!

Obama's Katrina and Obama's Enron WORSE Than Original Bush Scandals

Yet media silence on money, incompetence and corruption is nearly total!

The Enron scandal during the early years of the Bush Administration was small potatoes compared to the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac meltdowns which led to the loses of $trillions for investors worldwide. Yet, the "news" media at the time was filled with stories about campaign contributions to President Bush from Enron and questions of what kind of access or special treatment they might have received from the Administration.

Now, the shoe is on the other foot in a big way and the silence is deafening:

Is Goldman Obama's Enron? No, it's worse
By: J.P. Freire
The Washington Examiner
April 20, 2010

Financial professional work in the Goldman Sachs booth on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange in New York City. (Photo by Chris Hondros/Getty Images)
Campaign contributions from Goldman Sachs employees to President Obama are nearly seven times as much as President Bush received from Enron workers, according to numbers on OpenSecrets.org.

In 2002, the New York Times wrote: "President Bush is seeking to play down his relationship with Enron's embattled chairman, Kenneth L. Lay. But their ties are broad and deep and go back many years, and the relationship has been beneficial to both." (h/t Lachlan Markey)

But the mere $151,722.42 (inflation adjusted) in contributions from Enron-affiliated executives, employees, and PACs to Bush hardly add up to Obama's $1,007,370.85 (inflation adjusted) from Goldman-affiliated executives and employees. That's also not taking into account how much Goldman contributed to Obama cabinet member Hillary Clinton ($415,595.63 inflation adjusted), which was itself almost three times as much as Bush received as well.

It would be fair to say that the total amount the Obama administration has received from those affiliated with Goldman Sachs is ten times that of what Bush received from Enron.

Goldman is being sued for civil fraud by the Securities and Exchange Commission for deliberately putting unwitting clients on the wrong side of a mortgage security trade that had been designed to fail.

It's not even just campaign contributions. There's quite the revolving door. According to our own Tim Carney:

Greg Craig, Obama's first White House counsel, has joined Goldman, we learned this week. He may not have too much pull in the West Wing, which drove him out for hewing too close to Obama's campaign promises, but as a former insider he will provide valuable intelligence to the world's largest investment bank.
Rahm Emanuel, White House chief of staff, was paid $35,000 as a consultant to Goldman while also working as Bill Clinton's top fundraiser. Obama's fundraiser and economic adviser Warren Buffett is very long on Goldman, having bet on them in 2008 in the expectation of a bailout. Mark Patterson, chief of staff to Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, was a Goldman Sachs lobbyist until months before joining Team Obama.

Obama's Katrina

Readers will recall the criticism of President Bush in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Some went so far as to suggest that he was slow to act because he hated black people who were among the victims in New Orleans.

But in the wake of the British Petroleum oil spill, the Obama Administration did next to nothing to address the issue. They failed to follow emergency procedures which might have alleviated much of the spill problem. Worse still is that the Obama Administration exempted BP from some environmental regulations and that BP lobbyists were seeking to extend those exemptions in the days before the explosion which led to the spill.

What factor might explain this lax attitude towards environmental regulations on the part of the Obama Administration? Did the fact that Obama was the biggest recipient of BP related campaign contributions have anything to do with it? This after Obama pledged during the campaign that he wouldn't take money from big oil. Yeah, like he's really lived up to his campaign promises! BP now brags about how effective their lobbying and campaign contribution effort has been.

If the story line for Enron and Katrina was Bush incompetence sprinkled with political corruption then that same story line should apply to Obama whose Administration is much deeper in the money and connections game than Bush ever was.

But don't expect to get daily updates on these stories on your nightly news the way we did with Bush!

Obama's Campaign to Divide America by Race and Class Not Working

Dem turnout for last Tuesday's primaries was record low!

The primary reason Obama and the Dems have been shouting "RACISM" at every opportunity and making transparently false connections between the Tea Parties and potential violence was to gin up anger among the liberal base and encourage them to vote in big numbers like they did in 2008. But it's not working.

If you needed further proof that after elections in Virginia, New Jersey and Massachusetts that the pendulum had swung hard in the other direction away from Democrats you got confirmation with the latest round of primary voting.

Dem Turnout Falls Off A Cliff

Turnout among Dem voters dropped precipitously in 3 statewide primaries on Tuesday, giving the party more evidence that their voters lack enthusiasm ahead of midterm elections.

In primaries in NC, IN and OH, Dems turned out at far lower rates than they have in previous comparable elections.

Just 663K OH voters cast ballots in the competitive primary between LG Lee Fisher (D) and Sec/State Jennifer Brunner (D). That number is lower than the 872K voters who turned out in '06, when neither Gov. Ted Strickland (D) nor Sen. Sherrod Brown (D) faced serious primary opponents.

Only 425K voters turned out to pick a nominee against Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC). The 14.4% turnout was smaller than the 444K voters -- or 18% of all registered Dem voters -- who turned out in '04, when Gov. Mike Easley (D) faced only a gadfly candidate in his bid to be renominated for a second term.

And in IN, just 204K Hoosiers voted for Dem House candidates, far fewer than the 357K who turned out in '02 and the 304K who turned out in '06.

By contrast, GOP turnout was up almost across the board. 373K people voted in Burr's uncompetitive primary, nearly 9% higher than the 343K who voted in the equally non-competitive primary in '04. Turnout in House races in IN rose 14.6% from '06, fueled by the competitive Senate primary, which attracted 550K voters. And 728K voters cast ballots for a GOP Sec/State nominee in Ohio, the highest-ranking statewide election with a primary; in '06, just 444K voters cast ballots in that race.

Top Dem strategists have promised to spend millions to get their voters to cast ballots, and polls show they will need to succeed in order to avoid an electoral beating. The latest weekly Gallup tracking survey shows 43% of GOPers are "very enthusiastic" about voting, while just 33% of Dems feel the same way.

Whatever happened to hope and change euphoria that sent Obama into office? It's withering in the light of reality showing exactly who and what Obama and his Dem cohorts truly are.

The American people won't be fooled a second time!
